Macbook pro 13 (mid 2012) turns off after some second automatically.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 06:52 PM PDT

My macbook was working fine, then suddenly after charging (at a hospital) it, it started to turn off after few seconds. It boots up, i can login to my user, then do anything I like but the shutdown/restart/...... box comes up and it shuts off. I've tried resetting the smc, pram, installing new hard disk, formatting and reinstalling the mac os. Is there anything I can do?? Or do I need to have it checked by a technician and pay a huge bill??

Trying to install Windows 10 on my MacBook Pro. Boot Camp is limiting me to a 101GB Windows Partition When I have plenty more room. Help!

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 10:12 AM PDT

My specs: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) macOS Mojave 10.14.4 Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M

I am currently trying to boot camp Windows 10 Home April 2018 update 64bit but am running into trouble. I have downloaded the Iso and I have a 32GB usb 2.0 PNY flash drive. My issue at the moment is, as you can see in the picture, Boot Camp is for some reason limiting my Windows partition to only 101GB when I clearly have much more space available on my Mac HardDrive, notice how the "divide equally" button is grayed out also. I have looked around on google and youtube but no-one is clearly explaining the most practical method to solve this. I just want to play some windows steam games! Can ya'll help a dude out?? https://imgur.com/gallery/2o9Bu2c https://imgur.com/gallery/FIVr6am

    2017 5k iMac 27" Noisy fan(?)

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 05:53 PM PDT

    Hey all,

I have a couple of questions regarding my iMac. It's about 2 months old, sits in my room on a desk connected to a Dell U2515H using a thunderbolt cable. Over the past few days, I've been noticing the subtle sound of the fan and heat coming from the slits on the back of the iMac, right above where the power cord gets inserted.

Generally, I am running Chrome, YouTube, and VS Code. Not much more than that. I decided to take a look at the specs, and over the past over, connected and disconnected from the Dell monitor, my CPU temp. reads about an avg of 108 degrees, and Radeon Pro 570 at about 92 degrees. Fan is at about 1200rpm.

I'm not sure if this may be a problem, or this is the norm for iMac's.

    My Machine Specs:

    Mac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)

    3.4 GHz Intel Core i5

    8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

    Radeon Pro 570 4096 MB

    - Alongside this, I have, as I mentioned, a Dell UH2515H connected.

IPhone X doesn’t receive Calendar invites. Sometimes.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 09:27 PM PDT

I have an iPhone X running iOS 12.1.4. My wife sends me calendar invites from her iPhone (I think it's a 7s Plus) about the kids' dentist appointments and soccer games and so forth. Sometimes they show up. More often they don't. This has been a chronic problem since before I got the X.

Most of the webpages I've found discussing the issue have to do with people using the iCloud Calendar on equipment other than an iOS device and aren't apposite to my problem. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

AirPlay to AppleTV without mirroring iOS video apps?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 08:14 PM PDT

    Hey there!

    Question that's driving me insannnneeee.

I frequently AirPlay Spotify to my AppleTV. I also frequently browse Reddit.

However, whenever I do this, video posts from Reddit are sent to my TV screen, audio and all. I do not want this to happen. I just want to view Reddit on my phone and not my TV.

I checked control center and while it has a section for display mirroring, it doesn't let me disable it independently from AirPlay; it only lets me choose the AppleTV instead of the phone display.

    Any help is dearly appreciated!

    Thank you!

iOS 12.1.4 and current versions of Spotify & Reddit.

Podcast app that “normalizes” Sound level?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 11:17 AM PDT

I listen to podcasts while falling asleep, usually something like the "How stuff works" podcast. However these podcasts have little breaks where they play ads as well as obnoxiously loud music which is MUCH louder than the talking during the podcast, which is waking me up if I have already fallen asleep.

I have tried Overcast and this "Volume Boost" setting but it doesn't really help. Is there any podcast app that is capable of keeping the overall volume level the same throughout?

