What I'm about to detail is a series of stupid mistakes, I will grant you, but please try to help anyways, I'm slightly desperate. I'm a college student and I work a lot on my laptop. All of my passwords, my papers, my notes, basically everything is on there. I noticed last night that I had my laptop plugged in, but it wasn't charging and the chargers light wasn't on. Whatever, I figured maybe it was unplugged or had finally given out (it's an older charger, kinda chewed up). Today, I tried plugging in again to the same charge, no dice. I thought for sure it had just died, and went about my business. My laptop died, so I fished out my spare charger and plugged it in. Nothing. I tired a different outlet. Nothing. A different charger, a different part of the house, I cleaned out the port as best I could, all for nothing. My laptop isn't recognizing my chargers, my chargers aren't lighting up, there is some serious disconnect where nothing is working. Now it's completely dead, I have no way of reviving it, oh and I haven't backed it up in about a year. I'm lazy, I'm stupid, I deserve to lose my data if I don't back it up, I get it. I'm slightly freaking out. I can't get a replacement because, like I said, I haven't backed it up in a year. I'm worried. I'll go to the Apple store ASAP, but if they end up replacing the battery (this will be the second time, the first was about two years ago), will I lose my data? If something else is busted that they can't replace, will they be able to, I don't know, put my laptop on life support or something so I CAN back it up? Or maybe could THEY back it up for me? | Apple Watch timer cutting OFF Music om airpods Posted: 08 Oct 2018 01:03 PM PDT Hi guys - basically since updating my applewatch the timer keeps cutting OFF my music once the timer hits zero. Its quite annoying in the gym and since it has haptic feedback i dont see the reason why it should stop Music from playing once the time is over. | Cannot add Google account to iPhone X Posted: 08 Oct 2018 05:01 PM PDT I got an iPhone X from work, I'm just messing around with it, but it won't let me add my Google account. I'm signed in to iCloud, but when I go to Passwords & Accounts > Add Account > Google, then enter my credentials and accept the 2FA prompt on my other phone, it just goes back to the screen listing account types, i.e. iCloud, Google, Outlook, etc. I've tried my work and my personal Google accounts, on 2 different wifi networks, rebooted twice, it will not let me add it. I can download Google apps and sign in to those no problem, I just can't add my Google account, so I have no contacts synced. What gives? [link] [comments]  |
| Is there any way to force an app to sync data with Health? Posted: 08 Oct 2018 06:04 PM PDT I've had this problem suddenly come up in the last few weeks since getting a new iPhone and Apple Watch: when I track a workout using a third party app (Runtastic), the calories and exercise minutes don't show up in the Health app and my rings don't close. I got in a decent one hour workout, admittedly maybe not as intense as I might've lived, but my watch is only registering 7 exercise minutes and a barely closed Move ring. I checked in the settings for the app and in the Health app, sharing is enabled. But when I look at the workout history in the Health app, it's clear that the workouts are only transferring to the Health app some of the time. There is pretty much no support available from the app maker, as far as I can tell; I'm still waiting to hear back from an email I sent them over a week ago. So I'm hoping there's some way to resolve it from the Apple side. [link] [comments]  |

| Phone and MBP are no longer syncing Messages Posted: 08 Oct 2018 05:15 PM PDT It's never been a perfect system. Some android phones I text to won't get picked up by iMessage on my laptop, etc. But it's always mostly worked fine until now. I went into my phone's settings and for some reason, the phone number had been deleted from my settings in iCloud. Emails were all still there but not the phone number. I finally got at set properly but iMessages on my phone is missing loads of texts that are on my laptop's iMessage software. What do I gotta do to make them sync seamlessly? | Restore to factory settings fail help :( Posted: 08 Oct 2018 10:08 PM PDT I tried retiring the system to factory settings because I'll be selling my Mac soon and now it's stuck in this never needing restart cycle where it shows the load bar but then errors out with a message "your computer restarted because of a problem" then it goes back into restart mode where it errors out again and so on and so on. The wireless card in my laptop is a Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0. This card is listed on the website to not specifically work, but the card type is listed as (0x14E4, 0xD1). I was using Airdrop from my phone to my MacBook a