Use different bluetooth devices for audio and mic? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 05:56 PM PST Hi. Is it possible to have two bluetooth devices (or one bluetooth, one wired) and have one provide the audio out and the other be the input mic device? I have a pair of wireless headphones that are great for listening, but if I try to use them for talking on the phone with any wind more than 5mph, the person on the other side complains that it sounds like I'm in a hurricane. I would really like to keep the headphones, and I am willing to buy an additional mic (wired or wireless) that could clip on and has better noise rejection. Is there any way to change the settings so the phone uses the earbuds for audio out and the mic for audio in? I have an iPhone 7, iOS 12.1.2 Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Cannot get rid of someone's email address from email search Posted: 10 Jan 2019 07:57 PM PST I've went through and deleted a contact's email address through gmail online and any old emails. No matter what if I type in the email in the search bar it still shows up under "People" on my iPhone. How do I get the email address to completely quit showing up on my phone. If it matters I have the my email on an iPhone and iPad. [link] [comments] |
How to retrieve deleted Contacts Posted: 10 Jan 2019 07:29 PM PST I deleted an old friend from my Contacts list in error. Is there any way to find out who it was if I have their phone #? [link] [comments] |
Why can’t I backup all my messages to iCloud? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 05:49 PM PST I just switched iPhones, but I backed everything up to iCloud first. Everything looked great until I noticed half of my messages were missing on the new iPhone. I went to settings in my old phone, then iCloud apps and noticed that messages weren't turned on. When I tried, I received a blurb that says "you cannot use messages with the Apple ID ......@gmail.com because it requires two-step authentication, and your account does not support it" Is it because it's a gmail account? My Apple ID is a gmail address, and that google account definitely has two-factor authentication turned on. Still nothing. What can I do to get my messages fully backed up? [link] [comments] |

Iphone SE powerless without charger Posted: 10 Jan 2019 10:54 AM PST On New Years while I was sleeping my iphone dropped in a cup of water, powering off in my sleep after being there until I woke. dried it off, left it in rice, took off the screen portion, wiped down the water inside and sat in the air for a few days to let it dry... And it turns on and works fine within 5 days, battery was a little warm at first but not noticeably damaged. Monday, I tried to send an email through my mail app with a warning about too many images, I try to send it through anyway. It doesn't go through and my service drains out while my phone goes into no service mode, nothing I can do to fix it (restarting, turning service on and off etc.) After connecting to wifi, my services are useable again, and the service returns after leaving the wifi area. When I get home I leave my phone off the charger, and eventually it dies, when I go to charge it, the phone has apple logo, but then shuts off, it then turns on again to the apple logo and shuts off again. It repeats indefinitely until I get frustrated and order a cheap battery online. The next day, the battery comes, I replace it, and as soon as the battery connects to the phone the area of the logic board where it's plugged in begins to heat up. The phone also tells me the battery is too low to turn on so I plug it in. I put it against cool surfaces so it doesn't heat up too much before turning on. But it gets to the apple logo and stays there, won't turn off without a hard reset. Every time I plug it in it stays on that screen. I let it sit for an hour and take a nap, and lo and behold, it's no longer heating up and now it's flashing on and off the apple logo screen again. Can anyone tell me what has happened and what the current situation may be? Perhaps if I get a more quality battery would that help? Do I need to take my phone in for a proper cleaning? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 04:33 PM PST I recently replaced my iPhone 7 with XS, and I can for the life of me not figure out how to change the PIN on my sim card, so I am stuck with the default one I can never remember. It used to be that you went into phone settings and scrolled all the way down, but the setting is no longe there. When I google this all the instructions say this exact same thing, but it appears to be outdated? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jan 2019 01:17 PM PST By the way, I have a good wifi connection on my home internet and can watch YouTube at 1080p absolutely fine. Additionally, I have 1.87gb of free space on my 128gb phone. Currently, running iOS 11.2.1. But, here's what I've noticed doesn't work:
That's just what I've noticed, though. Now, here's what I've tried to fix it:
The only avenue I haven't tried at this point is Resetting my whole iPhone and loading everything onto it again. I'm a dad and husband and constantly need access to my phone (I have a kid in high school and a toddler in daycare). Also, without knowing whether all my information CAN be loaded back onto my phone, I'm a bit worried about doing a full reset, even though I just made a backup, knowing that voice memo recordings of my child's birth might disappear. Anybody have any suggestions? p.s. I have Windows 10 on my PC. [link] [comments] |
A 44% battery phone’s battery died?? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 09:02 AM PST 15 mins ago or so I went into a taxi with 44% on my phone As I'm in the car it shuts down, boots back up, the colour of the booting screen changes from black back white icon to white back and black icon... then it says it has 9%- then shuts down again, does the thing again, then shuts down again and refuses to turn back on... then I plug it in like 2 mins after all that and it says it's 33%?? On top of this my signal for things like data and texts is slow and it feels laggy I need help as I use my phone to pay for things typically [link] [comments] |
iPhone and iCloud and iMac and syncing and data loss.. Help?! Posted: 10 Jan 2019 11:36 AM PST So, I'm writing this for a friend, because she's tech clueless, and I'm very proficient with tech. Unfortunately, she's stuck in another state and very busy. So, here's the gist of it from what I've been able to gather, and can ask more questions if you can tell me EXACTLY what to ask her, along with step by step instructions on how to do so. So, I received a text from her last night that she'd lost all her photos and videos. I asked what happened. She said she didn't want her stuff on the iphone anymore, and that she wanted it all on the imac. She said she did everything the way it told her to, but when she was done EVERYTHING was gone. Now, I'm not familiar with apple myself, I personally loathe it.. So I couldn't help her step by step too well, without doing a bit of research first.. Unfortunately, as I'm not familiar with the nuances of iOS, apple, iPhone, their support process, etc, I'm not entirely sure what the best course to take here is, or how to proceed. I did find enough posts to suggest she check her restore page on the devices/web to see if anything was there, it was not.. (shouldn't it be for up to 30 days or 180 days? i was reading?) I also advised her to check her photo feed? or stream? as a document claimed that anything deleted, regardless, could be recovered from there for up to a month. She said she can't recover that either. So, I suggested she contact apple support, as I had read that backups may be available, and that there's also iTunes backups that are available, in some capacity, for up to 30 days as well. They told her there's no way to recover any of it. Are they lying? could they be? might they be misinformed because of her lack of knowledge? What can I help her do/document/screenshot/ etc.. for anyone here to provide enough useful information to attempt to recover these items? Obviously worst case scenario, she'll need to pay for data recovery, but I told her, if she's careful not to use the phone much (she just did this yesterday, and contacted apple this morning, btw), that she'll have a higher rate of recovery than not, in case she decides she wants to attempt her own recovery with software. Also, as I said - no apple experience really, what data recovery software would be a good balance of the most affordable, and easy to use, for someone with little to no experience? Is that an issue? If so would one estimate a 4 hour trip to recover the data myself more cost effective/functional/ideal than buying software? I mean, I'm guessing regardless that the recovery process is about the same, correct? Thank you for reading this post, taking the time to respond, and any help you may offer to this problem. It will be much appreciated. As I said, anything you can offer as far as useful information would go a long way, and for the sake of expedited solutions, please, email me directly at username at gmail or just private message me here, and I'll try my best to respond, and we can chat via email, text, fb, take your pick. But, for the sake of the thread and free information, anything non private afterwards will be posted here to help shed some light on proper backup, sync, restoration, and support options in regards to iphones.