Using an iPhone as an external camera in iMovie?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 07:54 PM PDT

I'm trying to get an audio/video recording setup going and just realize that iMovie won't connect to my iPhone like a normal external camera. I guess I assumed this usage was anticipated and it would just work.

I've got the iPhone plugged into the USB, iMovie up, and when I go to Import, I only have the option of importing video I've already shot. This is a problem because I also need to capture sound simultaneously, but my little old iPhone 6s is perpetually close to full. I also don't want to mess with yet more cables and converters for the audio.

It would be great if I could just use the iPhone's fancy camera as a passive device for iMovie to capture from, like any other webcam. Apple Support doesn't seem to address this issue anywhere, and searching the web hasn't turned up any useful advice.

The computer is a MacBook Pro 2015, OS Mojave 10.14.2. The iPhone is a 6s with whatever the current iOS is.

    Thanks!

Setting up an Apple TV without a remote

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 03:13 PM PDT

In an attempt to try and resolve a stuttering audio problem I did something stupid: I restored my Apple TV to factory defaults. Having lost my remote ages ago and owning a MBA18 I now can't see any option to get it connected to the internet. I live in a shared apartment and getting an Ethernet cable is not an option, I'm afraid. The Bluetooth-option the Apple TV offers me for automatic pairing doesn't work either - both my iPad and my phone are completely unresponsive.

Does anyone have any idea how to get this beast running again? I'm not sure what generation it is, but I bought it way back in early 2012 so my guess is either 2nd or 3rd generation.

My Apple ID age is completely wrong, and I can't change it...

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 02:53 AM PDT

4 years ago, me and my dad created my Apple ID when the family stuff was released. Of course he forgot to change the year of my birthday, so apparently I'm born in 2014. We tried to contact apple because we couldn't change it ourselves, but they told us that we have to make a new ID, which is just stupid. Have anyone else experienced this and solved it? Being 4 years old means that I can't add anything to the wallet app, I can't add my own cards to app store etc.

Calendar and music widgets not working correctly

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 06:35 PM PDT

My calendar and music widgets are not showing events I have, or my music currently playing. I've tried deleting the widgets, restarting my phone, and adding them again, but it's not working. Any ideas how to fix? And my calendar events are not set as all day events. Thanks!

iPhone “Other” Storage grows no matter how much I delete

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 12:29 PM PDT

I have a IPhone 8 Plus 64GB, I got a notice to say my storage was full so I went to check and saw 32GB went to "other" I deleted some photos and unwanted apps but in doing so the "other" just grew to now 47 GB. Now basic functions are starting to not work because my hard drive is at capacity.

I do not use ICloud- I don't want to pay for online storage to fix this problem, because 47GB's of system on a 64 GB phone is ridiculous.

I have updated the phone, plugged it into my Mac, and backed it up, nothing has stopped the "other" from growing regardless of how much I deleted my phone storage remains at capacity.

I'm hestitant to do a factory restart and then use a backup because I believe the "other" storage will be stored in the backup.

I have personal photos and information on the phone that I don't want to lose.

Anyone had this problem? Or have any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it thanks!

2016 Mac Book Pro won’t boot up!

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 06:16 PM PDT

I have a 2016 Mac book pro 13" with Retina display. I was using it fine today until the battery died. Unfortunately, my charger was on its last leg and stopped working entirely today. I went to the apple store and picked up a new charger, and plugged it in. Orange light on the cable appeared like normal, and I let it sit for about an hour. When I came to boot it up, nothing happens!

I've looked online and tried the trick where you hold the power for 10 seconds, and then press power again — still nothing. I'm at a loss! Any ideas are appreciated!

    Macbook Air Keyboard 2015 Malfunction

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 05:42 PM PDT

Upon arriving at the account sign in screen, I began to type in my password, but the keyboard begins to malfunction so instead of typing "i" it will type multiple letters at once. Not "ii", but stuff like "<IoaE". I have tried to use shortcuts upon powering on like "Command + Option + Shift + P + R" to reset the keyboard, but it does nothing and takes me right to the sign in page again without reset. Any insight would be very helpful, thank you. (Macbook Air 2015)

Mac Mini: Powers on, start up sound, no display, screen switched from no signal to signal.

