iCloud Sync Failure - all documents deleted - how to recover Posted: 28 Oct 2018 04:35 PM PDT Using OSX El Capitan 10.11.6 While the sync documents was already checked in icloud preferences, it was not syncing, so I manually dragged documents to icloud in finder. It seemed to get hung after syncing 14 docs. I went into icloud preferences and unchecked the box and selected the delete (versus cancel) option and it deleted all my files on my mac without uploading them. While I turned the sync back on, the files are already gone. I know they have to be buried somewhere on my mac as apple can't truly delete the files before uploading them, or have a list of files to delete when it doesn't even have them on the cloud. That would be absolute abhorrent programming. Does anyone know where apple stores the data? I've tried using EaseUS but I can't preview what it has recovered (before shelling out $90). I also turned on defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES via terminal and cannot see them in Finder. Any help is much appreciated. [link] [comments] |

My IPhone 8 sound and camera are extremely broken...except in certain circumstances Posted: 28 Oct 2018 11:58 AM PDT 3 days ago I woke up on top of my phone(I fell asleep on it) and my phone has degraded significantly. Some problems I have:
For this issue, sound does not work, it doesn't come out of even my keyboard or ringtones. HOWEVER, if I'm in a phonecall, I can still hear and talk to people, however if I put it on speaker phone it (usually) does not work.
Videos don't load, on any app, and even on my camera roll/ICloud. It'll buffer and then just freeze on the first frame. It happens on WiFi and Data.
I've talked with multiple different Apple Care representatives and another 3rd party phone technician and they're all split between software and hardware. I'm pretty sure it's hardware, and I have an Apple appointment on Friday at the Apple Store. Having said that, does anyone have ANY other possible ideas or solutions before then. I would love to see if I could fix this on my own now. [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro going straight to screen with a mouse and keyboard? Posted: 28 Oct 2018 09:46 PM PDT When I turn on my MacBook Pro (early 2015), it has the loading bar right below the Apple logo, and then goes to screen that alternates between a picture of a mouse and a picture of an unloaded bar. The caps lock key isn't lighting up either. I think it's because I just went to college, and have the laptop squished in between all of my books and binders all day. Is there any possibility I can fix it? If so, how? It's been like this for ~48 hours. [link] [comments] |

"PepperFlash" folder for Google Chrome on Macbook? Posted: 28 Oct 2018 08:56 PM PDT I recently discovered on my MacBook Air that there is a folder called "PepperFlash" in the Finder path Can anyone else verify on a MacBook that there is a folder called "PepperFlash" when you open the path 2) press "Shift+Command+G" to open the 'Go to folder' option 3) insert the following into the search field 4) locate the folder "PepperFlash" in the library you just opened, if not available visit a website that uses flash and allow it to play to see if the folder appears [link] [comments] |
Recently Deleted Photos all gone Posted: 28 Oct 2018 07:36 PM PDT My recently deleted pictures have all been deleted from my phone. I recently had my phone powered down for like 2 days so I was wondering if that may have been the reason for the deleted photos. Also, my phone updated during that 2 day span so that may have been the reason as well. Is that possible? When you shut your phone down or when you update your phone, can you lose all of your recently deleted images? [link] [comments] |
Trouble updating to iOS 12.0.1 Posted: 28 Oct 2018 03:25 PM PDT I'm trying to update my iPhone X to the latest iOS through iTunes because I'm restoring a backup onto it however the other phone (6s) was on iOS 12.0.1. However when it finishes downloading and is 'processing' the file, an error comes up saying failed. I can't remember what exactly it said but it pretty much happens after downloading it. MacBook Pro 2018, 13" -- issue with USB-C to DisplayPort Posted: 28 Oct 2018 10:00 AM PDT Short version: One of the ports on my computer stopped recognizing the external monitor. I switched to a second, and that worked for a few weeks. Now, today, had to start using a third, since the second stopped working. Longer version: I've had the computer for about a month and a half now, and purchased a couple of USB hubs so I can easily hook up