[Meta] We are looking for more moderators on /r/jailbreak and /r/iOSthemes! Posted: 02 Apr 2019 06:51 AM PDT Hey everyone! We are once again looking to bring on new moderators to help with daily moderation tasks on r/jailbreak and r/iOSthemes. At this time, we are looking to bring on about 1-2 new mods, preferably those in European/Oceania timezones (no US timezones), although we may decide to change that number. Please do not apply if you already did last time or if you are in US timezones. We are also considering the March applicants too. Requirements Your account must be at least 6 months old and you must have at least 500 cumulative karma Must be active in r/jailbreak and/or r/iOSthemes and be knowledgeable about jailbreaking Look forward to doing the "janitorial" work that is the bulk of what moderators do: removing and approving posts, clearing the modqueue, responding to modmail, explaining rules, helping people, maintaining order. It helps to be a pretty patient and tolerant person. A few days after being chosen, Snoop posted a video to the subreddit on why you should jailbreak. We removed the post for being low-effort, but when we watched the video, we noticed that the voiceover of the video is similar to that of a kid. Since Reddit's ToS state that users must be 13 years and older, and Snoop was a moderator, we asked Snoop for a blurred out version of his ID that showed a DOB, and his name (Snoop's first name was visible to us in our backroom chat). I need excitement in my life, and as such, I work on multiple projects simultaneously. This app is a bit less complex programming-wise, and I finished it earlier than expected, so I figure I should just push it out. In an effort to stop releasing tweaks too early with a handful of bugs, I will be conducting beta testing! Description: Pusher will forward all push notifications received on your device to a service such as Pushover or Pushbullet (these are the two currently implemented). How is this useful? You might be doing work at your computer with your phone in your pocket or charging somewhere in the room. Having to repeatedly switch from one device to another or reach in your pocket to glance at one notification takes time and disrupts your train of thought. As a student, this helps me because most of my homework is either work on my computer or PDFs on my computer. It's faster and less distracting to glance at the top right corner of my computer screen than to pull my phone out of my pocket and put it back, and my train of thought is safe. You could even send notifications to other devices, Jailbroken or not, that have the Pushover/Pushbullet app installed. They say it can't with their EQ settings since they are drm protected but since it works with Spotify I thought there must be a way? Or maybe a way to pass the System audio through it? [Discussion] My Internet randomly stops working sometimes when I’m in jail broken mode Posted: 02 Apr 2019 06:13 PM PDT A lot of times during the day, my internet just randomly stops working and nothing works. The wifi shows to connection but nothing works until I reboot and enter into an unjailbroken state. In particular, my school internet just never works in jail broken state, is that some detection on their part or it's a tweak that's causing this. Is it a known problem? I only have like 3-4 tweaks installed (tweak compatible, eclipse and colour flow) and it still doesn't work. [Discussion] What’s jailbreak really for? Posted: 02 Apr 2019 02:23 PM PDT New (sort of) to the Apple ecosystem. iPad Pro and iPhone X user since last year. I have seen posts highlighting how 'jailbreak' is meant to 'compliment' iOS and Apple's design rather than modify its core function. I have also seen posts regarding apps not working on a jailbroken phone, I.e. Fortnite (I don't specifically play the game, but would like to know if there are others I should be aware of) I have also read different ways in which you can jailbreak your device, some of which do not require factory reset and will turn your phone back to normal once it is turned off. Question is, what is jailbreak really for at this point? Normally, once you 'root' your Android device you can do so much more inside your device. Is this the case with jailbreak? Am I able to access device hidden folders or uninstall system apps? Can I add widgets on my home screen or create an app drawer? What can I actually do?
