    Wiping a MacBook Air

    Posted: 05 May 2019 07:34 PM PDT

I'm sure this gets asked often but I just joined this subreddit. I'm curious on what is the fastest and easiest way to wipe a 2011 MacBook Air? I know that with iPads, iPhones, and some PCs you can just easily set them back to factory settings but it doesn't seem to be that easy with a MacBook. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know of an external hard drive that will work with my 2011 Macbook Pro?

    Posted: 05 May 2019 11:53 AM PDT

I just tried the Seagate Backup Plus (1TB) and it wouldn't load. It pops up, and the set up icon comes up, but when I click on it nothing loads. Macbook my Macbook is just too old? It's a 2011, and version 10.6.8 (the highest it can be updated to). Any suggestions?

    $25 MacBook (late 2007)

    Posted: 05 May 2019 02:07 AM PDT

I bought this machine today at a flea market, in the original box with cable, original install CD and a snow leopard install CD for $25!

The only issue I have found with it is that the "1" key is a bit sticky.

I've searched around, but found conflicting information on the removal of keys and efficacy of cleaning (with alcohol) the mechanism.

    What do you think?

For its age it's pretty mint condition and is fully functional.

Would you fix the key and leave it at that or upgrade the ram (from 1gb to 6gb) and switch out the hdd for a ssd?
