Restore to factory settings fail! :(

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 09:57 PM PDT

I tried retiring the system to factory settings because I'll be selling my Mac soon and now it's stuck in this never needing restart cycle where it shows the load bar but then errors out with a message "your computer restarted because of a problem" then it goes back into restart mode where it errors out again and so on and so on.

I f'ed up. I know. Anyone know how I can fix this? Any and all help would be appreciated!

Macbook Pro Mid 2014 Staingate Repair

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 06:54 PM PDT

    Hi,

I called Apple about this for my mbp with screen peeling. They had no idea what I was talking about and didn't help at all. Several people I know with 2015 pros got theirs replaced for free, is this just apple support being stupid, or did they end the replacement program for Pros already?

Is intel core M faster than intel i5 MacBook?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 10:18 PM PDT

I have a 2010 MacBook Pro with the intel i5 (8GB with 256 ssd) the screen and battery are not cutting it for me. (I've already replaced the battery twice) and it doesn't support Mojave.

Thinking about upgrading to a used 2015 retina MacBook 12 inch with the intel core M (8GB with 256 ssd) I'm wanting this model for the screen resolution and long battery life.

I'm a graphic design major and need to run Adobe Illustrator smoothly. Looking to spend $700. Is the 2015 MacBook 12inch a good choice?

    2017 MacBook 12" i7 1.4 GHz 16/512

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 08:25 PM PDT

The 2017 1.4 i7 16/512 MB12 intrigues me. I know it throttles and will slow down to be about even with the i5 for extended load conditions, but I understand that in burst tasks, it is pretty fast. Anyone here have one and can speak to how it is to use one in the real world? Productivity, development, light graphics, light video work?

I did all this on my 2016 m5, and it did OK. I've owned/used several 2015 and 2016 MB12 units, so I'm real familiar with the benefits and limitations of the overall design. My current 2015 MBP 13" is nice, but I'm considering going back to the lighter machine.

Should I change the OS for a Duo Core MacBook 10.6.8

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 07:00 PM PDT

    Hi all!

First of all yes I know my computer is really old. But Im a student and picked it up for $65. I essentially use it for movies, writing papers and light gaming (I was surprised that Warcraft 3 runs perfectly on it). Anyways, I was wondering would I get an over better performance out of my little macbook if I changed the operating system to Windows or Ubuntu. And is it hard to do that. Thank you very much!

Does the NEW retina displays still have staingate issues?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 04:44 AM PDT

So, I have a late 2013 rMbp. Yesterday, I got the display fixed due to the reflective coating coming off and my display looking hella shit.

My question is; does the screens that they replace the old ones with still have the problem with the coating coming off?

    Thanks in advance!

    Best Screen Cleaner?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 09:45 AM PDT

I've only had my MacBook for 2 weeks, but the screen is already filthy. Can anyone recommend a screen cleaner that is totally safe for use on the screen? I've been looking at ecomoist, does anyone have any experience with it?

MB Pro Retina 15 Inch vs MB Pro 17 Inch

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 02:15 AM PDT

Which is better for video editing , the one with larger screen (17 inch) offers more work space even with lower resolution vs the retina that has higher resolution but things are more small? I mean in which screen would the time line happear bigger?

Necessity of ssd encryption when soldered to motherboard

    Posted: 08 Oct 2018 01:24 AM PDT

As the new MacBook Pro 2018 TB Models have their ssd soldered to the motherboard and there is no port to read the data, which are the arguments towards hardware encryption?

Isn't this feature mostly used to prevent s.o. to insert the hard drive somewhere else and read the data? If so the mentioned model doesn't need data encryption...(given that no body takes the hustle of soldering chips in and out)

    What are your thoughts?

(Here a link, which let me think about it while reading: https://datarecovery.com/rd/the-2018-macbook-pros-data-recovery-problem-explained/)
