Macbook Spacebar adds two Spaces Posted: 19 Nov 2018 01:14 PM PST My macbook has a problem when I am typing and hit the spacebar, it will insert two spaces instead of one. It happens about every few words and is very annoying. I have tried to fix it by turning off key repeat and increasing the delay, but that has not helped. Anyone else know of a fix? is there a way to prevent my computer from allowing me to type two spaces in a row? I assume this happened because i am a grad student and use my laptop for note-taking several hours per day. Maybe something in the spacebar needs to be replaced? Edit: I have a macbook pro 2017 with the thunderbolt ports and i run on mojave. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Nov 2018 08:33 PM PST So i have a broken macbook 12 inch 2016 deemed too expensive to repair by both apple and rossmann repairs in NYC, im gonna sell it for parts but I still have 2 accounts password protected that you can click on but never log in, just stay loading for hours. What would be the risks of just selling the laptop as is on ebay and someone getting my laptop with all my account information even though they wouldnt know the password. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Nov 2018 02:40 AM PST Ok, I know, complaining on Apple is a bad karma thing to do, and yes, they do lovely things, macbooks included. But I cannot for the life of me understand why they continue with the butterfly design instead of going back to a mechanism that works, both in terms of not breaking and in terms of feeling great to write on (read: the old one). Yes, they have improved the butterfly from the original Macbook 2015 catastrophe, and they continue to make improvements. Writing on it no longer feels like writing on the ZX 81, but even if they fix the current problem with its breaking all the time, it just will never be as nice to write on as the old design. A few millimetres added on today's super-thin computer lineup will still makes a very thin and nice computer -- who cares? Sorry for the rant, but I have lost count on the number of times I have had problems with this key and that one. And to repeat: even when they all work (kinda), it is still not as nice to write on. I would not go as far as to say that it is ruing my life, but it is coming very close to being a deal-breaker real soon. So give us back our old, great keyboard. Call it a new design if you will, give it a new flashy name and get Jony Ive to tell us that it is "the best keyboard Apple has ever made", but put it back onto the Macbooks! I do not really know what to do about it, but one step, I guess, is to Sign this petition! Any other ideas? EDIT: Sorry if I made it sound like I was stating a universally shared fact about the macbook butterfly keyboard here. So to be clear(er): I am not giving you the output of an empirical keyboard testing study, but my own personal opinion. 100% mine. But I do admit that I am happily surprised to see that a lot of you out there have a diverging opinion, since I do not have a single Macbook friend who prefers the new one to the old. Says perhaps more about my crowd than something else. My bad. So for you who think the new one is better: I am happy for you guys. You are wrong, but I am happy for you :-) [link] [comments]
Hard to turn on macbook pro 15 when connected to monitor via hdmi cable Posted: 19 Nov 2018 01:57 PM PST Hello all, I have a question, Im pretty sure this isnt a big issue but i have 2018 mbp 15 inch and sometimes when mbp is already connected to a monitor, it wont turn on. I had this issue when i had 2017 mbp 13 inch. I open the mbp and press power, it wont turn on... I keep pressing power button out of frustration and the computer seems to be on because its telling me that "voice command on" or "off" if i press power button numerous times. I waited for 5 minutes for either for external monitor or mbp monitor to be on but, it is not and my mbp is getting warm.. eventually, mbp does turn on somehow and prompts me to "forgot password reset menu" thing and when i do exit that menu, it works like nothing had happened. Not sure its a bug but do you guys think its an issue out of my mbp or hdmi cable, or even my monitor? Thanks for the help in advance!! [link] [comments]
MacBook Pro 12,1 (early 2015, 13") Posted: 19 Nov 2018 05:05 PM PST Hey Reddit, I own a MacBook Pro retina early 2015, 13", with 120 GB SSD. Can it be replaced with 500GB/1TB SSD, or it's soldered on the motherboard? (I'm asking the internet because my local store said that my specific model's ssd cannot be replaced for some reason) Thanks! [link] [comments]
"Mac OS could not be installed" on normal restart Posted: 19 Nov 2018 01:07 PM PST I went to restart my Macbook Pro (n-TB, late 2017) today and got a "Mac OS could not be installed" message. I don't believe I had any updates pending, as far as I could tell it was a normal restart. I did install some updates last week. Has anyone seen this before? I was able to restart just fine the next time, though it seemed to take longer than before. Any help would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]

MacOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6 Macbook Pro (13-inch, late 2011) 2.4 ghz Intel core i5 4GB 1333 mhz ddr3 Intel hd graphics 3000 384 Mb And I'm not gonna read out my serial number. Posted: 19 Nov 2018 07:53 AM PST Ok I'm going crazy here. I have a 2nd hard drive connected to my Mac that I need to make a backup of. All I see everywhere is how to make a backup of the main hard drive on my Mac. I tried to use time machine but it keeps backing up my main hard drive instead of the one I plugged in to my Mac. Posted: 19 Nov 2018 10:37 AM PST I am looking for an ultra wide monitor of my 2017 macbook pro. My only desires are a 21:9 aspect ration and it needs to allow me to use my mac while closed and charge it. Open to all suggestions but I would like to keep it under $650ish [link] [comments]
Question: I’m buying a used macbook off of Craigslist... how do I put the apple care in my name? Posted: 19 Nov 2018 04:11 AM PST Hello, I'm not a tech savvy person at all... I am purchasing a macbook from Craigslist. The macbooks system has already been wiped clean and such so does that mean the apple care is gone and I cant put it in my name through my Apple ID? I'm sorry if i'm not using correct terminology. [link] [comments]
