Best way to find out about Ipad sales?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 08:31 AM PDT

Thinking about pulling the trigger on a 2017 ipad pro depending on if the right config I want comes in a good sale. Are there any sites I should watch that report on Ipad discounts in the US?

    Question about using Apple Pencil

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 04:42 AM PDT

Do many of you write with the palm on the screen (like when writing on paper). Or do you hover your hand over the screen and it's only the pencil touching the screen?

    Thanks for any replies!

    Easycanvas is superb

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 02:37 AM PDT

Just got a ipad pro 12.9" with pencil and wanted to use as drawing tablet for windows pc. Saw that best app to connect ipad as screen/drawing was Astropad but which is Mac OSX only

Read reviews of duet display was bit ropey and bricks other apps so gave this a miss. so tried easy canvas and this is perfect.

Lag is minimal and accuracy is v good. Thoroughly recommend easycanvas 😊

    Lightroom on the Pro

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 11:30 AM PDT

How is editing photos on the Pro 12 in Lightroom?

I'm tempted to get an iPad as a travel companion and I'm trying to decide between that or a Surface Pro. Im a Hobbyist photographer and would like to have something a bit more mobile than my 2010 MacBook Pro to work on when away from home.

Also curious how the full suite of Photoshop will be once it's released.

    Any insight is much appreciated!

Workflow: Trim parts of a long video and create a GIF - Which app (apps)?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 02:30 PM PDT

    Hi,
I have a long video (88 minutes) and I want to take part of it, maybe only hilighting the small parts that I need
I wish those parts to auto-join and export as a good quality gif

Is this possible in some way?

    Which apps?

    Thank you in advance

Does anyone use Otterbox Defender case for Pro 12.9?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2019 09:56 PM PDT

Does anyone use Otterbox Defender case for Pro 12.9?

I found an offering at a reasonable price for this case.
I personally love Otterbox, considering how many times it has saved my phone from my careless drops.

But I am little bit concerned of some things.

First thing is, its design where its rear there is a circle hole to expose that Apple logo.
I personally don't really like it because that's not cool at all to me and it just ruins its union.
(Case is black and space gray is too bright... I can see that Apple logo, so what?)
But that design preference aside, I have a bad experience from some case similar.

    https://i.redd.it/vxej8qz485u21.jpg

This red case is the one I have used for my Air 2. I bought it from a kiosk at shopping mall. I chose it because it is rotatable and I can switch portrait and landscape mode as I want. But not only it got worn out inside & outside very quickly, its round plastic part that contacts with my iPad left a circle shaped scar around the rear Apple logo. In the real look the scar is more obvious than the picture that I took and especially the left side there is a really big one. I was cleaning the iPad and that happened.

You can see that circle around the logo. One even bigger scar is in the bottom left side.

This iPad was really in a great condition so it really sucks to look at that part every time. and I watched the Otterbox video at Youtube, and it has the same hole for that stupid Apple logo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYmTM3P4WLs

At least it looks soft and cozy but I don't know... Has anyone used this case and never suffered that circle shaped scar? I want to know that...

Another concern is its weight. I googled and found it weighs 792g! whereas the iPad Pro 2nd gen itself is 677g/692g(LTE). So this case is even heavier than the device itself, making the whole chunk more than double. Without a attached keyboard it is already quite heavier than many ultrabooks. Sure, it looks super sturdy and totally drop-proof in normal life. But that said, is it worth taking the weight??

Thanks for sharing your experience in advance!

What do first time Apple user not know and might help them

    Posted: 24 Apr 2019 03:11 AM PDT

So for my school I have to do 3 tutorials about things that might help students (12-16years old) or about a feature that they don't know about that might help them to be more productive at school and I have run out of Ideas, in the sort of: „How to show the apple pencil batterie".

IVSO Keyboard Case for ipad pro 12.9 - Review

    Posted: 23 Apr 2019 07:47 PM PDT

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H32519L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'll start off with this is a great price for an okay product. Overall, for the price the keyboard is satisfying to type on but has a few quirks.

    Pros:

    • Secure fit around iPad.
    • Shortcuts for iOS
    • Pencil storage for traveling/when not charging.
    • Okay battery life

    Cons:

    • Not a full-size keyboard / Similar to Logitech Slim Pro
    • Semi -"bulky"
    • Charges via Micro-USB (For the love of god, please change this to USB-C)
    • Plastic bumpers (potential burrs, check! I had a couple - could potentially scratch the finish on iPad over time if taken on and off)

    Fit and Finish:

The case holds the iPad securely. It is rigid but yet flexible enough to get the iPad in and out without damaging* (I would make sure there are no burrs on the plastic. I'm not sure what these bumpers would do overtime). It is the same material as most folio style cases (PU leather). The keyboard has small bumps to separate the keys from the screen when folded up. The port cuts leave more than enough room for any charging cable and all four speakers are loud and clear. There also is a cut out for magnetic charging for the Apple Pencil 2.

There is additional storage for the Apple Pencil if one isn't charging and/or transporting their iPad, but I do think it is unnecessary (for my daily use).

    Stand:

The stand works well on desks and on my lap. It is about as comfortable of a typing angle as the smart folio would give. The flap can be moved and magnetically put in place behind the iPad when in use. The keyboard can either be layed flat or propped up at a slight angle due to a magnet.

    Keyboard:

The keyboard is mediocre at best. I wasnt expecting much for 55 dollars though. It features all iOS shortcut buttons but no backlight to the keys. Feels like any other cheaper blue tooth keyboard from China.

I did notice a slight lag when using this keyboard - if that bothers you I do not recommend this product.

    Battery and Charging:

I used this keyboard for around 1 work week. I have not needed to charge the keyboard with around 25 hours of usage so far. It is unfortunate that this is not USB-C. There is a on/off switch on the top right of the keyboard.

From my tests, I have not had to charge the keyboard battery with around 20 hours of connected usage. I would prefer all newer devices start the transition USB-C as this keeps the older standards around for that much longer, but at this price point, I can overlook it. The power on/off switch is a much more user-friendly option than the button style.

    TL;DR

I would recommend this to someone who is on a budget but needs to use a keyboard for work, school, etc that also protects the iPad more than ASK. If slight input lag bothers you - you may notice it, some people at my office did not notice it.

For me, I'll wait for my Brydge Pre-Order to arrive (I'm an aesthetics guy - I'll deal with the weight) and just use my magic keyboard along with a slim thin case on my iPad Pro.
