2016 Macbook to 2017 Macbook Pro to 2018 Macbook Air - Some thoughts Posted: 10 Jan 2019 09:07 PM PST I held onto my 2016 MacBook for as long as I possibly could. I loved the thing to death, but it was just time to get rid of it. I still giggle over all the ooo's and aahs I got over it from peers when I first brought it to class. Over the years though it became laggy and couldn't hold a charge for very long anymore. I had rubbed off some of the rose gold paint where my palms rested, something that will probably keep me from ever buying another rose gold Apple item. Today, I finally made the plunge to upgrade to a 2017 MacBook Pro i5 model after doing research and comparisons between that model and the new MacBook Air. I thought I would love it and had my heart set on it being my new companion. I complained to my fiance that I would never get another MacBook or MacBook Air because I was disappointed with how laggy my 2016 model had become in a matter of only a few years despite routine maintenance and upkeep on everything. I never used it for much more than the average student would (plus some light gaming and graphic design) so as it struggled more and more with Photoshop or even having youtube and word open at the same time I knew it was time to upgrade. Once I had picked out my MBP I rushed home, booted it up, and immediately started playing with it. I did everything on it I knew I would find myself doing as a bit of a test run and found myself surprisingly underwhelmed. I really really wanted to fall in love with it, but as I sat it down to eat dinner I realized it just wasn't the machine for me. It was clunkier than I had hoped and felt too heavy in my lap. Something about the way the keys felt was a bit off and I kept accidentally placing my palm on the touch pad because it was just so large. I kept wanting to reach for my iPad Pro and put the MBP down. Don't get me wrong, It was fast and smooth, the new screen was gorgeous and it was a definite upgrade from my couple year old MB, but something about it just didn't sit right with me. Another hour went by with it, then one more and I found myself on the way back to Best Buy to return it. The sales person I had worked with before was still there and didn't understand what I was doing. He asked me multiple times (in various ways) if I realized that I was supposedly "downgrading". I almost changed my mind completely and just resolved to somehow make my iPad Pro (2018) work, but somehow I still came back home with the 2018 Macbook Air. I honestly turned it on expecting more disappointment considering what I had went through with the sales person and that I had just returned a machine with better specs on paper. To my complete surprise, I feel much the opposite. The new MBA feels perfect. It isn't too heavy, nor nervously light. The keys feel nice and click just the way I like. It runs beautifully and it's a gorgeous laptop. I'm not sure why, but I actually feel like it runs better than the Macbook Pro I had just used. I had experienced a few minor lags with the MBP (I guess I could chalk that up to indexing) that I never experienced with my new Macbook Air and something about the screen seems nicer too. I'm very happy now and don't regret my decision (yet) at all. I'm wondering if anybody else went through similar? Am I crazy for falling in love with the Macbook Air over the Pro? Where is the Files on the Computer Located? Posted: 10 Jan 2019 02:49 PM PST I just got my first MacBook and after using windows my whole life. I don't really get the finder app. Mainly in File explorer there is the This PC folder location. that has all the things saved on this computer and you can organize them into documents or music or videos. I don't know where to find that on my Mac. Do you get what I am saying? Thanks for you help. [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jan 2019 01:54 PM PST Is it worth buying a late 2010 MacBook Air in 2019?? It's for $200 is it worth buying it after 9 years? [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Jan 2019 03:20 PM PST I just got my new Macbook pro 15 inch (2018) and after a few hours I noticed that the bottom left and the top right corners of the trackpad are pretty much flush with the the rest of the body while the top left and bottom right corners are slightly lower. It's kind of annoying since I barely notice when a go off the trackpad. But on the other hand it's such a small difference that i can't even see it, I can only feel it. Is this normal or should I take it back to the store? [link] [comments]

Looking for maximum protection for 15" MBP Posted: 10 Jan 2019 07:36 AM PST Hey guys, I was trying to find the best way to protect my 15" macbook pro as much as possible. I'm talking durable protection for the outside, keypad, and screen. I came across these two shells: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075J5W2HM/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NCOAT55/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_7?smid=A3DVC6WBVNJ5RS&psc=1 but I was wondering how I can protect that exposed area of the laptop. Also, what kinds of options are available in terms of protecting the keypad/screen area. Any input would be appreciated! [link] [comments]
