| Spilled tea on my Macbook Air....ughhhh Posted: 18 Jan 2019 12:58 PM PST Hey all So I spilled tea (actually, a hot toddy, with honey and alcohol...yes) on my MBA mid-2013 earlier this morning. Initial reaction was to quickly wipe off the keys, then I turned it upside down for a little. Don't recall if I unplugged or left plugged in but for whatever stupid reason after cleaning up the mess I resumed using it. Then *kaput* the screen went blank and the unit wouldn't power back on... I have a bad feeling about this. Any suggestions on what to do besides praying, hoping, or ordering a new Mac? lol... and this had to happen in the middle of a nasty cold, to top it off... smh [link] [comments]  |

I've just noticed there's a small backlight leakage in the area above the home button. Is this enough to go and request replacement or am I nitpicking and this is alright? Thank you! | Trying to report an AppStore developer Posted: 18 Jan 2019 06:34 PM PST Hello everyone, New to this subreddit, and am not sure if this question suits here anyway. Would be very nice to inform me if I posted on the wrong subreddit. I am trying to figure out how to report a developer in the AppStore as stated in the title. Do you think it is worth the time? Where one is gone another comes, or not? I was browsing the AppStore for games to have fun with and found some „games" that are falsely advertised. Turns out all the developers releases are falsely advertised with even pictures in the description from games I know, most of them being Triple A titles for the consoles. | Posted: 18 Jan 2019 09:44 PM PST The symptoms are; when attempting to turn on the WiFi, either form the control center or in settings, nothing responds. In settings the "switch won't respond to touching it. There's nothing wrong with the touchscreen function as that area works in other apps. Possibly unrelated but it is making a very quiet squeal around the right speaker. With or without it being connected to a charger. Does get louder when connected to a charger(Apple brand). Doesn't make sounds when off and not on a charger. And help is appreciated. [link] [comments]  |
| Aftermarket replacements and Apple warranty Posted: 18 Jan 2019 09:23 PM PST Hi, I'm currently in Vietnam and the keyboard on my new 2018 Macbook Pro has broken. I've taken it to an unofficial shop to be looked at and they've confirmed the keyboard needs to be replaced and have offered to replace it with an official UK Apple keyboard. I'm going to be in Spain next week where there are legitimate Apple shops and should be able to live with out the laptop for a week. Are there any ramifications of me getting this independent guy in Vietnam to replace the keyboard? Will that violate any Apple warranties or anything else? The laptop is less than a year old so still in warranty and I could just take it to an Apple store in Spain when I arrive. What should I do please? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 18 Jan 2019 04:52 AM PST So, sometime in may last year I dropped my phone and the camera glass shattered while the lens is fine. It worked perfectly for a few months after which dust kept getting in and has made the camera very hazy. I went to the Apple store and they quoted me a price of $500 (I live in Melbourne, AU) which I cannot afford. They told me that only the glass needs to be replaced. I went to some local repair stores and they all tell me that my camera lens to be replaced and refuse to just fix the glass. They quote me a price of $100 above to fix both the issues. I do not wish to replace the camera lens since I know it is very good and don't really want to go for a cheap alternative. My question is, should I buy a glass and ring online and try to fix it myself or if I will be spending over $200 are there any better lenses or alternatives that could improve the camera's performance. I tried turning it on again but it get stuck in the apple logo. The logo twitches a little bit and then it turns off again. I tried charging it. | Posted: 18 Jan 2019 06:39 PM PST I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS. HERE ARE the references to the terms when i use them just so its clearer. "PAIRED" means like it was linked to the device (like when u just got the airpods and ur setting it up or ur "pairing " it up to ur phone. "Connected" means its already been paired but ur connecting to the device so u can use the airpods to listen or whatever. "Disconnect" means its already been paired and "was connected" but it was turned off and not being used anymore. so my questions are : 1)If its paired on my device already, and someone stole it and paired it on his/her device and say its currently in use by that person who stole it can u find the location of that person at all? If yes, can u find it only if its within bluetooth range or can u find it even if its beyond the bluetooth range? If no, why?? AND WHAT IF it wasn't currenlty in use by the person who stole it but that someone paired it already to his device would i still be able to find the location of the airpods and if yes could i find it if its ONLY in bluetooth range or can i be able to find it even if its beyond that bluetooth range? 2) would using findmyiphone to find my airpods only show me the location of the last time I connected to them on MY DEVICE and could it show me the location of when anyone else or anyone/someone else in general thats not me has connected to their own device and where they are? pretty much what im trying to say is if i can track my airpods if someone else paired with it and is/isn't connected(does this affect the result?) and if it does work,does it have to be within bluetooth range or not within bluetooth range? OR Does find myiphone only show me the last time my own device connected to the airpods? or can findmyiphone also show me when the airpods to any device(doesn't have to be mine but anyones device)(referring to when someone else finds it and pairs it and connects to it) [link] [comments]  |

