PSA: Apple's 1-800 number being CallerID spoofed, scammers calling to get access. Posted: 16 Jan 2019 09:46 AM PST Got a call on my phone just now with the 1-800-MYAPPLE showing up as the Caller ID. Proof. When I answered, I got a synthesized voice saying something along the lines of "Your iCloud Account has been breached. Please do not perform any activity on your iCloud account. Press 1 to speak to an Apple Support Specialist." I pretty much knew what this was, but I was gonna dial 1 anyway for grins. Unfortunately the call terminated before I could do it. I have two-factor authentication enabled, and checked to make sure no unknown devices were tied to my account. All looks good so far. In any case, looks like someone out there is trying to find some gullible marks, so:
Edit: Looks like other customer care numbers are being spoofed as well. [link] [comments] |

Apple Music: is there a way to be notified when one of your favorite artists releases a new album? Posted: 16 Jan 2019 08:53 AM PST I was hoping there was some type of feature I may be unaware of that when a artist(s) you like drops a new album you can receive a notification. I know you can "follow" artists on Apple Music, but it doesn't seem to do much [link] [comments] |
Amazon has a huge problem with junk sellers with misleading reviews for adapters Posted: 16 Jan 2019 07:06 PM PST I didn't see this anywhere else, but just a warning I've bought probably $100 worth of broken ass chinese garbage adapters for my iPhone X that simply don't work. If you go to the reviews they always have 4/5 stars, except the reviews are usually for a completely different product . If you check the link there's probably 5-10 bunk vendors offering this garbage. My guess is these are all busted adapters that failed QA, and some chinese companies buy them up wholesale to rip off buyers thru Amazon. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 16 Jan 2019 09:48 PM PST I think there should be a feature where you just double tap on the iPhone display to skip to the next song even if the display is locked. It would be really beneficial in the car when listening to music and you want to skip a song, all you would have to do is double tap the screen without unlocking your phone or clicking anything. What’s your favorite model iPhone of all time? Posted: 16 Jan 2019 11:48 AM PST I'm gonna have to say the iPhone 6s. I loved everything about it and never had any issues. It was a simple design and was small enough to use one hand with [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Jan 2019 11:27 AM PST In November I started an official request at the German Ministry of Health about the ECG function of the Apple Watch 4. I was asking them about the approval process and whether anything is known about if the function has already been submitted for approval or not. It took the Ministry quite a while to respond (until last Wednesday) because they had to do „research" on the subject. Anyway, they confirmed that the easiest way to get this function available in all EU countries at once, is to submit it to the responsible EU health authorities. The spokesperson then confirmed that, so far, no official request for approval has been received by the German Ministry of Health and to their knowledge it's the same for the EU authorities. For me this is a huge bummer if all correct and true. Just wanted to let /r/Apple know. @Apple, when are you going to do this?! What the F... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Jan 2019 05:53 AM PST I recently came across a collection of 1980s and 1990s Apple manuals (more on that in the coming months as I digitize them). At the end of each is a statement similar to this (from the 1988 HyperCard user guide). [link] [comments] |
