Screen Time has a MAJOR Issue

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 05:37 PM PST

To start this, I am the one being controlled by screen time. I am the child and I helped my parents set it up. In-app browsers are the biggest issue. Any app by google has an in-app browser that is unrestricted and unfilterable. If you want to browse the web, you can simply open Gmail, click any link (that you dont have the specific app for) and if you press open in safari you have full access to the web. It's not just google, apps like DJI 4 and the GoPro app do it too.

Why doesn’t Apple make the iPhone with 128 GB storage anymore?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 05:59 AM PST

In the new iPhones, there is no 128 GB variant (excluding XR). iPhone XS and XS Max, iPhone X and iPhone 8 don't have 128 GB storage variant. The storage options start at 64 GB which is obviously not enough for a lot of people, and the next available storage option is 256 GB, which is very expensive, and a lot of people can not afford it. People end up buying 64 GB variant of the iPhones and run out of storage very soon. The "storage almost full" pop-up warning has been a meme in the past. Even Google has used that meme in marketing its Pixel 2 phone with unlimited cloud storage for photos.

128 GB variant would be so perfect for a lot of people. I don't know why Apple stopped making them. When the iPhone XR has a 128 GB variant, why can't the other models have the same perfect 128 GB option? It is same as the new iPad pros. They don't have the 128 GB variant either. Maybe Apple wants to promote their iCloud service by selling the less storage iPhone variant and make people buy its cloud storage! It's a burden to buy the iCloud storage after buying an already expensive phone. In the case of 256 GB version they make money from the price of the phone, so it is a win-win situation for them. At the end of the day, users can benefit from the 128 GB variant.

So, Apple, can we please have the 128 GB variant back again? Hope you make a 128 GB iPhone this year (fingers crossed).

Safari: press ⌘ + [ to go back without reloading the page

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 10:18 PM PST

This should be the default two-finger swipe IMO. It's so annoying having the 3-5 second delay after reloading a heavy webpage or YT video.

If there's an easy solution to get rid of the delay (if Apple keeps refusing to change this) it would be good to know

Should Apple offer a subscription service to access all movies and shows on their iTunes like Apple Music does with music?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 06:54 PM PST

I am sure I'm not the only one that has thought about it, but I think if Apple offered some sort of subscription service to access the all the movie and shows content that's on iTunes will be huge.

I am sure there a bunch of things with Movie studios etc that prevents them from offering full access but if they did it with music (Apple music, Spotify etc) I hope it just a matter of time before it happens with movies and TV shows.

There are too many different subscriptions apps out there and I think since Apple is getting into the content game they should work out a deal to offer full access with a subscription service .

I'll happy pay $30 a monthly for it.

What are you thoughts on something like this, let's discuss

Is it me or do you actually get more performance/$ in a MBP over an iMac?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 05:26 PM PST

It used to be the case that iMacs were the best deal Apple had, but the new MBP's are pretty beefy, and the current gen iMacs still have the 7th gen i7's. I've been messing around configuring iMacs and MBP's and it seems like the MBP might actually be a better computer for the same price.

    27-inch 5K iMac: $3,699

    4.5GHz i7-7700K (4-core, 8-threads)

    32GB RAM

    1TB SSD

    Radeon Pro 580 8GB

    15" MBP: $3,599

    4.3GHz i7-8850H (6-core, 12 threads)

    32GB RAM

    1TB SSD

    Radeon Pro 560X 4GB

Sure, the GPU in the iMac is better, but for $100 cheaper, the MBP has a way better processor. Besides the GPU, is there any reason to buy an iMac over a MBP if you're going for performance? It seems like it'd be better to plug in some monitors to your MBP and use that as your workstation and it would out-perform any iMac (excluding the very pricey iMac Pro of course).

Or is there something I'm missing here? I'm speaking purely from a performance perspective. Why would you buy an iMac over an MBP except for the 27" 5K monitor? Or maybe that's just the whole draw right there.

