iOS Jailbreak [Meta] Fireside Chat Vol 4 (Drama).

[Meta] Fireside Chat Vol 4 (Drama).

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 01:10 PM PST

    Hey r/jailbreak,

With all the recent drama we've been discussing how to prevent less drama on the subreddit (including speaking to developers who are unhappy about the drama) and have come up with a few ideas that could prevent so much drama. It can be damaging for a developer to be accused of something with no proof and then later on it is proved that it was incorrect.

    1. All posts accusing developers of something (such as breaking licenses or stealing code) must include proof that backs up your claims.

    2. We remove all posts like this until the user gives us correct proof via modmail and then they are allowed to post.

    3. We add a sticky comment on the post to say that it is not confirmed by the moderators and could be incorrrect. (This could still harm a developer's reputation however.)

These are purely ideas at this stage and we want to hear from you, the community, on what you feel about these ideas. Do you have any other ideas? Please let us know.

Just to clarify, this absolutely does not mean we won't allow posts that could cause drama. Banning those is not our intention. We purely want to make sure there are less drama posts submitted without correct proof that the claims are true.

    Thanks

    r/jailbreak mod team

    [Discussion] Should I Update MEGATHREAD

    Posted: 23 Jan 2019 05:00 PM PST

This post is in regards to s0rrymybad's exploit.

    What we know so far:

We know it works on iOS 11.4.1 - 12.1.1 however, there is confusion as to whether it works on 12.1.2

For those thinking about upgrading to 12.1.2, keep this in mind. There are some bugs on 12.1.2 that affects a small number of users but are bad enough to make you consider going to 12.1.1 instead.

As far as device support goes, it works on the A12 chip which means iPhone(s) Xs, Xs Max, and Xr. However, on the Security Update page for iOS 12.1.3 it says:

Available for: iPhone 5s and later, iPad Air and later, and iPod touch 6th generation

The Facetime bug affects iOS 12.1-12.1.3, hypothetically a tweak can fix this however,

    1. It won't be easy to make

    2. It would only help you when jailbroken

Which leads us to believe it will work on all devices that support iOS 12

Now the question becomes: Should I Update?

If you are on 12.0, 12.0.1, 12.1, Up to you if you want to risk losing your lower firmware

If you are on 12.1.1 - 12.1.2 (with no issues mentioned above), DO NOT UPDATE

If you already are on 12.1.3 - DOWNGRADE

If you are on iOS 11.4 - 11.4.1, something is in the works according to tihmstar

If you are jailbroken on iOS 11.0-11.3.1, it's up to you if you want to risk your jailbreak

If you are on iOS 10 or below, it's up to you if you want to risk your jailbreak but gain app support/new features

AS ALWAYS: LOWEST POSSIBLE FIRMWARE = BEST CHANCE OF JAILBREAK

DONT FORGET TO SAVE BLOBS FOR 12.1.1-12.1.2

    Some FAQs:

    How do I upgrade/downgrade?

    Downgrade

    Upgrade

Where can I download the IPSW? From ipsw.me

How long do I have to decide? Nobody knows when Apple will close the signing window.

What are the benefits up updating to 12.1.1 or 12.1.2 if I'm on 12.0-12.0.1? Here is a detailed changelog of bug fixes and features.

Why are there 2 versions of iOS 12.1.2? There was a bug in the first version which prompted Apple to push a newer version. If you upgrade to iOS 12.1.2, go with the newer one.

Wen ETA? The exploit itself (source code) will not be published. A Dev will need to piece it together from the write-up however, the write-up contains all it takes to get tfp0 according to s0rrymybad. Additionally, even with this bug, iOS 12 still needs more work done to make a jailbreak happen.

This post was made to give you all the facts to let you make an educated decision.

For the next month or so, all posts that fall into something that this post answered will be removed and linked to here.

If any info is missing, feel free to let me know!

Edit 1 (1/24/19 | 10am EST): If you plan on getting an Apple Watch with watchOS 5, look for compatibility between iOS versions

Edit 2 (1/24/19 | 12pm EST): The new Smart Battery Case from Apple works on the iPhone X on iOS 12.1.2. BUT it does not work properly as per EverythingApplePro. This was fixed in 12.1.3

    Edit 3 (1/29/18 | 9am EST): Added Facetime bug

[Release] iRestore: Windows GUI for futurerestore

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 05:12 PM PST

Note: I'm not responsible for any damage to your device, use at your own risk.

On a thread earlier, I said I could make a GUI for futurerestore, so I did. This has not been fully tested, but should work exactly the same as using it through a terminal (no extra risk of messing up device). It uses s0uthwest's already compiled version of futurerestore.

    What does it do?

    • iRestore is a GUI wrapper for futurerestore. It allows you to upgrade/downgrade your iOS to versions that Apple doesn't want you on anymore.

