    3D Touching an Updating App

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 11:05 AM PST

Just by chance I came across this when 3D touching the wrong app. Thought this was a cool inclusion in the software and something I'd never seen anywhere, even on this sub or YouTube videos that show hidden details etc.

Has anyone else came across this before?

    Picture in link attached.

15 months in and my iPhone X still feels & functions like new

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 05:28 AM PST

    OG > 3G > 3GS > 4 > 4s > 5 > 6 > X

(Skipped 5s, 6s, 7 and XS) - out of the models I passed on, the only one I am surprised at is the 5s. Touch ID was huge.

I only buy new tech if it warrants it for my use cases (noticeable difference in daily speed, better hardware - camera/battery etc.).

    • 3G was essential for 3G data over the OG.
    • 3GS for speed and video recording.
    • 4 had that screen and a front camera.
    • 4s 1080p camera, battery and performance.
    • 5 bigger screen, better front camera and 4G.
    • 6 bigger screen, belated Touch ID & belated motion coprocessor.
    • X OLED, Face ID, camera, battery, performance and belated wireless charging.

By this point (over 1 year in) owning older iPhones I'd be ready for an upgrade, whether that be because of shortcomings of my current handset (battery, performance) or new exciting features on upcoming handsets. 15 months of owning the X I see nothing out there that I really want hardware wise in newer iPhones or Androids. I have no current issues either, I am completely content with utility of this phone...

    • Performance is stellar (no noticeable slowdowns since I got it still slices through my daily uses).
    • Battery is great (it's the first iPhone I've ever owned that gets me through an entire work day).
    • Pictures I take still impress me quality wise, especially Portrait Mode (but this is one area that is always improving, however not enough YET that I want to upgrade).
    • The gestures are so much of an improvement over the old Home Button for me (I'm at a point where I'm looking forward to replacing my work SE and iPad Air 2 just to be rid of the button).
    • Face ID still feels like magic like the introduction Touch ID and multi-touch on iPhones before it (trade off - it's a bit slower than Touch ID but it works with mucky/wet/gloved hands - win some, lose some).
    • Can't fault the screen (I'm one of them weirdos that doesn't watch Netflix on his phone so I haven't had an issue with iPhone screen quality since the 4).

One feature that I like but wouldn't buy a new phone for is great low light photos like the Hydra app or Pixel 3. So hopefully Apple's implemented it by the time I upgrade.

The iPhone 6 just about got me 3 years of use (it was really struggling for the last 5 or 6 months). I feel the X will comfortably do that.

Anyone else struggling to hold out for the second generation of AirPods? My first generation AirPods only last a little over an hour when listening to music.

    Posted: 07 Feb 2019 08:00 AM PST

After only 2 years of having them, it's battery life is only ~20% of what it used to be. Unfortunately, I've had switch to my old Powerbeats when I go running because of the battery life, which aren't nearly as comfortable as the AirPods and sound quality isn't as great either.
