| Solution to Freezes While Playing Certain Videos in Mojave Posted: 02 Nov 2018 12:20 AM PDT I have had this problem since the last beta of Mojave and was pulling my hair out of anger. The whole UI kept freezing for micro seconds as soon as I started videos on certain sites (including Reddit and Twitter) and on Tweetbot. There seems to be an easy solution.

| Posted: 01 Nov 2018 10:33 PM PDT I haven't done anything unusual with my refurbished 2017 Macbook Pro with High Sierra lately. I ran a minor update earlier that mentioned Safari and security, and have declined updating to Mojave. About 30 minutes ago, I started it up and got a blank/grey screen, a giant error log, and the message mentioned in the title. I don't know enough about computers to make sense of anything in the log, and when I tried to save it, it said I didn't have permission to do that. I repeated much of the process several other times after restarting, then it randomly went to a nicer looking white dialog box with a logo/image and gave me the same message about installation, then started up normally on its own. If nothing else, I'll probably back up a lot more. If I'd had to reboot from backup, I would have lost a TON of downloads from two days ago. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Recent bluetooth issue causing system stutter Posted: 01 Nov 2018 08:57 PM PDT Hey all, Looking for some assistance, and hoping that someone has encountered this issue and found a solution. Two to three weeks ago my system (2017 Macbook Pro 15") began stuttering to the point that my work becomes downright impossible. This stutter comes in the form of audio cutting out or becoming choppy, the mouse cursor speed coming to a crawl, and choppy animations when moving windows around. My system lives in one of two forms, when at work: 1x external monitor connected via usb-c to displayport, magicmouse, and airpods. Then when at home: 2x external monitors connected via usb-c with the same magicmouse and airpods. The stutter exists in both forms. I've reset the Bluetooth module, SMC, NVRAM, Upgraded/Downgraded to High Sierra and back up to Mojave with no changes. I've monitored temps, CPU activity, and ram usage and haven't seen anything spikey during this lag. I've been holding out on the trip to the Apple store, as it seems that it would be a waste of time unless I can replicate at will. Has anyone had / solved anything similar? [link] [comments]  | ||

A friend of mine gave me an older MacBook Air (2013 version, I believe) with the Mountain Lion OS (10.8.5) running. So, to upgrade to Mojave I created an Apple ID on the website, went to the App Store, clicked on the new OS version, and then logged in. First, it tells me that this new ID hasn't been used yet and to review my account information. When I click review, it says: "Software Update Required To make changes to your payment information, you need to upgrade your Mac to the latest version of macOS." and it wants me to change their to either there or they're.... both of which are incorrect. This isn't the only one I've seen but I can't remember any other specific examples. I can select the audio output device to be the TV. This works well. However, when I close my Mac's lid, the video continues to play on the TV itself, or from my laptop's speakers if I tweak power saving settings. I've decided that my reliance on keeping a memory-draining tab open in my web browser needs to end and the time has come to untether myself from GMail. Also, I detest that they change their interface every so-often and this most recent iteration is particularly upsetting to see. So, I've done some research on mail apps, but it's difficult to determine whether they offer the specific features that I need to operate my personal and business emails the way I've become used to. | Bluetooth Quality Issue since Mojave Update Posted: 01 Nov 2018 10:18 AM PDT Hi Everyone, Since I have updated my MacBook Pro (2016) to Mojave I have a sound quality issue with my bluetooth connexion. I hear many crackles and there is no bass sound anymore. I have tried with several bluetooth devices and the result is the same. I came to the conclusion that the issue came from the bluetooth connexion of my MacBook Pro. | Posted: 01 Nov 2018 06:13 AM PDT I've noticed a UI inconsistency when using dark mode that I've not been able to find any information on. Specifically, when setting the accent color to gray in dark mode, the window controls are sometimes colored, but only in some apps and only when connected to an external monitor (only 1080p tested). The image linked below shows a few examples. It seems that all native Mac windows show the gray buttons consistently, except the App Store. Also, when set to light mode all buttons are gray. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or if there's just something corrupt with my system. I would probably do a fresh install to resolve this. [link] [comments]  |
