Posted: 24 Apr 2019 06:51 PM PDT I'm currently looking for a laptop which is portable and light, and probably the best choice on the market is the macbook pro to according to my needs. But I could not decide if I should buy a 13 inch or a 15 inch one. I'm studying mechanical engineering so I will be using CAD/CAM programs like SolidWorks, Catia but I do not need to run the simulations so smooth since I have a decent desktop setup. And I will maybe playing some light games like League of Legends while doing my internship out of town to kill some time. Will the base model of 13" be enough or do I need to upgrade it to i7 and 16gb ram? Since it will be my only laptop, time-killing is also somewhat important, as I said I'm not expecting high FPS's or something, but i kinda need something to play, spend my off-work time. Dedicated gpus on 15"s will definitely handle this job but if 13" s onboard gpus will handle, I may choose 13" due to more portability and price. Which one would you choose? [link] [comments]

New battery capacity (mAh) Macbook Pro 15 2015? Posted: 24 Apr 2019 10:31 PM PDT Hello, I've been looking at used MBP 15" 2015s to buy and was wondering what the battery capacity of a new one starts at so I can see how much they've been used. It seems like the remaining capacity is the most important aspect of the battery as it indicates how much life is left, but people seem to care about charge cycle numbers more? Why is that - I've seen a fairly low number of cycles with a rather low capacity left in some, while some have high cycles but still have a higher amount of mAh left. [link] [comments]
Questions about MacBook Pro 2017 13” i5 8GB. Before buiyng.(for creative work) Posted: 24 Apr 2019 01:29 PM PDT Hello! Im thinking about getting MacBook Pro 2017 13" i5 8GB 128GB for creative work. Im an art student. I want to do experimental films(some 4k mostly 1080p will be edited.), graphic design, vfx and some music production (preferably on Ableton). I'm on a tight budget and can get only Base 2017 model. I know about keyboard problems, but Apple released 4year keyboard service program so I feel safe and don't worry. I also plan on buying external 4K monitor,3TB external Hard drive and a few dongles for it. If you're a MacBook user, an art student or person that uses it for creative work, please share your experiences.😊 I'll be thankful. And here are my questions: -If you have it; for how long? And what are your thoughts on it? -What are your thoughts on performance of this model?(from experience. I don't need comparisons of this one to 2018 model cause I can look up it on yt etc.)I'll be glad to hear what f.e. MBP 2016 users think about this model in comparison. -I want to know what accessories you'd reccomend for it. -What do you think of the display. -What are you're experiences with various software for creative work like Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Ableton etc. [link] [comments]

So many crumbs under MacBook Air keyboard... how to get them out?? Posted: 24 Apr 2019 02:57 PM PDT I left my 2018 MacBook Air at my sister's house for a couple of days and my niece got onto it and there are a TON of little crumbs under the keys that you can see when the keyboard is lit. How do I get them out? Any ideas? It's really bad. [link] [comments]
So, my 2014 MacBook Air did a weird and I’m worried. (Images inside) Posted: 24 Apr 2019 05:34 AM PDT IMAGES: https://m.imgur.com/a/Nleqqtd I have restarted it and it seems fine. However, I was just browsing reddit and drinking my morning coffee when the laptop locked up. It then showed the white, grainy thing as seen on the first image, and then the picture of the American flag going down. What does that mean? Should I be worried? [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Apr 2019 01:51 AM PDT Hello, fellow redditers. Seeing as Macbook Air charger has been handled poorly by me over the years, and the cord itself kinda looks like a peeled banana, with wires and electronics showing. I would like a new one, but as a student with a tight budget, buying an authentic Apple charger is very expensive. So I was wondering if anyone knew about any great third-party chargers, that isn't going to kill your laptop or burn down your house. Or if I should just cut a piece of my savings and buy an authentic one. I'm kinda scared for the health of my MacBook, and don't really wanna buy something that is going to screw up my computer. MacBook Pro 13" 2017 High Battery Consumption during Sleep Posted: 24 Apr 2019 02:42 AM PDT Hi guys, I know this is really a typical post you see from time to time. But I've been tried many methods I saw on the Internet with any success. I have a MacBook Pro 13" 2017 which is the basic model. I usually use it at home and only need to carry it out so the battery life wasn't really an issue for me. I've noticed that the battery drain was significant even I was not using the laptop for the entire day. For a 12 hours of sleep, the battery drain was about 20% which was really bad comparing to what Apple advertised. I sent the device back to Apple for diagnose and they claimed that with 10% to 20% of battery drain per day is normal. So I did search for solutions on the Internet and I tried to turn off the WIFI before closing the lid. It seems promising at the first few days with only a few percent of battery drain overnight, but then it then sometimes consumed over 10% overnight. So I tried to follow a post to change the hibernation mode from default to 25 which writes the data back to the SSD while sleeping, to save the power needed to keep RAM alive. But I immediately noticed it didn't work because it consumed over 10% of battery in about 10 hours of sleep. I am wondering if there's anyone had the same issue and came up with a promising solution? Mine is a MacBook Pro 13" 2017 with 256GB of SSD. The OS is the latest version of Mojave. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