    • Will automatically download the latest futurerestore when run for the first time

    • No dependencies

This probably won't work with Wine on Linux, but with a little tweaking it will. I also don't have a Mac so no Mac version for now

Please let me know if you encounter any issues!

    Screenshot

This download link will always be the most recent version.

    As always, source code here.

And finally, if you like my work, please consider supporting me. It helps a lot and motivates me to make more projects like this.

[News] jelbrekLib (most of it) now works on iOS 12. Read README to see current status

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 12:54 PM PST

Jake James updated JekbrekLib for the past 2 days and it is now mostly working on iOS 12.

    Currently working:

    • Root

    • Unsandbox

    • Kernel execute

These work and have been tested on my iPhone 8 (A11) on iOS 12.1.2.

This is not a full jailbreak, there are still several factors to overcome, (see the README for latest) which are needed to get a jailbreak in the traditional sense.

Huge props to Jake James for open sourcing JelbrekLib and allowing others to contribute and learn.

    GitHub Link: https://github.com/jakeajames/jelbrekLib

Edit RootlessJB will be updated, and due to the nature of that jailbreak presumably doesn't need CoreTrust patches. https://twitter.com/jakeashacks/status/1090714729608331270?s=21

[Release] iOS 12 Resolution Changer based on Osiris12

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 06:36 PM PST

note: A9 (iP6s) and up only until someone smarter than me fixes the other devices

exploit apparently doesnt work on XS or XR

This is a hacked up resolution changer using OsirisJailbreak12 by GeoSn0w with code jacked from here

Use at your own risk blah blah blah, I am not responsible if you fuck up your device

edit: you can use the ipa if you have a compatible device

To use: download the xcode project and edit com.apple.iokit.IOMobileGraphicsFamily.plist's width and height fields to your liking. Possible resolutions can be found on google. Build and Run, once it's on your device, tap jailbreak and then hit dismiss once it's done. Device will respring and your resolution should be changed.

Don't set the width higher than the height if you like your device

edit3: if you get glitches and want to revert easily, follow this comment

edit: check out u/Portalfan4351's comment here if you mess up

If you fuck up your device and have a black screen, login to icloud.com and click erase device or whatever it's called. This afaik will cause you to lose all your data, so backup beforehand

    Credits:

    GeoSn0w for OsirisJB12

    Jonathan Levin for QiLin

Brandon Azad for the tfp0 exploit

    Xerub(?) Patchfinder64

    edit2:

    ipas

no clue if these'll work but here goes

apparently works on SE (could i get some confirmation ?) 1472x828 thanks u/orz_nick for the ipa

    1472x848 (for non plus 6s/7/8)

    defaulter for non plus 6s/7/8

    edit:

people have reported glitches, these are only visual

If you do testing, please post device and tested res in a comment so i can put them here

    Tested so far:

    iPhone 6s/7/8 (Non Plus):

    1334x750 (stock res)

apparently 1472x828 works better and is less glitchy, so consider that

[Release] Electra for iOS 11.4-11.4.1 is out!

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 04:11 AM PST

[Tutorial] iOS 12.1.1 could stop being signed! Downgrade now!

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 03:16 PM PST

    Hello guys,

this is a reminder about downgrading. If you are on iOS 12.1.3 hurry up and downgrade to iOS 12.1.1, it is still being signed. 1. Go to https://ipsw.me/ 2. Choose your device 3. Choose your iPhone model 4. Select iOS 12.1.1 or any other version below 12.1.3 (which are highlighted green) 5. Download 6. Connect your phone via lightning cable to your computer 7. Launch iTunes 8. Click on your device 9. Press on "check for updates" while holding down the option-key 10. Choose your downloaded iOS version (it should have the extension .ipsw) 11. Click on install 12. Wait 13. ??? 14. Profit

That's it, you are on iOS 12.1.1 (or any other version you chose)!

But again, hurry up! I hope everyone is downgrading before it's too late. If you don't have time for that, just go to https://tsssaver.1conan.com/ and fill in everything (you can get the ECID from iTunes), that will save your blobs which you can use later to downgrade to any iOS 12 version which is currently released and is being signed. You can downgrade even after the iOS version got unsigned, but only if you save your blobs now!

    Happy jailbreaking!

[Update] Electra v 1.2.1 is out (Fix build number so 11.4 - 11.4.1 works properly)

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 09:54 AM PST

[Tip] Use voucher_swap exploit instead of empty_list on iOS 11.2 - 11.4.1 on A8 and above devices since it’s much more reliable (90% success rate).

    Posted: 30 Jan 2019 10:26 AM PST

This is really helpful since now you don't need signing services or a $100 certificate to use multi_path.

Edit: A9 and above, (iPhone 6S and above.)

Edit 2: Apparently some iPhone X users are having issues with this (voucher_swap) exploit. I'm pretty sure pwn is aware of it.
