I analyzed how the AirPods 2 and Case charge

    Posted: 16 May 2019 02:18 PM PDT

    Link to graph

EDIT: This is the AirPods 2 without wireless charging case, charging using an Apple cord and 5-watt brick.

    • The AirPods "boost" charge for the first 3.5 minutes
    • Pods take 30 mins to completely charge, Case takes 2 hours
    • The case waits to charge until the Pods hit 20%
    • Pods+Case never draw more than 2.5 watts total

My dream iPhone camera feature: videos always record a landscape/horizontal version

    Posted: 16 May 2019 09:35 AM PDT

I'm sure there's technical limitations to this but a man can dream right?

My parents recently got back from vacation and were showing me some videos they captured. What were otherwise beautiful videos were a fraction of what they could be because they were recorded vertically. I know what some of you want to say is "wElL wHy DoNt ThEy JuSt RoTaTe ThEiR pHoNe?"...these are boomers we're talking about. Every time I see my mom recording a video vertically I tell her it's better to record horizontally. I've probably said this a hundred times but nonetheless all her videos come out vertically. Heck, I've even shown her the shortcut on the lock screen to open the camera but she still puts in her passcode, unlocks the phone, and then opens the camera app.

What would be awesome is if somehow the camera could also record a horizontal version in addition to the vertical version. Now I don't technically if it is recording two versions or if it can always just record a horizontal version but "crop" it vertically but I dream of the day all videos are landscape.
