After a few weeks there was an app ("Fiddlewax Blue") that I wanted to use. It had been offloaded. I clicked on it, and iOS says "Unable to Install Fiddlewax blue. The app is no longer available in the App Store. WTF apple? I had no idea this was possible. Luckily I still had the iPA file, but if I didn't I'd be SOL. Is this how it's supposed to work? | Posted: 30 Sep 2018 07:21 PM PDT Hi Reddit! Wondering if anybody has had this glitch before or knows how to fix it. Whenever I Facetime someone, it starts out working fine, but if they leave the Facetime screen to open another app, when they come back, it says that my phone is paused, even when it is not. I will still be able to see them and the audio works fine both ways, but from their side, it just appears as though I am paused with the black screen. The only way to fix this is to end the call and call again. This glitch has happened on calls with different people, so I know it is on my end. Any idea on how to fix this would be great! | 2011 MBP running 10.11.6 crashes when downloads is opened Posted: 30 Sep 2018 04:12 PM PDT Every time I open the downloads folder my Mac crashes. 15" MBP, early 2011, 8GB I have deleted everything from the Downloads folder then downloaded RetroPi and Etcher. Those are the only items in the folder. I tried to delete the com.apple.finder.plist but I don't have one listed in Library/preferences I am at a loss. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]  |
| "Firefox/Mojave is trying to install a new helper tool" Posted: 30 Sep 2018 06:23 PM PDT I have a late 2013 iMac running High Sierra and Firefox 61.0.1. Today, I tried to update Firefox, and where I would click okay to install the update was the message "Firefox is trying to install a new helper tool....Do you want to allow this?....Cancel/Install helper" That was weird, so I hit cancel. Remembered that I wanted to update my OS, so I attempt that. Click through to where I select the location I want to install it on, and I get that message again. Along with the expected message that I have to log in as an administrator in order to install Mojave, was "...Mojave is trying to install a new helper tool..." with the same options as before, but also the fields where I would log in. Obviously I didn't do that. I tried searching for an answer, and saw the same issue for a number of different programs, including Atom and Skype. I saw at least one mention each of it happening in Firefox and both High Sierra and Mojave. Is this malware of some sort? If so, how do I get rid of it? Or how do I make this stop? | Repair info for 2018 Touch Bar MBP with dead pixels Posted: 30 Sep 2018 09:04 PM PDT I've had my 2018 MBP for about three weeks now, and it's developed a small cluster of dead pixels (maybe 4 or so) near the center of the display, creating the impression that there is an eternal piece of dirt on it. It's obviously under warranty and I've set up an appointment at the nearest Apple Store, but I'm curious if anyone here can tell me more about how Apple handles this, in terms of

| Posted: 30 Sep 2018 04:10 PM PDT I deleted it recently. Today I decided to reinstall it, but it wouldn't download. I had seen this issue before, which would usually also prevent me from updating apps until I did a soft reset. I did that, thinking it would solve the problem. Now it's still stuck on "waiting", but in the App Store the app says "Open". There's no way to delete it from there, and deleting the app from the home screen doesn't work either. Unfortunately at this stage in life I a) don't have the available budget I used too and b) don't need as much horsepower as I used to when I purchased it. The main uses will be adobe creative suite(Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom), as well as Pages, Numbers and the Inter-webs. | Handbrake making mid-2011 iMac real hot... Thoughts? Posted: 30 Sep 2018 03:34 PM PDT It has a Quad Core 3.1 GHz Intel i5-2400 (Sandy Bridge) processor. Having run Handbrake for about an hour or an hour and a half: https://i.imgur.com/Cq9lNJo.jpg About 15 minutes after completing a film and closing Handbrake: https://i.imgur.com/ikEDVtn.jpg I can't really hear the fans with Handbrake, which makes sense given the small difference in rpm in the pics above. Shouldn't they be starting at these kind of temperatures? Feeling behind the screen, the top left corner of the iMac got really, really hot. It's technically the family computer, so I'd rather like not to damage it in any way and would prefer not to use my own MPB for this. This was just a DVD but I'd like to compress some Blu-rays which will take much longer (5+ hours). Can/should I manually fiddle with the fans and have them start running? Is there a way to limit Handbrake's CPU usage (I know it'll make compressing take longer)? Thoughts? Should also note this iMac had a problem a number of years ago that caused the screen to go all foggy, which had something to do with the fans and heat, but was changed under AppleCare, so shouldn't be relevant now I guess but thought was still worth mentioning. If i type in Ma, for instance, it'll recommend other values from that column that start with Ma (say, matthew johnson). I had a few loose keys that I tried repairing from watching YouTube.. I noticed the "nipple" below the key was off.. anyway I brought it to Apple and they quoted me $339 to repair the whole keyboard which I thought was ridiculous.. I brought it to a local shop and the guy said he could do it so I left it to him.. I just picked it up and now everything is all sorts of messed up.. My space bar doesn't work My system clock is displaying 1999(from which I gather my onboard battery is dead) If I don't have the laptop plugged in it dies My WiFi hardware is not installed What do I do from here? Can anyone give an idea how much Apple will charge me for all of this? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 30 Sep 2018 02:17 PM PDT I am facing this issue where if my iphone not plugged in the laptop, iTunes works and runs perfectly. However, as soon as i plug the usb into the laptop, itunes stops responding in every way. My windows still work well and runs and i can force quit itunes using task manager but it will happen if i open it and try again. What i have tried: 1. Restart both laptop and iphone 2. Itunes and windows and ios all up to date 3. New usb cable 4. Uninstalling and reinstalling itunes I am running ios 12 on iphone x I can't format my iphone and can't check it on another laptop.
