Hide the grey / bright dark menubar on secondary display Posted: 29 Oct 2018 02:29 AM PDT Hello, So I was getting tired of having fullscreen black out non-primary displays, so I had enabled "System Preferences - Mission Control - Displays have separate Spaces". However it seems to come with really annoying consequence: It also enabled the menubar on all other displays. Which itself is not a big deal.. problem is it is so bright and annoying (when dark mode is on). Is there any solutions to this ? How one can keep fullscreen apps not blacking out other displays and at the same time to not have menubar on all other displays (or have it "inactive" bright dark / grey). Cheers! Fresh Mojave Install... iCloud/Backup data migration Posted: 29 Oct 2018 01:59 AM PDT Just did a fresh install via a bootable USB. Wiped clean nice and new. So I have a clone of my previous High Sierra install with all my data on it. Previously I have used iCloud and my Desktop/Documents were synced (meaning the same files are present locally on the High Sierra install as in iCloud). Is there a way I could transfer my Documents folder to my fresh install from the clone and have iCloud recognize that it's the same data as in iCloud? It seems that iCloud wants to re-download all my data to the new install despite the files already being there. Does that make sense? I have horrible Comcast and I'd rather not hit my data cap. I didn't even know I had one until the last fresh install I did and once all my data migrated locally from the cloud I got a stupid warning message from Comcast (I think it's 1TB/mo) that I had gone over my limit... Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments]
Chess app no longer recognises voice commands in macOS Mojave Posted: 28 Oct 2018 02:13 AM PDT Chess app no longer recognises voice commands in macOS Mojave. I have tried everything I can think of, I have Enhanced dictation on, I have tried turning it off and deleting the speech recognition file from /System/Library/Speech/Recognizers/SpeechRecognitionCoreLanguages, and reinstalling the Enhanced dictation files again but to no avail. How is Mojave on the MBA 2017? Posted: 28 Oct 2018 02:50 PM PDT I just got the upgrade notification in my MBA 2017, 8GB RAM, i5 today for macOS Mojave and I wanted to know first if it worked without an issue before upgrading. Anybody with the same model who is now running Mojave? I'd appreciate it if you told me if I should upgrade or not. I'd so like to try the dark mode. Thanks 👍🏻 [link] [comments]

Trying to install beets on Mac OS 10.13.6; having Pyhton issues Posted: 28 Oct 2018 06:18 AM PDT I'm trying to install beets on my Macbook Pro running MacOS High Sierra. I'm following Mattias Fripp's answer in this stack overflow thread for how to deal with Apple's SIP, which (I think) would then allow me to install an updated version of Python, and ultimately use pip to install beets. I admit I don't have my head fully wrapped around this whole idea. In it, he says "If you install your own version of Python, you should probably uninstall anything currently installed in /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages and any scripts that were installed in /usr/local/bin for those packages (including pip)" I haven't progressed far enough to know exactly what he's saying to do. When he says uninstall, is he saying remove everything in that directory? And when I look in /usr/local/bin, how do I know which scripts to remove? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
