I fell today, and my Apple Watch made sure I was okay. Posted: 16 Jan 2019 05:50 PM PST We had the thinnest layer of frozen rain on our driveway this morning, and I took a very hard fall. As I was getting over my shock and processing whether I had seriously injured myself, my watch asked me: Had I fallen? Was I okay? It was amazing how I immediately felt less vulnerable. It was like a friend was checking on me to make sure I was okay. I was alone when this happened, so this was really significant. When I set up detect a fall on my Apple Watch, I didn't really expect it would ever be used. I'm 44 and healthy. It's not often people talk about this feature, largely because it isn't often that people fall. I wanted to share my story, though, because Apple really knocked it out of the park with this feature. Thank you, Apple! [link] [comments]

Has anyone assembled a list of watch apps with cool looking complications? Posted: 17 Jan 2019 02:39 AM PST I'm looking for dynamic stuff, especially with stock iOS app integrations. So far I've found:

[Question] How do the watch bands do underwater. Posted: 17 Jan 2019 07:59 AM PST Are the bands water resistant, are there special ones that are water resistant or will I be fine with any band in the water. [link] [comments]
Is the LTE Modem Active Even When There Js No Data Plan? Posted: 17 Jan 2019 07:00 AM PST Seems like I'm getting worse battery life on a series 3 LTE vs my old Series 2 (I know it's not apples to apples comparison). Just curious if the LTE modem is used for location services and if that can be causing some battery drain. When I'm working out outdoors, the battery drain on the S3 LTE is 5% for 30 mins and my old S2 would drain 2% at most. [link] [comments]

Watch bands causing itching after a year? Posted: 17 Jan 2019 05:25 AM PST I got my first Apple Watch in 2016 - a Series 2 with sports band. I run quite often with it, and usually rinse the band with water after exercising. I would get a Nike band in 2017 after experiencing some itching and irritation on the bottom of my wrist. Now, I am starting to see the same irritation with my Nike band as well. Has anyone had similar experiences? I run pretty often (4-6 times a week), and so wash my watch and band that many times a week. Seems like these bands last about a year on average before whatever protective coating they have on them wear off? Or is there some trick to maintaining these bands which I am simply not aware of? Anyone use this portable watch charger? Am I doing something wrong? Posted: 17 Jan 2019 05:03 AM PST I got this off amazon awhile back because I saw someone say it worked well in a comment on a post here. Well not sure wtf I'm doing wrong here but it doesn't seem to actually charge my series 1 watch. I charged the device fully yesterday, turned it on and all blue lights were lit showing full charge. Put the watch on it and all it did was boot up to the Apple logo then turn off for the next 3 hours... the device got to one blue light and I said f it and took the watch off and tried powering it on and got nothing. Damn thing didn't charge at all. Anyone experience issues with this thing? Portable Wireless Apple Watch... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N4KTZPP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share [link] [comments]
Can I trigger a specific predefined action directly from the watch face? Posted: 17 Jan 2019 03:35 AM PST Hi, I'm currently deciding if I should buy an apple watch and its basically one huge use case I would need. I already searched but did sadly not find a clear answer and I sadly do not know anyone with an apple watch. I have some bad habit I want to get rid of. For this reason I currently have a Siri shortcut on my iPhone. Whenever I do the habit I grab my phone and trigger the shortcut which adds the date to a note. With that I can later on analyze my behavior. Is it possible to trigger a simple Siri shortcut (which does not open any app) directly on the watch face? Or alternatively IFTTT would be fine too. Its just important to me that its very quick. So looking on the watch face and then only one click. Not opening an additional app on my watch and doing multiple clicks, as this would be not faster then with my phone. I hope someone can clarify it for me. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Can the Apple Watch connect to Bluetooth enabled gym equipment? Posted: 16 Jan 2019 11:47 PM PST I was curious about whether or not the Apple Watch can connect to non-GymKit enabled gym equipment. Anyone have experience with this? [link] [comments]
Apple Watch Mistakenly Called 911 Posted: 16 Jan 2019 11:22 PM PST I work in an emergency veterinary hospital (CVT) and I was going to the parking lot to get a dog that had been seizing for the past hour on and off. As I was taking him (about 60 pounds) out of the car to put him on the gurney he began having a seizure again. I rolled him back to ICU and had another CVT help place a catheter to administer emergency drugs. While I was holding the patient (who was violently thrashing) we heard this strange ringing sound. I have never called emergency services from my watch so I had no idea it was coming from me. My hand was stuck between my seizing patient and the gurney so I couldn't look at my watch. Then, this man began talking, all while we are administering drugs to this patient to stop the seizure... he asked if we had an emergency. I was obviously confused bc, why yes, we actually did but where the hell is this voice coming from? I then looked at my watch once my patient was stabilized and realized it had called... you have to hold down the crown and swipe to call emergency services, idk how that happened at all. Would a watch call 911 without those actions if it thought it was me seizing instead of the dog? I let the man know I was fine, that it was an accidental call from my watch and hung up. I feel like an asshole for taking up someone's time when they could have been on the phone helping someone with a true emergency. [link] [comments]
Watch alarm not audible with alert volume on lowest setting? Posted: 17 Jan 2019 02:10 AM PST This morning I got late for an important business meeting because I couldn't hear the alarm coming from my S4 AW. It was in nightstand mode with the alert volume on the lowest setting, and that seems to affect the volume of the alarm too. I just want it to be silent for everything except the alarms - is that possible at all? [link] [comments]

Posted: 16 Jan 2019 09:43 PM PST I was curious at what level everyone has their high and low warnings set at? Example: if I have the high heart warning set to high and something happens below that, it's made pointless at that point. [link] [comments]
NRC sync to Strava, has anyone done this? Posted: 17 Jan 2019 12:44 AM PST Hi there, I was looking to train for a half marathon and since I've got the nike+ I wanted to use NRC. I've heard moving your data to Strava can be a real pain in the backside, is this true? If so, what do you do to sync your data onto strava? Thank you [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Jan 2019 12:26 AM PST I have the Beats wireless along with the new series 4. Some days I get the notification sound for messages, apps etc through my headphones. Other days I can hear it on my watch whilst I'm listening to music. Anyone else have this issue and know how to solve it so I can always hear notifications through the Beats? [link] [comments]
If I reset the fitness calibration data on my Series 2 watch, will it delete past workouts? Posted: 17 Jan 2019 12:21 AM PST Essentially, I don't think that my watch is tracking my activity accurately, or as accurately as it could. I've had it for about a year and a half so far I think, and for some reason I never set the health data*, which I discovered today. Needless to say I started there and did that. Resetting the calibration is obviously an option, but I didn't want to lose past data. Is there anything else I could do to help improve the accuracy? *I'm a 24F and 5'2"and only 104 lb. (i.e., well under the average weight). [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Jan 2019 11:33 PM PST Hi, today my AW S3 42mm randomly stopped working and won't charge or respond to anything. I'm going to mail my watch into Apple and they are sending me a shipping box for it. It's out of warranty and I think it could be a power or battery issue so could they replace the battery? It was at 98% just before it broke. It isn't my fault and Battery services are £80 so would I have to pay that or will they just send me a new Watch? I plugged it in and got an Apple logo after s few tries then it turned to a red Apple logo for a second then turned off. Also I can't unpair it from my iPhone because the watch isn't detected due to it not working or turning on. My Watch is on 5.1.2 and my phone is on 12.1.2. [link] [comments]
