My family’s phones have me listed as a nickname that only my friends call me by. Posted: 24 Dec 2018 08:14 AM PST Why is this? The other day my mother and sister told me that they have my contact saved as my real name, but in iMessage I am listed as a nickname that my friends used to call me. Anybody know how I can fix this? Posted: 24 Dec 2018 12:33 AM PST How do I delete iBooks in iOS12? Edit-Select gives me grey thrash can. Is there a way now to delete iBooks? [link] [comments]
How do you remove or change the carrier name on status bar? Posted: 24 Dec 2018 02:53 AM PST When I updated to iOS 12, my carrier name wasn't displayed on my status bar. But today I noticed it's back and it's annoying. Is there any way I can remove/hide or at least change it without jailbreaking? [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Dec 2018 05:25 AM PST Having upgraded to iOS 12, I've added a Siri Shortcut so I can say "Hey Siri, OK Google" to start Google Assistant. When I say this, however, my iPhone tells me "You'll need to continue in Assistant", and I have to push a button on the screen to open Google Assistant manually, which defeats the purpose of hands-free invoking. How do I avoid this, so I can say "Hey Siri, OK Google, _____________" without having to do anything else? [link] [comments]

Notification for various apps stopped working since upgrading to 12.1.2, which was working in 12.1.1 Posted: 23 Dec 2018 10:25 PM PST Prior to upgrading, I have no issue with ANY iOS notification for ANY app (built-in or 3rd party apps). After upgrading to 12.1.2, I noticed some apps no longer show notification. This applies to: 1). Existing apps (already installed before iOS ugprade) 2). New apps (purchased straight from the App Store after the iOS upgrade). It doesn't matter the type of apps (calendar, task manager, games, deliveries, Amazon, etc.), the issue seems to be random. As usual: 1). I have restarted the iPhone 2). I have ensured DnD is not enabled 3). I have ensured notification is allowed for the affected apps 4). I have done "reset network settings". My iPad Pro 11", which is STILL on 12.1.1, have no issues. Example: 1). iPhone XS Max: notification for Amazon app, which was pre-installed prior to iOS upgrade, just stopped working with 12.1.2 2). iPad Pro 11: notification for Amazon App still working with 12.1.1 Short of nuking the iPhone, does anyone experiences the same thing? Creative Uses of the Shortcuts app? Posted: 23 Dec 2018 05:51 PM PST Anyone have any cool ways to automate things using shortcuts? I used to do a lot with Activator back in my jailbreak days, but Shortcuts seems both more limited and way more free. Is there a way to link force touching in a sector of the screen to an action? That was always my favorite in Activator, or using gesture based shortcuts. I see that it is able to link into Python scripts using a specific IDE, has anyone played around with this? What kind of access does iOS allow you in regards to python scripting? I'd imagine it is pretty locked down in regards to what you can or cannot access using external scripts. Cheers! Airdropped photos lose created date Posted: 23 Dec 2018 04:20 PM PST Is it that hard to maintain created date on airdropped photos? For a photos app that groups by date, pretty inexcusable for airdropped photos to just get plopped at the end. [link] [comments]
is there a way to combine multiple sound streams? Posted: 23 Dec 2018 02:53 PM PST Hi i listen to & Watch CNBC through the ThinkorSwim(Ameritrade) app and want to mix in an audio stream from Apple Music. I've looked around at apps like AudioBus 3, but this is only for synths. Audiobus 3 by Audiobus Pty Ltd https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/audiobus-3/id1129130361?mt=8 On Mac OS this wasn't hard to do. Can not figure it out for iOS. Thanks [link] [comments]
No clear all button for new notifications. Posted: 23 Dec 2018 01:43 PM PST For older notifications, there is a clear all button on the top which you can tap to clear all notifications but when there are no older notifications, the clear all button does not appear. It is so annoying because I have to swipe to dismiss 10 to 15 notifications one at a time. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Dec 2018 01:02 PM PST Does native iOS app uninstaller really remove all the data and footprints from the device, or should a person use some app cleaners like on OS X. I am wondering if leftovers cause any decrease in speed over time. [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Dec 2018 12:13 PM PST Before I start, I do not sync Contacts with my iCloud because I have yet to make an iCloud account separate from my mom's, and I don't want our contacts being mixed together. Back when I switched from a Windows Phone to an iPhone a few years back, I was told that the only way to transfer all of my contacts would be through my Microsoft account. I selected Outlook and signed in, and lo and behold, everything synced up. Years later, I have amassed several new contacts since my initial switch to the iPhone. Unbeknownst to me was the fact that these contacts have not been syncing with the Outlook account. I learned this last year right before leaving for college when I provided my password upon being prompted to re-authenticate my account, which deleted most contacts off of my phone. I had to restore from a iCloud backup made a few hours prior. Today, I just got a new phone and used my old phone's iCloud backup to get all my content. After entering my Outlook password, my contacts were once again deleted (all of them this time, which is really odd). Upon restoring my new phone with the same backup with all my contacts, I tested on my old device what would happen if I deleted the Outlook account; it deleted most/all contacts. I'm thinking I have two options to save the contacts and get rid of the redundant and threatening Outlook account
For now, I am not touching the Outlook account; I will not re-authenticate it so that my contacts will be safe. However, I would like to get rid of the Outlook account if it's not going to do anything beneficial. I would appreciate any tips on how to approach this issue. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Anti-malware & anti-virus apps Posted: 23 Dec 2018 11:46 AM PST Hello there. Are there any anti-virus apps for iPhone that you recommend? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
IPhone battery maximum capacity lying? Posted: 23 Dec 2018 11:22 AM PST I have an iPhone X. My max battery capacity says 88%. My sister's iPhone 6s that has gone through wayyyyyy more power cycles than my phone shows only 83% for her max capacity. We both have very similar charging habits and treat our batteries well. This must be false. Either apple is lying to make us upgrade our newish phones faster and/or apple started using lower quality batteries recently. What do you think? [link] [comments]
