Posted: 22 Nov 2018 03:14 AM PST From their forums: We're introducing a great upgrade in terms of video playback experience to our iOS and Apple TV apps! Up until now, we relied on Apple's AVPlayer for video playback. That was a simple solution, but very limited in many aspects. However, now we've added support for mpv 3: the same higher-quality video player we have in Plex Media Player, that will result in sharper video output and improved subtitle support. The new player is still experimental, and we do plan to make it available to everyone, but for now it's available to Plex Pass holders as an early-access preview. You can turn it on and off at any time in Settings -> Advanced. What's changed? With this new video player, the apps will be able to play many more video formats without transcoding. This also includes a new custom video player UI in the Apple TV app that adds support for seek thumbnails, proper audio & subtitle switching during playback, and some other things we'll add in the near future. We also gained more control over our playback stack. More: https://forums.plex.tv/t/new-video-player-available-in-beta/335439 Finally. I've been waiting for this for so long. [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Nov 2018 08:17 AM PST SOLVED: Connect Apple TV to HDMI ARC port in TV. Everything works as intended thanks to u/Melchiah_III Here's my issue: My wife has an iphone and prefers using the Apple TV. I have a google pixel 2xl and all kinds of google home stuff, and I use the new Chromecast. We have a Samsung smart TV with CEC, so it's great when she presses a button of the ATV remote it switches, and if I tell Google to play something on the TV it switches to that too. The problem is that the Apple TV sounds best at about 12/100 volume, while I need the TV to be at about 36/100 volume while I use the Chromecast. We only use the ATV remote for volume, so when the TV is low, then I cast to it, if I change the volume it switches back to the ATV. I can't turn off CEC because it's just way too handy. So here are the solutions I've been looking for: 1) Change audio output level of ATV so it matches Chromecast better 2) Have ATV volume buttons change internal output rather than TV (preferred, but likely impossible) 3) Change TV volume from Pixel 2XL (likely impossible since it doesn't have IR blaster, but I will see if my smart TV will allow it via app) 4) turn off CEC just for the ATV volume buttons. I think that's all I could think of to try. Has anyone else had a similar issue and found a solution? Edit: SOLVED [link] [comments]
Does 120 hertz frame rate TV matter for Apple tv3 (one before apple tv with app store) Posted: 21 Nov 2018 10:39 PM PST I'm shopping for tv and i have the apple tv3. I'm wondering if 120 fram rate makes contents in apple tv smoother as its supposed to be. Or the apple tv doesn't support it so it will look same as 60hz? If so I'm just gonna buy cheaper tv. I'm not planning to upgrade to newer apple tv for now. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Apple TV won’t let me use phone to turn on Apple TV? Posted: 21 Nov 2018 06:30 PM PST I used to be able to turn my Apple TV on my phone from the control center. But now when I click the home center button the shortcut is just telling me to connect to a device. They are both in the same iCloud account and air play is on on the Apple TV. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Nov 2018 06:44 PM PST so just bought The Nun HD copy digitally, i've notice that Picture quality is way better on appletv4k using my LG Oled C8, it's so good that it looks 4k using appletv, even tho i bought HD code, the movie is also showing HD on appletv. compare to vudu HDX quality appletv4k is way better i'm confuse. but Vudu has better sounds quality than my appletv4k, dunno why? the bass is much richer playing on Vudu. does anybody here have Vudu as well to see if i'm right? What alternate remotes are you using? Posted: 21 Nov 2018 09:10 AM PST While I don't necessarily hate the 4K remote it isn't the best let's be honest. I find I use the iPhone app more now which gets the job done. What 3rd party remotes do you use? I'd prefer not to spend the same amount of money on a remote that I did for the 4K ATV. Thx. Happy thanksgiving as well. [link] [comments]

ABC live channel says that i am not in that location Posted: 21 Nov 2018 04:31 PM PST ABC and CBS live channel used to work, now it says that I am not in the viewing location. Is it an appletv problem? Using a vpn. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Nov 2018 02:49 PM PST So, I'm using Apple tv 4th gen and the quality with YouTube and iTV hub (the only apps I've used so far) is dreadful. Only got it today and my internet is 50mb download and 18mb upload so I doubt it's that. When I screen mirror from my iPhone it's fine but I don't want to do that🙄 Oh and my TV is FHD 1080p 50hz (40 inch) [link] [comments]

Is it possible to Screen Mirror to Apple TV and view on both devices? Posted: 21 Nov 2018 02:17 PM PST Hi, I am working with a young boy with extremely low vision who has an iPad Pro. Normally when watching TV he stands right up to the TV so he can see the screen. This is causing issues with family though so we are looking at ways of him being able to view what is on the screen on his iPad. Family doesn't have a smart TV, just an old style TV. Happy to hear any thoughts on options, but from what I have read there is no way of doing the opposite (i,.e.mirroring what is on the TV screen onto his device) but wondering if they got an Apple TV if they could then choose what to watch on the iPad and mirror it across to the Apple TV, so it shows on the TV and also stays on the iPad screen as well. They would want to be watching Netflix, YouTube and some TV on demand apps. My worry is I had read that some apps like Netflix have restrictions which will make the device not show the picture once it is mirroring via airplay, and i don't have an Apple TV to test this all on. Posted: 21 Nov 2018 06:29 AM PST I read that you can use the appletv to mirror the screen on your 'macbook pro' I have a spare computer monitor can I connect that screen with the appletv rather than a TV? it has no speaker output so I'm also wondering if I can make the sound come out of the laptop instead? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