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 01:18 PM PDT

So I tried to power on my mac mini today (after about a week or more of not being used) and found it would not boot up.

It will turn on, i hear the chime, but no apple logo appears, nothing appears on the display. The monitor that is plugged into it continually switches from sleep mode (connected but no signal) to on (detects a signal).

I can't get into recovery mode, i can't run hardware tests, nothing.

    Ideas i can try?

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) RAM upgrade

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 12:40 PM PDT

According to Apple, my iMac can take up to 32gb of ram, but I've seen in a few places that it can actually take up to 64gb. Does anyone have any experience of using more than 32gb of ram in this iMac, and is there anything I should be careful about?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations as to which ram to buy, preferably available in the UK?

    Thanks!

Edit, I've been looking at this. I think it should work...

Transferring photos from iCloud to external hard drive

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 03:39 PM PDT

I want to back up my iCloud data to my hard drive. Problem is I only have access to an old, slow PC. The only way I can see to this is by downloading everything onto the PC before it can go on the hard drive, I don't think this PC will be able to handle 50GB at once like that. Is there anyway I can transfer data without downloading it first? Or is there a way to stagger the download and do it in chunks? Thanks!

Recent MPB slowdown (Planning RAM Upgrade, Maybe Hard Drive - Mid-2012)

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 05:37 AM PDT

I have a Mid-2012 MBP (2.3 GHz i7, 4 GB memory) that has recently begun having major slow-downs, hangups, and crashes. It's served me extremely well since 2012, but think it might be time for some upgrades. I'll be in a game (Civ 5) and it will crash randomly, watching YouTube/Twitch and freeze and need a refresh of the website (even using Ethernet). In the Activity Monitor, it says that I'm running up toward the 4 GB memory and disk utility says the hard drive is fine. So first, I'm wondering if these types of things happen from RAM or hard drive issues.

Looking here, it looks like I could do a couple of cheap and easy upgrades. Second, I'm wondering if these upgrades would possibly fix the issue. Third, thinking of going 16 GB, unless someone can explain why not. Also thinking of doing 500 GB hard drive since I have plenty of external storage.

It has the GeForce GT 650M 512 MB graphics card, when I first bought it, it had the graphics card glitches, but I haven't seen that since. I suppose it could be the graphics card? But, that doesn't really make sense for the issues I'm having.

Thoughts from anyone? Thanks for reading!

Macbook 12" needs PRAM reset before every boot

    Posted: 02 Apr 2019 08:57 AM PDT

Hello! I'm about to get myself a macbook 12" from 2015 which has a little problem. According to the guy I'm about to buy it from he says like this:

"The macbook needs a PRAM reset everytime you want to boot it. I've been into an Apple workshop which found no problems/error codes, they suggested to try changing the logic board. The computer have never died in the middle of work/while started! However, if it goes down in standby mode and it is not plugged in, it can die. However, it is never completely stone dead when it starts, but can be anywhere between 29-62%. (If you just closed the lid without the power cord in.) Had it in another workshop too that checked through it (not Apple) and they said that it is the "bios" circuit that can turn wicked on 2015 retina MacBook. Clearly, it should be possible to change only that circuit to make it work, which they wanted 250 bucks for. But since it still works perfectly when started, I decided not to do it."

For me that sounds like no problems. I very rarely turn off my computer anyways. Like, never ever. But I would still want to hear your thoughts about if this can grow into a bigger problem, or if this could be a bearable problem for a University student that just needs a cheap (350$) computer for schoolwork!

Thanks a lot for the help.

Getting Apple Music on my iPod

I have an iPod Classic that I want to use when camping off the grid, are there any reliable/spyware free programs out there that will pull music from Apple Radio (or Spotify) and get it on the iPod? I didn't find much info on what programs were safe when I searched.

Edit- yes, I am subscribed to and pay for both Spotify and Apple Radio
