The old "iTunes Store movie rent" trick doesn't work anymore afaik. Unfortunately not a lot of apps have an option to "clean cache" in their settings. | Posted: 20 Jan 2019 05:39 AM PST On her walk with the dog today, my wife found a pair of AirPods in their case. We found that one can do a Find My Phone on one's APs if they are out of the case. We are leaving them out of the case to listen to whether they beep or not, indicating that someone is looking for them. Wonder if we did a Support Chat with Apple and gave them the serial number of the APs, whether Apple would tell us who they belong to or, if they can determine the owners, if we could give Apple our telephone number to give to the person who lost them. Posted: 20 Jan 2019 05:51 AM PST Hey guys, I'm switching from Sony F3311 with Android 6.0 to an iPhone 7 with iOS 12.1.12. I've stored a lot of useful links in my WhatsApp chats, so I'd really like to have all the conversations on my iPhone too. I've googled and tried out a lot of guides, but all of them are either fake, outdated or require some software you gotta pay for. What I've found out:- on Android the backup is stored on Google Drive. Also, there is a file in your WhatsApp directory, that you can simply access by plugging the phone into the computer. - on iOS the backup is stored in iCloud. When installing WhatsApp, it checks if there are some backups that can be restored. However, it only looks at iCloud and not at Google Drive. So is there an actual solution to this problem? I wish I could just copy the backup files into the iCloud or onto the iPhone but it seems like Apple really likes to make stuff unnecessary complicated. So I guess you really need a software to work around this whole problem. Is there some free tool that can copy all the messages? So that would mean that if I search for something on google and go on a website, I should not see that product as an ad when I go on facebook, right? This morning I searched for a particular type of tea and opened the website of an online store that sold it (I hadn't visited that site before). Sure enough, an hour later I went on Facebook (website, not the app) and I got an ad for that particular tea, on that particular site. It all happened on my phone, running iOS 12 and having Prevent cross site tracking and ask websites not to track me turned on. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Posted: 20 Jan 2019 12:25 AM PST Hi, I currently use android and am considering switching to IOS, as I have found it does most everything I need it to while being free of bloatware and more secure, faster OS updates, etc. Anyhow, I drive a lot. A LOT. 50-100k miles per year. My biggest fear is that hands free siri will suck, and that I'll have issues with bluetooth headsets. Does IOS allow multiple bluetooth audio connections at the same time? On my samsung, I can choose to use a bluetooth device for "calls only" or "media only" or both. This allows me to use a bluetooth headset for making and receiving calls, while also being connected to a stereo. No, it does not play audio through both, it pauses streaming audio (to the car stereo) when you take a call on the headset, and resumes after you finish your call. Does anyone know if IOS works like this too? It's basically the thing I need it to do the most. As I mentioned, I'm driving, so no, I can't just press the speaker button on the phone and switch to the device. I wish it wasn't the case, but after reading around it seems like siri sucks, and bluetooth doesn't let you do this scenario I have mentioned. The phones are awesome though so I'm a little sad I may have to go with a new android device. | Posted: 19 Jan 2019 11:10 AM PST I recently upgraded my iPhone 6s for an iPhone 8. Since I got the 8, I have noticed that a few times a week, future reminders will pop up. They show the accurate date and time on them, but they appear on my screen at an earlier day and time. For example right now I have a reminder that supposed to go off on 2/1 and 4pm, sitting on my lock screen as if it is a due reminder. On the reminder it actually says the correct date and time. I notice that they typically pop up when I have a real due reminder also popping up. I just ignore them until the correct date and time, but its pretty weird and annoying. I know I am asking a 'lot' but it just seems crazy there's no app to replace Quotebook. It used to be the top quotes app, but no one has replaced it. | Need help factory restoring an iphone 6 and don't know apple id (Android user) Posted: 19 Jan 2019 03:50 PM PST So first off I'll say that I'm a die hard android user and really REALLY dislike apple anything (No hard feelings to the people who like apple though) and I'm having a hard time factory resetting my Dads iphone 6. He forgot his apple id, password AND email! it was a company phone that was given to him before they were eventually were bought out by a larger company. I'm trying to reset it for him because he wants to have a backup just in case something happens to his iphone 8. He isn't real techy but I am (absolutely not on apple though) and I told him I'd give it a try. Tried imyfone, restore mode and anything I can think of. No dice because he left find my phone on and that doesn't get rid of the apple id when you factory restore it. Any help would be greatly appreciated from this android fanboy [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 19 Jan 2019 03:23 PM PST I had to completely reinstall my iPhone 7 & I set it up as new because I didn't have a backup. I don't mind reinstalling because then I can finally clean up the amount of apps. But apparently my Wallet app is acting up now. I went to a movie today & I added the movieticket to my Wallet. It used to show up an hour before the movie starts but now it doesn't anymore. So I did another full wipe & tried adding the ticket again but it still doesn't show up on my lockscreen & all my settings are correct. The vendor supports this because it worked the week before. So I created some passes of my own on passslot.com to test what is working & what is not:
So what's not working anymore is an Event Ticket based on the time of the event. This still worked last week before I reinstalled my phone & now it doesn't work anymore even after 3 full wipes. I tried a wipe without logging in to iCloud afterwards so it wouldn't sync my Wallet & I tried a wipe with logging in to iCloud afterwards but none of these work. I know this sounds trivial but I liked having these on my lockscreen because it's also a quick reminder to not forget an event is coming up. This was never an issue in iOS 11.
