How to keep an MBP screen clean? Posted: 18 Jan 2019 10:40 AM PST "Don't get it dirty," right? I'm careful to not touch the screen of my 2015 MacBook Pro (retina), but from time to time I'll accidentally touch the screen. I use my laptop pretty much all day at work and home, and every morning I need to clean it. Thing is, it takes like ten minutes. Even a single fingerprint takes a while to clean off, because it's almost like I'm just smearing the smudge around instead of cleaning if off. I use a clean old t-shirt or microfiber cloth, with a little bit of diluted surface or window cleaner on it, and more elbow grease than I'm comfortable with. I'm afraid that the pressure that I put on it will eventually harm the screen under the glass. Is there some level of screen protection I can get that is easier to clean? Is there a more appropriate method of cleaning it? [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 06:06 PM PST I opened my MacBook up today and the screen is black and the keyboard is unresponsive. I've tried doing all of the resets with the keyboard and there's no luck. Only thing that works is the power button and the white white light on the edge. I called apple and they tried to do all the resets with me and they didn't work. Any help would be awesome! What SD card to expand storage on 2015 MBP 13"? Posted: 18 Jan 2019 05:13 PM PST I have a 13" Early 2015 MBP and I'm reaching the capacity of my 256GB. I want to expand the storage and was debating replacing the SSD but I'm opting out for a more straightforward solution. I'm looking at some SD Cards, I know Jetdrive provides some, but they're a little bit out of my price range. I'm looking for a more affordable option. I've read up on the BaseQi Adapter and then getting an Sandisk Ultra HOWEVER, I've seen some posts of people having issues with a 256GB SD Card. Is there a limit to what would work? What other possible SD Cards could I get? The Samsung EVO is another one that comes to mind. [link] [comments]

Issue upgrading ram? (MacBook 7,1 mod-2010) Posted: 18 Jan 2019 04:26 PM PST Hey guys! I asked a question here a while ago about upgrading the ram on my 2010 MacBook and in the end I decided on 8 GB of ram. Well, looking through my parents old laptops, I found two sticks of 4GB DDR3 2Rx8 sticks. The issue is when I put both into the MacBook, it beeps (what happens when there is a ram problem). It won't work if I use both new sticks, but if I use one new stick and one old stick it will boot and be able to utilize both. Any ideas on why this is happening and how I could get both new sticks working? I would prefer to not have to buy anything as I'm already going to be upgrading to a SSD in this machine, and don't have too much cash left over. Thank you all in advance! [link] [comments]
Slight give/wiggle on Macbook 12" lid? Posted: 18 Jan 2019 03:41 PM PST I don't know exactly how to describe it; if you push the lid with your finger, it moves either forward or backward very easily but just a few cm and then it has resistance, if you push further with more force you either start to open or close the lid obviously. Or, just pinch the lid between your fingers and wiggle it back and forth (as if opening or closing), it'll move a few cm and then you'll feel some resistance. What happens with this is for example, when I use the laptop on the train, the movement will make the lid wiggle back and forth just a bit sometimes. I bought this used, the lid seems fine otherwise. It doesn't close under its own weight until the last inch or so of bringing the lid down. Has anyone noticed this? My friend's Macbook 12" has it as well. Just wondering if it's normal, doesn't bother me but don't want it to get worse. I read some people took theirs to a store out of warranty and they tightened the screws that hold the hinges and that fixed it. Edit: I guess a better way to describe it would be a "bounce". If you open the lid (easiest to notice this at around 80-90 degrees of opening), push it as if closing it just once with your finger, you'll feel it move easily and then some resistance, at that point let go and it will bounce for a few seconds and return to the original position) [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jan 2019 08:03 AM PST So as the title states, I have an early 2011 MBP that's extremely laggy these days. I have 4 gigs of RAM installed from the factory and I just received a quote to bump that up to 8 gigs for $150. My two questions are is this a reasonable quote and #2 is it worth it in the end for an 8 year old machine. No other problems with it either, the body is in perfect condition. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Dual Monitor Dock for Macbook Pro 15” Retina (w touchbar) Posted: 18 Jan 2019 07:46 AM PST Can anyone recommend a dock? This is for a home studio so I won't be docking/undocking much as if I were in an office. Id like to keep it around $150. My dual monitors are IPS 1920 x 1080 wide screen monitors. Amazon - 2018 13" MBP tb Upgraded Ram? Posted: 18 Jan 2019 07:22 AM PST I was fortunate enough to recycle a ton of older iPhones and now have a bunch of gift cards. The last time I did this I used Amazon to consolidate those. I'm doing it again to purchase a new MBP but would like to upgrade the RAM to 16gb. I don't see that option on Amazon. Has that model been on their site to anyone's knowledge or seen where you can upgrade RAM? Looks like only processor and storage can be upgraded. Bonus points if you have a better way to use 25 gift cards to order direct from Apple. [link] [comments]

Purchase help of monitor for MBP 13" Posted: 18 Jan 2019 06:43 AM PST I'm looking to buy a monitor for use at home. I will mainly use it for coding, reading documentation and similar stuff. No need for fancy settings a video or graphic designer would require. For the moment I have slimmed down my choice to one of these 3:
The monitor should be > 27" and just be decent. My price range is around 300 Euro. [link] [comments]