my computer at home and at work. Because of the way I have my desks set up, I always have my computer to the right of my monitor, so I would connect it using one of the USB-C ports on the left side of the computer. After a few weeks, it mostly worked without issue, but there were a few times that it wouldn't work right until I opened the laptop, restarted it, and then closed it up again to go into clamshell mode. After this started happening more frequently, I randomly tried using the other port on the left side, and that was working without any problems. As of today, the second port on the left side is no longer detecting the external display. I tried the trick that always worked in the past (restarting the computer) and nothing changed. So I randomly decided to try plugging the hub into one of the ports on the right side of the laptop, and it worked just fine. I unplugged it and plugged it back into the back left port again (the one I had first started using, weeks ago) and that still wouldn't work. But switching the plug to the nearer left port (the 2nd one I started using) now works again (for now). Is this a common issue? Is the issue caused by the computer, or the hub I'm using, or is there any way to really know? It can be a bit frustrating to have to mess around with the computer for a few minutes just to get the external monitor working, when other times it works just fine. [link] [comments] |
IPhone x wont accept charge at all from usb-c to lighting adapter cable. Posted: 28 Oct 2018 01:31 PM PDT I bought the usb c to lightning adapter cable and I have been using it for almost a month to fast charge my iPhone with the 87W adapter and even using my MacBook Pro to charge when I'm away from home but now when I try to charge it with the cable it won't charge at all, not even at normal speed. The cable is apple certified as it is from apple themselves and it works when I charge my AirPods case with the MacBook or the 87W adapter but not the iphone. I tried draining my phone and see if it would charge if it was completely dead, and it seemed to be working as the cable icon disappeared and only the battery icon stayed when i connected the cable into the phone and I left it like that for half an hour and the phone was still dead. Is my iPhone defective or what? [link] [comments] |
Washed out image external monitor miniDP Posted: 28 Oct 2018 05:17 PM PDT I have a mid-2014 MBP13 and I'm having issues connecting to an external display via the miniDP ports. I'm getting a clear picture when I connect my LG Ultrawides via the HDMI port but the image gets washed out and sharpness reduces a lot when I connect via miniDP. I have two monitors so I'm certain it's the computer. I am not using any type of adapter - a DP to miniDP cable. Anyone else have this issue? What can I do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Oct 2018 04:49 PM PDT I found an iPad I got in 2014. Software Updating won't load. Update is on 9.3.5, iTunes won't update. Any help? Model A1432 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Oct 2018 03:50 PM PDT I tried to update my phone to iOS 12 through iTunes but it took forever to download the update so I just updated on my phone instead. I was able to update to iOS 12 but now every time I try to sync my phone to my MBP I get this software update message. When I click install, I get this installation failed message after a few minutes. Already tried restarting the system and using a different cable to connect. I'm using a MBP 2010 running on the latest version of Sierra. iTunes is the latest version as well. [link] [comments] |
Considering moving my iOS backups from my MacBook Pro to an external hard drive Posted: 28 Oct 2018 11:39 AM PDT |
Posted: 28 Oct 2018 02:14 PM PDT 2015 13" rMBP (i7/16GB) on 10.14. Scrolling is perfectly smooth with the internal display (scaled to 1440x900) and my Dell U2412M (1920x1200 low-dpi). But I bought a 27" 4K LG (60Hz over displayport). The cursor is smooth and smaller windows (ex. 1440x900's worth) are smooth. But when I maximize ANYTHING, text scrolling becomes very choppy. It's bad when scaling 1920x1080, and it's even worse at 2560x1440. Am I simply asking too much of the IGP? Are the newer 13" models any better? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Oct 2018 05:53 AM PDT I read some months ago that you could use your iCloud email as Apple ID. Right now I have a gmail address as the Apple ID, but I like to use my iCloud one as the ID. Nevertheless every time I try to do it, it says the Apple ID can't be change at the moment. Any help? [link] [comments] |
