I’ve got the picture of my GF on the day we first met as her contact photo in my phone. It’s been 7 years and I don’t have the original. Is there a way to get this photo so I can use it?

Just got a new iPhone 8

    Posted: 27 Dec 2018 09:58 AM PST

    Hello everyone,

I just got a new iPhone, it being my first Apple product.

I am now curious as to whether there are any tips for a new user, especially when it comes to preserving Battery life and such?

Additionally, should I update to iOS 12 tonight?

Are fast wireless chargers safe to use on IPhone XR?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2018 07:52 AM PST

So I got the IPhone XR for Christmas and the battery life is amazing. But it does take a long time to charge the phone. My mum got me a pack with a screen protector, case and a fast wireless charger. I was just wondering if this will be safe for me to use or if it will damage the battery life because I've heard that fast chargers can damage it.

Switching from Android, have a few questions (don't upvote)

    Posted: 27 Dec 2018 01:23 AM PST

    1. Coming from a galaxy s8, could I use my phone's current fast charger with a lightning cable to fast charge my xs?

    2. How do you manage with wanting to charge and listen to wired music at the same time?

    3. What are some must have accessories?

I know these are noob questions. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to answer

Did Apple remove “save webpage as PDF” from safari on iOS 12.

    Posted: 27 Dec 2018 08:17 AM PST

I'm on iOS 12.1.1 in the past I was able to press the share button and save the webpage as pdf, or print and save as pdf from there. I think it's been a while since I did that, today I was trying to save a wiki article as pdf but when I press share there is no option to save as pdf, and no option to print either. When did this change take place and how can I work around this?

Edit: last think the title should've been a question mark and not a period.

    iPhone X background image repositioning?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2018 05:44 AM PST

When I set an Image of a Saturn V rocket as my wallpaper, I set it up in a way, that the emergency rocket at the top just barely didn't touch the notch. I noticed after 1-2 days, that the Image must've been repositioned slightly by iOS. Set as static wallpaper. My guess is that it is to prevent burn in on the OLED, what are your thoughts?

Siri has become utterly useless? It won’t even let me finish talking.

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 09:43 PM PST

I'm not sure if this is the correct spot to post this but since maybe two or three updates ago, Siri and speech to text will not understand a thing I say. I've recalibrated it, checked all the settings, everything. It constantly cuts me off, and I can't even use it to call someone. Is anyone else experiencing this? iPhone X user btw if that's relevant

Repairing iPhone 6s plus or getting new (cheap) phone

    Posted: 27 Dec 2018 08:44 AM PST

I'm currently traveling around the world with my 3+ years old iphone 6s plus and it has been getting increasingly problematic to use it. It is much slower then when I got it and tends to hang randomly for long periods of time (especially soon after rebooting). The Wi-Fi also tends to randomly disconnect and reconnect which is pretty annoying (and does not happen on my other devices). But the worst part is that the battery drains very fast and is totally unpredictable; it can drop 1% in two hours or drop 25% in 10 minutes. This is especially a problem in cold weather (i.e. less than 10 celsius which normally shouldn't be a problem) where it can go from a full charge to 0 in less than an hour without touching it. Note: iOS says the state of my battery is at 82% but this seems high to me.

I did some geekbench benchmarks and the result was only a little over half what the average score for iphone 6s plus is (for both single and multi core).

I know that some people have had really good results replacing the battery of their iPhone. I was thinking of doing that, but the screen being also cracked, I would have to also get it repaired. Also, since there are no apple stores in Argentina (where I am right now) or even in the countries nearby, I'm pretty sure the cost of repairs would be higher than usual (which is already pretty high). Also it is likely that I would have to get it repaired in a non apple official store, which does carry some risks.

I recently bought a new phone (Moto G6) thinking that it could replace for the most part my iPhone. For the most part, it does the job fine and the battery lasts at least 2 or 3 times as much as my iPhone, which is especially useful while traveling since I sometimes can be a long time without being able to charge my phone (and/or battery pack). However, the camera is not even close to as good as the one on my iPhone and I have to say I prefer the iOS UI overall. At the moment I just carry my iPhone around as well and only take pictures with it. It is, however, slightly annoying. I can still return this phone for a few days, hence the question.

The phone cost me around 260 USD, and I'm pretty sure the overall repairs of my iPhone would be a similar amount.

Therefore I was wondering if it would be worth it to fix my iPhone rather than buy (i.e. keep) a new one? The big unknown being in what state would be my iPhone after the repair (i.e. how much improvement in speed and battery life can I expect) as well as how long could I expect to keep it afterwards.

Thanks in advance for your answers :)

Problem after replacing my iPhone X battery $29

    Posted: 27 Dec 2018 04:54 AM PST

Well, 3 days ago I went to Apple store in Singapore to replace my battery before the discount ended. Happily they replaced by battery for free as my iPhone X is still under warranty. However the problem occurs, now the iPhone X charges at 86% and stucks at that, no increase of percentage. Only by restoring the iPhone can I see the charging progress, but it also stuck at that point. This means I have to restart the phone several times to see how many % it charges. I contact Apple support, they run diagnostics and find no problem with the hardware. Now I am back to my country so no chance to bring it back to Apple store.

Any of you encounter the same issue? I am at 12.1.2 and have tried to downgrade to 12.1.1 but that doesnt work. I use either 5W or 18W (new). Please give me some advices on this.
