Why doesn’t Apple let me multitask while video chatting on iPhone? Posted: 09 May 2019 09:21 AM PDT It's frustrating. I wanna be able to have the freedom to multitask while on video chat. My boyfriend has an Android and can do whatever he pleases i.e. his camera never shuts off while he's reading emails or responding to texts. I know the iPad has multitasking available. How do you guys keep up with the raising prices ? Posted: 09 May 2019 06:40 AM PDT So, after owning iPhones for years (I had an iPhone 4, then iPhone 5, then iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch), I switched to a Samsung Galaxy S8 2 years ago because my iPhone died and at the time there was a very good deal on S8s through my carrier, so I did the jump. Frankly at first I was a little annoyed with Android but I slowly got used to it. Now, for 2 years I kinda forgot about iPhones, but the one thing I really miss is my Apple Watch. I loved this thing. Today, I went to the Apple store and the new Apple Watches are just gorgeous. So I looked at the iPhones, because I'll need one if I want to buy a watch. I looked at the XR, and coming from a Galaxy S8, it looks pretty bad. It looks bulky, the edges of the screen seem enormous, the giant notch is ridiculous and contrast is not even comparable. Then I looked at the iPhone XS. The screen is way better, actually better than the S8, and the edges of the screen aren't as bad as on the XR. Then I saw the price. Holy crap, this thing costs 1.300€. That's the price I paid in 2011 for my fully equipped, i7 MacBook Pro. How do you guys financially keep up with prices like this? How can an iPhone be worth twice as much as its flagship Samsung equivalent? It's like if a BMW was 50k and its direct Mercedes competitor was 100k. What do you think the future of iPhones will be like? Is there any chance that next year's entry-level iPhone will have an Oled display and smaller edges? submitted by /u/progfever [link] [comments]

Apps won’t update automatically Posted: 09 May 2019 03:09 AM PDT Apps won't update automatically or even won't show available updates (with a badge on an App Store icon for example) unless I go to the updates tab and refresh it and then I have to manually press "update". “FaceTime answered on other device’ meaning? Posted: 08 May 2019 06:56 PM PDT Person FaceTimed me from a number I don't have saved or recognized, it rang once and they hung up, then it stated that 'Facetime answered on other device'. I have absolutely no other device linked with my iCloud or phone number and there's only my watch and phone on the 'Find my phone' app. And to also answer the obvious - I tried calling and texting the number with no reply. It's a local number area code. I just don't know what 'FaceTime answered on other device' means and it's bothering me. Is the FaceTime bug still a thing? Phone Info: iPhone 7 Plus with 12.2. [Buying Advice] 8+ or XR? Posted: 09 May 2019 07:29 AM PDT Hi, I'm currently struggling to decide between either the iPhone 8 Plus or the iPhone XR. For me, both have their distinct advantages and disadvantages: ​ 8+: higher resolution a bit cheaper dual camera XR: A12 chip longer battery time better camera (?) newer, therefore might get updates longer (til ~2023) ​ Then the 8+ has the 'classic' design with Touch ID and comes in 'premium' colors, whereas the XR has the 'new' design using Face ID and comes in more various colors. ​ With all those things said, I really can't seem to decide. Third-party keyboards with default Apple keyboard layout Posted: 09 May 2019 07:21 AM PDT Has anyone else become extremely frustrated with not being able to get used to the layout of third-party keyboards? I really like some of them - GBoard, specifically, but always find myself switching back after a few weeks because my damn fingers just can't get used to the letter spacing, space bar location, etc. I literally mis-type just about every 3rd or 4th word, type periods instead of spaces all the time and I just can't get used to the slightly different layout. Has anyone found a good third-party keyboard that supports swipe-style typing (GBoard, SwiftKey) but that has the same key layout as the default Apple keyboard? I know this may be pointless in a few months if the rumors are true about Apple adding swipe to their keyboard, but I'm just impatient and want a better solution now so figured I'd ask. submitted by /u/shawncberg [link] [comments]
