Apple needs to integrate iCloud with macOS better Posted: 24 Dec 2018 05:11 PM PST iCloud on macOS is more or less like a Dropbox for your files. They allow you to backup the desktop and documents to iCloud but not the rest of your files. While I know time machine is not yet compatible with iCloud backups, at the least they could expand iCloud to backup the rest of the user folders like music, videos, etc. It's frustrating we can't automatically access macOS files from iPad or iPhone without manually copying the file into the iCloud folder. Why would they only allow documents and desktop files to backup? Technically we could put all our file folders inside of the documents folder and it would be a workaround but that just seems stupid. SystemUI server not responding and need to restart Mac Posted: 24 Dec 2018 09:24 PM PST While using my macbook Pro (Retina, 15 inch, mid 2015, Mojave 10.4.2) suddenly « SystemUI server » stop acting and all I need to do to fix it is restart Mac (Tried to force quit from Activity Monitor but it is not restarting at all.) When the SystemUI server not responding I cannot do anything like open new window/software and connect to network (Wifi). It is alway happens few hours later from restart. What is the problem should be? And how can I fix this? Thanks, [link] [comments]

Can anyone make sense of this screenshot? Posted: 24 Dec 2018 03:20 PM PST The screenshot shows the problem but I'll summarise it here, too: The data that "About This Mac-Storage" shows doesn't match the data on the finder. Something's eating up my HD and I don't know what it is. I delete stuff only to see the emptied space being filled by something which does not show up on the finder but is listed as OTHER on the About This Mac tab. There should be around 20 GB of free space but it only shows 1,4 GB. Sometimes the storage changes from one minute to another as well. So my question is: Is the HD dying? Is there an explanation for this? [link] [comments]
Anyone had any success with AnyDesk screen sharing? Posted: 24 Dec 2018 06:41 PM PST A pal and I, both with MB Pros, him running Yosemite/me running Mojave, downloaded and installed the free-for-home-use screen sharing application AnyDesk https://anydesk.com/download?os=mac Like TeamViewer, seems it ought to be simple to use; both parties install it, both launch it, both are given addresses in this format: 123,456,789. Party A sends the address he sees to Party B. Party B inputs that address into his AnyDesk window and hits enter. Neither of us could connect; both of us got the failure: The address you have entered is invalid. Is this some other useless piece of crap or has anyone got it to work? [link] [comments]
How to time machine with a MacBook ? Posted: 24 Dec 2018 02:29 AM PST I want to have my computer backed up automatically, from what I understand time machine is the best way to do this. However I believe that it only works when an external hard drive is attached. I don't want to have to regularly plug an external drive in. I was hoping I could attach one to my router but that doesn't seem to work for time machine. Do I need an airport or something? Does apple even still sell these? Are there any other decently priced options? [link] [comments] |