| Need help syncing new iPhone with old iTunes library without losing any songs Posted: 18 Jan 2019 02:22 PM PST A few months ago, I got a new iPhone. In the store they transferred content of old phone to new one. The old phone had previously been linked to my iTunes account on an old computer. Music library on phone was only a fraction of my entire iTunes library. When I tried to sync the new phone with my iTunes library, it synced the content of the phone to the iTunes library instead of the other way around. In other words, the 63 songs on my iPhone replaced the 937 songs in my iTunes library. I've spent the last few months rebuilding my iTunes library from my CD collection. When I try to sync the phone to the library, I get the message "syncing "X iphone" with this iTunes library will replace media from another iTunes library on "X" computer". I think this is the same message I got the first time I tried to sync my music and ended up losing hundreds of songs. I understand the whole "an iPhone can only be paired with one computer" concept now. How can I get the music FROM my iTunes library on the new computer TO the new iPhone music library? | Posted: 18 Jan 2019 02:52 PM PST Hello, So a couple months ago I had an iPhone 8 that was working until one day the wifi "greyed out" while I was in university. So I tried resetting networks, doing a hard reset, etc but none of those things were working. I finally decided that it was most likely a hardware issue. During the winter break, I got a new iPhone XR with the newest ios version and everything was fine. The day I went back to university, the wifi worked for a couple hours but greyed out again. Is it possible that it is a hardware issue again, or is there something wrong with my apple account/ university wifi account? Is there a way of fixing this? Thank you [link] [comments]  |
| Lightning to USB 3 adapter - Lightning port not working correctly Posted: 18 Jan 2019 02:30 PM PST Bought a lightning to USB 3 camera adapter which has both a USB and a lightning port. The USB port works fine, but the lightning port only works with charging cables and I want to use it with a lightning to auxiliary cable. Tried a regular aux cord with a dongle on one end and tried another that was just a straight lightning to aux cord, yet both result in my iPhone saying "This accessory is not supported by this device" immediately upon being plugged in. Is this a way around this? I have an iPhone 7 that's fully updated, and the adapter is from Apple so it can't be a result of a knockoff adapter dysfunctioning. [link] [comments]  |
| Force-quit Finder without ability to click things? Posted: 18 Jan 2019 10:19 AM PST On boot: Finder starts but SBBOD also starts immediate and has been going for a couple of hours. Mouse and trackpad movement works, but I clicking does not. So I can open Force Quit from keyboard, but I cannot click Relaunch. So I have been looking at this all day. Before I go full rebuild-mode I want to try at least to restart Finder, but I can't find any way to relaunch, and I can't start any programs.

| iPhone 8 Plus (iOS 12.1.2) making camera shutter sound randomly Posted: 18 Jan 2019 09:53 AM PST Last night I was listening to music with my phone connected to a bluetooth speaker. Three times the music stopped and made the camera shutter sound. I checked to see if there was any photos taken or screenshots but there was none. I decided to just turn off the phone for the night. Woke up today and used my phone and there was two pictures saved from a really specific meme page that I know I didnt save. The time dated for them was like the minute or two after I turned my phone on. This has me a bit freaked out and Im wondering if my phone is compromised somehow. What should I do? | MacBook Air 2013 logic board replacement Posted: 18 Jan 2019 01:38 PM PST My 2013 MacBook Air randomly wouldn't turn on a few days ago. I brought it into the Apple store and was told that my logic board is fried. They can replace it for $475. Obviously I'm questioning whether it's worth spending the money to repair this laptop or if I should just get a new one. $475 isn't gonna get me a new laptop (even though I would consider a non-Apple laptop as a replacement to save some money), but I don't want to pay for the repair if other parts are gonna start failing in the next few months. | Posted: 18 Jan 2019 12:57 PM PST I went to free up space on my iPhone using Google photos now it says backup complete and I have to tap to get free up the space but all my photos went away and are now replaced with white squares where they used to be, can I reverse the effect of this and bring my photos back? Through this entire process i have to also navigate with my keyboard, clicking on my trackpad doesn't work but my house icon moves if i scroll with my finger on the trackpad. Can anyone help?
