How to entirely disable sleep on a Macbook Posted: 31 Jan 2019 10:01 PM PST While trying to play music with the lid closed I discovered that Macbooks go to sleep when closed, and there isn't an option to disable it. There are loads of utilities on the app store, but none of them worked for me. After a lot of digging I discovered a command which will disable sleep on a Macbook. In the terminal type If you don't mind a little bit of technical setup, there is a script here which will allow you to just type I use this command on a 2015 MBP. [link] [comments]

Buying used 13” Pro 2016 question Posted: 31 Jan 2019 04:43 PM PST I'm considering buying a used MacBook Pro 13 on eBay and from the description everything checks out. What I want to know is how can I fully confirm there's nothing the previous user has left installed (ie spyware)? Could I take it to an Apple store to get checked? [link] [comments]
Really bad frame drops on Awesomenauts on 2018 MacBook Air. Posted: 31 Jan 2019 10:11 AM PST I am getting really bad Frame drops on Awesomenauts on my new MacBook Air 2018. I know macs aren't good at gaming but my laptop that was ten years old could run it no problem. What can I do to fix it? [link] [comments]
Do you guys like the keyboard in the newer macbook pro? Posted: 31 Jan 2019 12:41 PM PST The low key travel is a bit of a bummer to me. I haven't seen a lot of complaints about it so I am curious on what most people think about the direction Apple is going with this. [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Jan 2019 11:12 AM PST I have a 2010 MacBook Pro with 4 gig ram and 256 gig HD. I bought it used 3 years ago and it definitely served its purpose and has been great. It is working alright but it is definitely slowing down now. I was going to update the ram and hard drive but seeing as it is no longer going to be supported software wise I am looking to just buy another used or refurbished one. I don't have money to buy new. I'm torn between buying another MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air. Probably around 2014-2015 models or newer since I want them to be supported for a little longer. I hate Windows, so buying a different laptop would be out of the question for me, though I am fully aware I could get a new laptop for cheaper if it wasn't a Mac. My main use would be for masters courses I am thinking about taking online (as soon as I get a new laptop). It is recommended to have at least 8gb ram and 256gb hard drive or more for these classes. Any insight would be helpful! TIA [link] [comments]

Value of a MacBook Pro 2015 (faulty) Posted: 31 Jan 2019 03:39 AM PST Thinking of making the switch to an iPad Pro, so considering selling my MacBook, but no idea what to charge. After staingate it has a brand new screen with very minimal damage around the unit. However, the keyboard works intermittently and may be down to either a swollen battery or faulty trackpad cable. Due to being somewhat confused about how it's actually faulty, not sure what to charge. What would you pay or would you even buy a faulty MacBook? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Jan 2019 02:48 AM PST I work in UI design and finally making the switch to apple. I was very close to buying a 13" 256gb macbook with touchbar but after second thoughts I realised I could double my hdd, sacrificing the touchbar. I was just planning to make do with google drive/ext hdd and make do, with about 80gb worth of apps and the rest on work things since I have all my personal media and files on a server anyway. I thought the touchbar would be useful since I like macro's a lot and never touch the top row anyway. What do you guys think? [link] [comments] |
