I'm talking first generation iPhone, iPhone 3, iPhone 4, MacBook Air from 2008, 2005 iPods, first generation iPad, etc. What do I do with this stuff to safely dispose of it? Do I need to be worried about any potential personal info on the iPhones? I don't think they will all turn on... Can I recycle the laptop with Apple and trust that they will "wipe" it for me? | Anyone experiencing iPhone XS lag? Posted: 22 Dec 2018 12:03 PM PST I've noticed my new XS lags in weird places. For example, when I swipe a notification on the lock or notification screen, I can't click "clear" immediately after swiping the notification to the left....I have to pause then do it or else nothing happens. I've noticed it in other places, but it does not happen when I run screen recorder oddly enough. Anyone else experiencing this? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 22 Dec 2018 05:09 PM PST I bought AirPods earlier this year, and had to get a new pair because both AirPods got quiet to the point where I was only able to barely hear at full volume. I contacted Apple and they said they didn't know what was wrong and said if I paid for new ones, they'd send me a new pair, and once I sent my broken pair back they would give me my money back (which they never did and I've contacted them about it lmao) Anyways, I got the new pair and now the right AirPod is going out, and I don't know what to do to fix it. There's no Wax, hasn't been in water, just sits in my jacket pocket. [link] [comments]  |

Like if u delete ur Gmail, it won't affect ur other Google services. | Voice memos won’t play- please, please help! Posted: 22 Dec 2018 09:39 PM PST iPhone 8 Plus running iOS 12.1.2 I have a very important voice memo that will not play. I can see the recording and the file size. I push the play button and it doesn't do anything. I was able to backup my phone to my computer. I accessed the file on my computer but it would not open in iTunes. I tried iExplorer and could access the file but I could not recover or play the file. I have had no issues with voice memos in the past. I updated to 12.1.2 today and this is a disaster. Any advice would be so much appreciated, this voice memo is so important. Thank you! | Posted: 22 Dec 2018 09:16 PM PST I am trying to use an old iPhone 5C lying around but I forgot the pin code. So I follow the steps in here which required me to go into recovery mode. So i turn off the phone, hold home and sleep button at the same time. Apple logo flashes. Then disappears. Apple logo flashes and stays longer. Now I expect the itunes logo to show but it doesn't. Home button still works. From where I am from, we do not have an apple store (only a 3rd party authorised reseller that charges exorbitant prices). I think it has ios 8. Help. What do I do now? | Music is not uploading or playing on iTunes/iPhone Posted: 22 Dec 2018 09:04 PM PST I've been having this problem for a few months now and can't seem to track it down to make it work. I have approx. 2800 songs on my HDD. When I transfer them to iTunes, only about 1300 are uploaded successfully. Out of those 1300, only about 700 would play willingly. When I say willingly, if I shuffle, it'll play the track. I've tried wiping songs from iTunes, wiping my phone and trying on a second phone to same result. I've done these steps about once/month and then the virus always pops back up. It's not a true browser window because it looks like chrome and happens when I'm using chrome but if I right click I don't get the standard chrome menu. It's an ad for similar photo cleaner. I understand I downloaded something wrong, but my concern is how to fully remove it. It had been hijacking extensions but I stopped that a few months ago. It still pops up! Does anyone have any suggestions about where it could be hiding? Thank you so much :) My Mac is a 2017 MacBook Air running High Sierra 10.13.3. My understanding is that Xfinity Mobile uses a CDMA network, and I've read conflicting information about whether the iPhone XS can be used with both. My understanding is that if purchased SIM-free, it is compatible with both, but this page lists Model A1920 (GSM) and Model A1920 (CDMA) as different devices. Can anyone confirm whether an XS which has previously been locked to a CDMA carrier can be used with GSM carriers when it is unlocked? I want to back up my iPhone, reset my phone to Factory Default and restore from either a back up to my computer or iCloud back up, and hopefully free up space by getting rid of all the "Other" store on my phone. I've never done this before so I have a few quick questions. All the music, photos, and apps will automatically be redownloaded to my phone, right? Or will I have to go redownload everything myself (like will I have to go to the App Store to redownload all of my apps myself)? Is there any difference between using a back up stored on my computer versus one stored on iCloud? Will I have to relogin to all my apps and iCloud and stuff after the restore? Dad doesn't want to upgrade to the 1TB plan because Mom is just going to fill that up again. Truth is, my mom almost never goes back to view all those photos and videos. So dad wants me to download all the iCloud media to a local drive, and then delete the photos in iCloud so my mom can start fresh (and mom agrees). Rinse and repeat whenever this happens. What are my options? Environment: - they don't own a Mac, though I'm thinking about handing down a Macbook Air that I own. - they live in Taiwan, which makes it more difficult for me to do tech support (ie logging into their accounts and doing things for them). This mainly just means that solutions that can be completed in a few days to a week are preferred. - I'm not opposed to paying a one time fee or buying some device that would solve this for me. Recurring fees are a non-starter. - also open to telling them to migrate to another cloud provider like Google. I don't use those services though, and not sure how great coverage is in Taiwan, so I don't know how easy/difficult it will be to transfer photos and ultimately use day-to-day. Feedback from experienced people is welcome! Thanks for any help that can be given! | What to do when selling a used iMac Posted: 22 Dec 2018 12:32 PM PST My wife's work was going to throw out several older iMac's but I volunteered to help try to sell them. The issue I'm running into is only one has a recovery drive. The rest don't have a recovery disc or any way that I'm aware of to erase data and restore the OS. Is my only option to just erase the HD and have the buyer install their chosen OS from scratch? From what I've checked so far, two are on 10.6 and one is 10.5. There are also two old Power Mac G5's I haven't even booted up yet. I've read that I can buy a disc for each from Apple for $20. That's probably a third of what most of these are worth though. I noticed that when i type in webpages that i got to a lot, they are not autopopulating, but yet my banking websites and stuff weren't asking me to certify my device. So i checked and there's no browsing history starting this wednesday, but all the cookies are still there. I did not go in and delete my browsing history for a long time. Any idea what might have caused this? please not that i also have an Iphone on which i also use safari. I did delete my browsing history this week, but usually that doesnt also delete the history on my laptop. And it does erase the cookies on the phone, when i do that. PS, is it possible someone in my household did this? Seems weird they'd delete my entire history prior to Wednesday instead of just deleting the line-items for whatever websites they looked at (if they were snooping). [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 22 Dec 2018 11:52 AM PST So I started trying to clean up my 2010 Air running Sierra, and I'm finding some oddities in user/library. The first is a folder called "7PXie", and inside is a unix executable called "PTtDp" and a text file "Qlr2T". Just seems odd, and a google search didn't show anything. The rest are the following folders: Application Scripts, Application Support, ApplicationContents, ApplicationaContents, ApplicationNor, ApplicationSupport. All the spaces and case are exactly how it appears in my Library folder. Another weird thing is, for example, I went into "Application Support" only to find another folder called "ApplicationContent". This is only skimming the service of Investigations my Mac, but these things all Seem odd to me. Can anyone help me, or maybe point me in the right direction? Thank you :) [link] [comments]  |