lot, especially for transferring photos I took. It suddenly stopped working. I tried signing out and back in to my iCloud account but didn't make a difference. Anyway I really got tired of this and decided to reset everything. I backed up my MacBook and made a clean Mojave installation and restored the iPhone to factory settings and set it up from scratch. As the title says, my iTunes won't recognize my iPhone so I can't sync my phone anymore. The App Store says I can't update to Mojave. I've tried all the basic troubleshooting aside from completely restoring my phone. | Posted: 08 Oct 2018 02:12 PM PDT I'm so sick and tired of seeing this message, when it's not true. I have iPhone 5 64gb up to date and itunes up to date, and my iphone states that I have 5gb of free space (while itunes says 10gb for some reason), but even though I try to just add few megabytes worth of audio files, this message pops up claiming that I need to remove gigabytes worth of stuff. Even unchecking those audio files won't help, it's still saying that I need to remove stuff even though nothing is added and all that the files are already on the phone. Sometimes trying again and again this increases the amount of storage that needs to be removed. Also, even when for example I would need to remove 100mb worth of stuff and remove that amount of music, it still says that I need to remove more and has dropped the value to 80mb. I've tried restarting both devices, even restoring backups and reseting the whole phone with no results. I've been struggling with this issue really long and it drives me up to wall, how the hell you fix this. [link] [comments]  |

Specs - Intel Core i7 6700HQ, 2.6 GHz, 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 RAM Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB/AMD Radeon Pro 450 256 GB SSD. Its been 9 months, 13 days since I purchased the laptop. I'm a student studying Computer Science. My workflow - Google Chrome (usually 8-10 tabs) Terminal Text Editor (Sublime) Preview (for pdfs) Itunes Screen Brightness - 60% on average. Automatic graphics switching on, for battery life. I have used VirtualBox for about a month, during February-March 2017, when I needed VMs for a course I was taking. Initially, the first few months until about last couple of months, battery life was easily around 9-10 hrs, at least 8 on heavy usage for my workflow. Now I get around 5-5.5 hrs, maximum 6. What steps have I taken already as a diagnostic measure? - Reset SMC and NVRAM when I was on High Sierra (before Mojave Came out) (No improvement) - Clean installed MacOS Mojave once it was out. - Uninstalled Chrome and used safari for a week to check if it was the issue - Stopped using Itunes for music in the background to check - Reset SMC and NVRAM again. Even then, no significant improvement in my batter life. Apart from this, Apple has listed the maximum cycle count for this model's battery as 1000, after which I should consider replacing it. My cycle count is already at 338. Is this normal? At this rate, will my cycle count reach 1000 within the 2-2.5 years of purchase? Is that how it is normally? I live in India, where there aren't any apple stores. Service centres authorized by apple are there though. If this is a problem, should I go ask for replacement of battery? | Corrupted Hard Drive, any way to save some of the files? Posted: 08 Oct 2018 05:28 PM PDT My Mac book has a hard drive that cannot be repaired in Disk Utility or fsck, I've tried both. Also tried reinstalling the OS fails, I've tried every fix I could to get it to work. Also, creating a disk image fails as well. Is there anyway without logging in I can transfer some files from folders to an external drive? When I go to the restore tab on the disk utility and press image source I can see my folders and files, so it appears to have some access to them, however I don't have a source image. But the fact that I can browse the hard drive still from there, is there a way I can transfer some files from a recovery menu or terminal? I would do that but I use Siri through my HomePod so I need it active. Can I run the HomePod strictly through my iPad which would allow me to shut Siri off on my phone and therefore off on the watch? It doesn't boot, or it does but then just for a few minutes (even though the battery indicator says it's 100% charged). My macbook has been notifying me for a while now that the battery needs replacement. But there's one thing that makes me think there might also be something else involved, and that's this: https://imgur.com/a/pyxMoGO (I'm very sorry for the baddd pic) I hope you can see but the right corner and bottom don't fill up the whole screen on the desktop and it glitches out when I drag an application there or w/e. I also quickly tried to play a full screen video and that did work somehow. I have no clue how this works. It's a 15" mid 2012 MacBook Pro.
