Beware, a new large-scale iCloud Phishing campaign seems to be underway. Posted: 26 Jun 2019 12:59 PM PDT I, my family, and several other people I know have all been targeted recently by an apparent iCloud Phishing campaign. Here is the image of the message. The subject line will be something that will catch your eye, such as iCloud Account Locked due to unauthorized access! It will be something that will worry you and their goal is to get you to enter iCloud details at which point they have access to very private information such as your address and credit cards. This is a friendly reminder to stay vigilant whenever you get an email that either sounds too good to be true or one that tries to cause concern. These people have gotten very good at making passable emails, the best thing you can do is always look at the sender email address. If it comes from Apple, it will be obvious. In my example it is some mangled address and pretty obvious off the bat that it isn't Apple. Of course it goes without saying, never enter your iCloud details if it is not from a system prompt (like when your iPhone updates) or, if on the web, the domain is apple.com. And this is further proof of how important it is to have 2 factor authentication. Stay safe! [link] [comments]

Idea: Sidecar on Any Screen, iPad, MacBook or iMac. Posted: 26 Jun 2019 02:02 PM PDT With Target Display Mode gone, wouldn't it be nice to be able to use Sidecar with a screen from any other device to expand your screen real state? Imagine connecting to a beautiful 27" iMac screen from a macbook wirelessly, or the other way around. Or maybe even from an iPad. The true no-wires setup would finally be realized. Posted: 26 Jun 2019 12:58 PM PDT Just wondering how everyone's experience with the new mouse support is. Aside from the questions in the title, is it comfortable and intuitive to use? Thanks [link] [comments]
iOS 13 finally supports Russian phonetic keyboard. Posted: 26 Jun 2019 11:09 AM PDT Been my struggle all these years. I can only type on qwerty keyboards (English education etc), and on laptops always had phonetic Russian keyboard. Writing 2 sentence email usually took me 10 minutes on iPhone. This is godsend feature for me! [link] [comments]
Please help. Bloody life sucking kernal_task is running at 5000% and I’ve tried everything. Posted: 26 Jun 2019 04:10 PM PDT In my post history you can see that other related subs haven't helped so please don't berate me for trying here. I have clients that I need to perform for asap with my computer. It's a 2016 MBP running the latest Mojave update. I have done every recommended reset, deleted every non native app, reinstalled & updated the OS, created a new admin profile, disconnected all USB ports, cleaned the internals, ran healthy battery checks, and yet my MBP without fail within 30 seconds of login will crank up the fan speed to max and kernal task goes freaking ballistic despite zero programs running. Any recommendations? Computer is unusable like this. It won't even turn on half the time. Computer has thousands of dollars of data. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Jun 2019 12:33 PM PDT IPadOS is phenomenal I've obviously not had all kinds of time to kick the tires but iPadOSes desktop class browsing is a god damned panacea for me. When I bought my iPad Pro my school was a Microsoft shop with paper the definitive version of everything. If an administrator wanted to see my lesson plans she was asking for a binder they could look through. And my iPad was fine. The Next school year we got Chromebooks and Google Apps, and I was like fine I'll just use the apps in place of Office and well that sucked. The Quality of those apps is a lot lower than the MS office ones and even well below the web versions of those. Also we had an online curriculum that just wouldn't show anything but no for iPad no matter what I tried. I loved certain things about it, but just couldn't get over the frustration of the browser and they seemed to have fixed all the issues. Everything works now, and better than I imagined they would. Even in touch stuff like Sheets works but it's not quite perfect. There's other stuff here and there I like on iPad OS. I haven't even tried hooking up a mouse because the pencil handles that well enough for me. I don't want to get too lost in the can it replace your laptop but like for me this really made up the difference. [link] [comments]
[UPDATE] Catalina + Sidecar (iPad => monitor) Wishlist After Using for a Week Posted: 26 Jun 2019 04:14 PM PDT Hey all - I made this post https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/c288yb/macos_catalina_sidecar_ipad_os_quick_demo and this video https://twitter.com/scotch_io/status/1140990176933699584 Just wanted to give a follow-up to using it if anyone is interested. Pros and cons are pretty straight forward. Wishlist is what I think to make it feel like a more natural setup. Would love your thoughts!! ## Main Pros - Crazy fast - Super easy - Really amazing setup. Can see having 2 devices on you be the norm for productive people ## Main Cons - Crashes sometimes when jumping around apps on iPad - The keyboards bump each other a bit hard to line up nicely. Like an awkward "V" shape angle. Need to an option like Surface to put the iPad Pro keyboard behind the screen or mount ## Wishlist (a true power user setup) - Open in Desktop: Want to be able to long press on iPad and say "Open on Desktop" on iPad. You can airdrop send but it's not quick when in the grooves of things. Super annoying to hold and copy and paste too via handoff - Touch to click: Touching the desktop on your iPad doesn't work for simple clicking or scrolling but would be amazing to have as a default. The only way around this is the Pencil which is annoying to grab to do - Improve iPad Window Management: Using iPadOS to arrange windows still frustrating... Process is open the app, long press app in the dock, wait and try 2-3 times to hold it right, and then drag. Would be nice to just throw windows around quickly with three/four fingers like you can on iPad to swipe between apps - Command + Tab on Desktop to iPad App: Would be amazing to sync iPad apps to your window management - Mouse to "focus" iPad App: I'm not even asking for full mouse support. I just want to be able to use my mouse to bring iPad app into focus. For example, if iMessage is docked to the side to just be able to quickly click in that area and beginning typing. Right now it's a pure overlay and still feels like 2 machines [link] [comments] |