They are USB powered (from my monitor) and plugged into the MacBook (Pro, Retina, Mid-2015). What happens is, seemingly randomly, I will go to play music but not hear it (even though I just listened to music with them; I maybe step away for a few minutes, for example). After noticing I can't hear the song that's playing I try the volume but just get the Mute icon when I try to increase, decrease, or toggle mute. I see that icon pop up for anything I try, until I unplug the aux cable and plug it back in. What gives? [link] [comments]  |

How can I get the clock to display the year in the top [this is for an alternate Mac account, which I've temporarily given admin privileges, it'll be downgraded to User when I fix this problem] on the menu bar? This alternate account is for graphic design usage, so I'm not using admin privileges for day-to-day Photoshop and InDesign. I don't want to use anything like Day-O or any apps for calendar at login [I have no programs running on login]. | Various problems setting up devices for my parents Posted: 22 Dec 2018 11:15 AM PST First off, I'm an android user. I'm somewhat familiar with IOS but every version shuffles around settings so it's difficult. My parents have iPhone 5s devices running IOS11xxxx and I just bought them ipad mini 1's for Christmas, and they run ios9xxx and can't be updated as far as I can tell. Problem 1: can't sync icloud backups from phones to the tablets. The tablets Grey out the option. Is there a way to make that work? Problem 2: contacts and calendars don't seem to be syncing to the ipads. I've gone through all of the settings on all 4 devices and tried to enable the backup of contacts and calendar to the icloud but they won't push to the tablets. Problem 3: one of the iPhone 5s's won't upload the backup to the icloud. I go into settings and choose "backup now" and it sits there at about one quarter finished saying 8 min remaining, and does that for 30 minutes. Very frustrated and all I can say is I'm glad I don't have an apple device for myself. [link] [comments]  |
