Underwhelmed by the folio keyboard cover. Is anyone else using something else which they prefer?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 04:40 AM PST

Looking for suggestions. Haven't bought one myself, but used my brother's for a good while yesterday. I find the lack of key travel a real deal breaker.

YouTube is still reviewing the core hardware rather than third party accessories, so I thought I'd check here.

    Can anyone recommend an alternative?

    Thanks.

    Looking for a sleeve

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 01:48 PM PST

I just recently got the iPad Pro 11 inch with the Apple Pencil and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good sleeves that held the pencil and iPad together. I was thinking of getting the folio case since it offers some protection but I'm worried that when I put it in my bag the pencil will detach and fall to the bottom of my bag. The Apple sleeve they make for the 10.5 is great but I think it'd be too tight for the 11.

Where and how are the magnets located for the smart folios to be “smart”?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 06:25 AM PST

I make leather goods and am wanting to make a custom case for my own iPad Pro! (3rd gen)

I've got the design down, with folds for specific angles I work with on my iPad etc,

While I'm at it, I thought I might as well make it function as a smart folio where my iPad shuts off when I close the lid.

Would it be as easy as sticking a couple slim neodymium magnets within the case near the right side of the iPad?

    Editing Raw-files on iPad.

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 03:15 AM PST

    Hi guys,

I just got an iPad Pro 2018 and I'm trying to edit RAW-files on it. One feature that I can't seem to find on any photo-editing app is 'local' color editing (e.g. making brown rocks look red without making faces in the picture red as well).

The only app that I know of that does this is Lightroom but I'm not very keen on paying for subscriptions. Is there any (paid) app that does this as well without requiring a subscription?

    Thanks!

    Checking battery health?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 07:00 AM PST

What's the best way to check the battery health on a iPad. Note I do not have a Mac laptop, so unless there is a coconut battery program for windows that won't work. And I have checked in the App Store, but the reviews of the battery apps show that most of them are scams and give false readings.

    Best drawing apps?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 10:34 AM PST

So a bunch of my relatives sent me some money for christmas and i decided to use it to buy a 6th generation iPad and an apple pencil to replace the clunky, slow android tablet i used to draw on after I broke the stylus a few months back. I'm really excited to get back into digital art. On my last tablet I used ArtFlow, but I'm looking for something else this time around. I heard Procreate was good but I'm in search of opinions.

How do you organise your iPad home screens?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 05:24 AM PST

How do people organise their iPad home screens? Do you put similar apps together on the same page? Do you use folders? Do you just let things go where they want and use search?

For me, I like to *think* I'm organised, so at the moment I'm using a combination of dedicated pages for "types" of app (boardgames, media, PC game ports, ...) and folders (sheet music, "productivity", ...). Plus a lot of stuff that ends up just going where it wants.

In practice, this works sort of well, but there are some problems - folders tend to "hide" things (so I don't like to put things I use a lot in folders) but having dedicated pages means a *lot* of moving things around when I need to reorganise. Also, folders and (even more so) pages have limited space, so it all goes horribly wrong when I get the 21st app of a type I dedicated a page to...

Also, because new apps just appear in the first free space, they tend to mess up any arrangement if you don't organise them quickly.

Similarly, how do people use the dock? I mostly don't customise it at all, but maybe I should. Do people have loads of apps on the dock, or just a select few? Do you leave the default ones there, or replace them with your own?

How do other people organise their iPads?

On iPad - do you prefer ios11 or ios12? Why?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 11:19 AM PST

I have an iPad Pro 9.7 (2016) and am really comfortable on iOS 11 so have been holding off upgrading. (Also, there was an app I like called alien blue, which is no longer supported on iOS12, but I think I've now found a replacement).

Is iOS 12 better for landscape use on iPad?

What are the pros and cons to updating?

I wish I had never updated from 10 due to the control panel being better on 10.

I've heard a few people say that the ios12 update had the new button-less iPad in mind, so feels wrong on older models.

Logitech AnyAngle Case for iPad 6th Gen?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 11:12 AM PST

I've had an iPad Air 2 with a Logitech AnyAngle case on it for years. Great case. Just picked up a 2018 iPad 9.7 but can't seem to find a case that is anything like the AnyAngle. Anyone know of a similar case, preferably one that doesn't cost 1/4 of what I pad for the iPad itself?

With the new iPad Pro being USB-C is MFI certification still a thing?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2018 07:30 PM PST

Can I use ANY USB-C cable with the new iPad Pro, or will it nag me that a cable is not MFI certified?

Does the USB-C have analog audio passhrough, or does the USB-C to 3.5mm dongle still have a DAC and amp in the dongle?

Used iPad, don’t know previous owner

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 10:25 AM PST

Hello everyone. I acquired a used iPad mini for Christmas. It appears the previous owner did a factory reset but did not remove the device from their Apple ID. When I attempt to set it up it shows me r****@icloud.com. I have no way of knowing who this is. Is there anyway to reset this so I can set it up on my id?

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the Gumdrop case for the iPad 9.7 2018 as I was wanting to get an Otterbox Defender for it but the refurbished ones won't be in stock for a few days and I really need a good protective case for my Pad

Support for the Smart Folio case

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 01:12 AM PST

I've just got the new Smart Folio case with the 11" iPad, but the games like Stardew Valley don't seem to support the keyboard, do you think in the future we will get support for the keyboard to be used in-game? Or it's not possible?

    Can’t update iPad to 12.1.2

    Posted: 26 Dec 2018 04:42 AM PST

I see iOS 12.1.2 is out for iPhone. But I can't find it for iPad. I keep checking in settings but nothing.

I've only got the WiFi 11" iPad Pro... is that why I'm not seeing this update?
