Apple Watch shouldn’t remind you to stand up when you clearly in a car. Posted: 23 Dec 2018 03:57 AM PST Pretty easy to check. It's very rare that I run 100mph for 20mins with a 55bpm heart rate. If you like details please consider to improve. [link] [comments] |
Is it just me, or have ads in Apple News grow in prominence recently? Posted: 23 Dec 2018 04:54 PM PST I feel there are a lot more of them (sometimes two in the same view) and many of them are ginormous (taking 1/3 or more of the screen). Edit: I think the worst part is that there is no diversity. I just saw the same ad a dozen times for an app that I already use. [link] [comments] |

Is anyone still using a late 2013 MacBook Pro 15 inch with Retina display? Posted: 23 Dec 2018 09:50 PM PST I am and I was curious as to if anyone else still uses one today. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Dec 2018 09:56 AM PST The hikes are either slowly pricing customers out of the Apple ecosystem or forcing them to purchase older models. They're mainly the result of the strengthening of the US Dollar relative to other currencies. This is by no means a thorough accounting/calculation of the price hike, but it does provide some insight into why the prices have increased in the UK. If we go back to 2015 when the iPhone 6S was released, this was the year before iPhones started going up in price in the UK. The iPhone 6S started at $649 in the US and £539 in the UK. A couple of years later, the iPhone X started at $999 in the US and £999 in the UK. Sales tax in the UK is the same throughout all cities (20%) so the retail price of all products INCORPORATE the sales tax. With sales tax at 20%, that means Apple would receive £449 from their sale of the £539 iPhone 6S (449x1.2=539). The exchange rate at this time was £1=$1.55 and £449=$695. Although $695 is higher than the $649 starting price in the US, the extra $46 is to protect against exchange rate fluctuations for sales and costs in the UK. The iPhone X started at £999. After accounting for sales tax, Apple receives £832.5 and the exchange rate was approximately £1=$1.25 when Apple decided what to price the iPhone X as Apple chooses their pricing months ahead of the keynote. £832.5=$1,041 and we can see an excess of $42 (similar to the $46 of the iPhone 6S). Dual SIM using multiple eSIMs instead of eSIM + physical SIM? Posted: 23 Dec 2018 11:34 PM PST So I currently deal with Verizon and T-Mobile, both of which have eSIM. Would it be possible to have both lines active at the same time using eSIM and have the physical SIM tray available for international trips (at which point I would deactivate one of the eSIMs)? All of the support pages I found only mention eSIM + Physical SIM, but none of the says eSIM + eSIM is not possible, did any of you try this? [link] [comments] |
At this point i'm wondering if Apple even cares about their European customers. Posted: 23 Dec 2018 06:12 AM PST I've spent the last 6 months in the US and visited a couple Apple stores at the east coast during that time. Over there, i got my iPhone battery replaced in 2 hours, they offered to fix my broken MacBook Pro keyboard then and there and I even considered getting a discounted iPhone 8 for less that $500, using the trade in offer they are running right now. Customer service was incredible! And surprisingly, prices were alright, too. In the past year or so I had grown increasingly tired of Apple's product policy, price hikes and customer service (or lack thereof in my case) but my experience in the US had actually started turning things around for me. Now I'm back in Germany and it becomes painfully apparent that Apple treats us very very differently. Prices might be high in the US but they're just insane over here. Even with the trade-in of my iPhone 6s (which is only possible through an Apple Store and there's a total of 15 in the entire country), I'd still have to pay almost as much for the iPhone XR as an American would have to pay without the trade deal at all. There is no reason for this, no currency exchange, no sales tax can justify a 50% price increase in Europe. The iPhone Xs starts at $1300 over here. To be honest, I'm not surprised that people aren't buying them - they simply can't afford to. On top of that, customer service is really bad. There's no store near me and Apple doesn't offer a proper customer service hotline as an alternative, either. If I called them they would charge $40 just so I can talk to somebody and if they can't help me that's my problem. I just don't understand how a company that offers such phenomenal customer service in one country can treat their customers this badly in another one. The fact that I'm being charged $40 to talk to somebody about an issue with my $3000 laptop and then possibly being told I'm out of luck and they can't help me, that's downright insulting. This awful customer service, combined with 30-50% price premiums makes me question my loyalty. It genuinely makes me wonder if they even value me as a customer. TL;DR: Coming back from the US, I've realized how badly European customers are being treated and it makes me question whether Apple even cares about us anymore. [link] [comments] |
Why do you have to be 22 years old to use the Apple Watch ECG feature? Posted: 23 Dec 2018 10:45 PM PST It applies to the A-Fib alert as well. What's the actual reason for this? I haven't seen anything online explaining why. They just state it isn't intended to be used for those under 22. [link] [comments] |

Considering a docking bay for my 2017. Is there one built for USB-C? Posted: 23 Dec 2018 07:50 PM PST And is there one I can plug a series of cables into? Something to replace the dongle I currently use. [link] [comments] |
Spectrum Zero Sign-on is completely silent? Posted: 23 Dec 2018 11:07 PM PST Was really excited to hear in ahem JUNE about the Apple TV being used as a DVR replacement, but have there been any updates since then? They said towards the end of the year, and that's now. [link] [comments] |
Why isn't apple supporting the VP9 codec for YouTube ? Posted: 23 Dec 2018 11:05 PM PST It's such a huge disadvantage not having full quality while watching videos on my Mac or my iPhone [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Dec 2018 12:44 PM PST As title says. My only hope is that those who found it will restore it and it will prompt them to connect to their WiFi and thus send me a location. Is it the only chance for me? [link] [comments] |