Do you think the iPad Pro should run on MacOS?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 01:54 PM PST

The hardware is great, but iOS at times can feel limited.

    Put your thoughts down below.

With the rumors about an iOS redesign, what things would you want Apple to redesign the most?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 03:54 PM PST

I really would want Apple to redesign the settings app. Make the app more logical and get rid ofthis ugly text (underlined)

The second photo is from the Wallet app in iOS 12.2 beta 1, I really would want that to be the new design of settings.

    What about you guys?

External battery pack for Macbook Pro and iDevices

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 01:55 AM PST

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if there would be any update on new battery packs that could give the Macbook Pro some more battery juice when travelling.

I saw that Apple listed Mophie 3XXL on their website but not sure what to think about the fact that it only charges at 45watt.

    Thanks in advance!

Why Don’t Cash Machines Let Us Withdraw Cash Using Apple Pay?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 02:23 AM PST

Touch ID and Face ID are more secure than cards so I don't see why we shouldn't be able to withdraw money using Apple Pay. Here in the UK, you need to type in a 4-digit pin when you insert your card into the machine. That's a 1 in 10,000 chance of some random person with your card guessing the pin correctly on the first try. With Touch ID, that's 1 in 50,000. With Face ID, that's 1 in 1,000,000. Even if people don't use Face ID or Touch ID and use the 6-digit passcode on their phone for Apple Pay, that's still a 1 in 1,000,000 chance for a stranger to guess your passcode on their first attempt. Worst case: somebody uses a 4-digit code on their phone and it's still as secure as a card.

The only reason I can think of as to why is the fact that banks might not want to pay a small percentage to Apple for the withdrawal using Apple Pay.

What are you guys' thoughts on this?

    EDIT: correction of grammatical error.

    Suggestion for notification customization

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 02:06 PM PST

Apples devices are so well integrated with continuity and the streamlined design.... except for notifications. When I receive a notification on my iPhone and see it, I don't want my iPad ringing for the same notification 2 minutes later. Please apple do something about this, it's getting annoying

New 4K Aurora Aerial Screensavers for AppleTV

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 11:06 AM PST

Protip: If your iPhone/iPad isn't charging properly, there's probably some sort of dirt in your lightning jack. Just poke a safety pin around inside it and you should find the culprit.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 07:58 AM PST

I had this problem for around two weeks on my iPhone 6 and with all the other hitches on the device (battery drains, 5-7 second delay in opening apps) this charging issue was taking me to the brink. A friend pointed out there might be dirt inside the charging port and lo behold! Uncovered a massive speck of dirt which was a little less than what you'd find in your belly button. Oh well, I guess my phone lives to survive another year then.

    Amazon Renewed MacBook Pros?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 08:53 AM PST

Hello, all! I currently have a 2018 MacBook Pro, but lately I find myself reminiscing over the previous generation as so many do - many of the reasons of what drew me into MacBook ownership such as MagSafe, amazing keyboard, attention to detail and overall quality just seem gone. I also seem to restart my new MacBook Pro as if it were a Windows computer just to fix things like a malfunctioning Touch Bar.

It appears there are no shortage of third part refurbished MacBook Pros, which I'm not exactly keen on, but I came across "Amazon Renewed" which seems to attempt to buyer confidence in using OEM parts, with the exception of accessories, but there isn't much detail otherwise.

My question is does anyone have any first hand experience with Amazon Renewed MacBooks?

    The weirdest thing just happened.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 08:43 PM PST

My GF has been sleeping for an hour, her iPhone XR locked on her side table. Im laying in bed next too her and I open Netflix on my iPhone X. The exact second Netflix opens on my phone, HER iPhone starts playing a Netflix random preview ! Just the audio on the locked screen. She wakes up, swipe to open and she lands directly on the Netflix preview. She did not opened her Netflix app in the past week. What the hell is that ?!
