Beta of any software is not made for mainstream daily use. There's a reason why it's called a Developer Beta.

Mojave Developer Beta has been out for only a few days now. If there are specific issues with the Beta, then you have to live with it and wait for an update or use a previous OS version.

If you don't know what you're doing with the software, do not install Beta software **EVER**.

It's tiring seeing this subreddit with "HELP ME!!!" posts of users installing software without caring about the consequences in the first place. This happens every year. People make the post I'm currently making every year.

    Just. Stop.

iCloud Drive not syncing on MacBook (12-inch, Early 2015)

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 01:25 AM PDT

My iCloud Drive is stuck af. It never syncs with my iCloud.com or my iPhone (though the latter two are in sync without issue). Whenever I put files into iCloud Drive from my desktop, it shows me that it's uploading and how big each file is, but it never moves on from there—no uploading ever happens.

And you can forget about downloading.

No one seems to have been able to solve this problem. I've checked everywhere, except maybe the Genius Bar itself.

This just doesn't seem like an issue I'd have to pay to get support for, but I suppose we'll have to see about that.

If you need to know, I'm totally updated on my macOS High Sierra.

[Question] Questions about the 2017 MacBook Pro

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 06:50 PM PDT

    Hello,

So recently I made a post about upgrading parts to my 2010 MacBook Pro hoping it would run faster and just be better. However Apple will no longer support software upgrades to my device and maybe some of you will disagree but a device becomes useless and obsolete to me once it stops supporting OS updates. Since then I've decided to save $600 for the next 3 months to afford a new MacBook Pro.

I've read a few different things online about the computer. Some are good, others bad. However I've decided I'd bite the bullet and just get it anyways. Now the question I have is pretty simple but I'd like some advice. I have two options ahead of me. I'm not trying to spend more than $2k on a new MacBook so the two options sitting in my shopping cart are as follow.

    • MacBook Pro 13 Inch 256 GB / 16 GB RAM without Touch Bar

    • MacBook Pro 13 Inch 256 GB / 8 GB RAM with Touch Bar

Those are the two options I'm looking at and the reason I can't decide is because I'd really like the touch bar however I also don't want to end up having a slow computer because I didn't opt for the 16 GB of RAM. From experience what do you all recommend I do. I don't use my computer for much else other than school work. Maybe playing the Sims 4. And browsing the web. I'm not a major gamer. I don't edit or develop software so all the big apps that usually would require a lot of RAM are not an issue for me. So with that being said what should I buy?

Also I forgot to mention both of the computers I listed above are roughly the same price given a $100 difference between the Touch Bar.

[10.14] What is that sound after awaking from sleep?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 07:41 AM PDT

On macOS Mojave preview, I get this sound effect a few seconds after I log in when waking from sleep. I have no clue what the meaning of it is.

    Here's a short clip showing it: https://youtu.be/c1PX43kE73E

How to get links in Safari to open in a new tab?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 11:49 PM PDT

I'd prefer it if, whenever I click a link (to view a t-shirt, for example), the new link would open in a new tab, instead of the current tab. Is this a feature, or would I have to right-click and select "open in new tab" every time? Thanks.

    [Question] Does Mojave enable MST

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 11:30 PM PDT

I've stumbled upon trouble when I've used a StarTech MST enabled hub, where the screen only mirrors on both screens connected to the hub. The hardware is a MacBook Pro 13" w/ Touch Bar from 2016.

According to: https://www.startech.com/se/faq/mst-hubs-mac-osx-support the problem resides within Mac OS and the non-existent support w/ laptops having Intel GPUs.

Does someone know if they've enabled this feature with this coming OS release?

    Thanks!

Any macOS performance comparisons across OS versions?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 04:07 PM PDT

As many Mac hardware benchmarks there are out there (like GeekBench ones: https://browser.geekbench.com/mac-benchmarks ), I have yet to see any quantitative (and rigorous) testing on performance between macOS operating system versions.

Examples would be the ones Phoronix do, but usually they are focused on Linux (so macOS or Windows show up as contenders to a Linux disto/version): https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=mac-win-linux2018

    Any suggestions?

Custom App Shortcuts in System Preferences appear as "..."

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 06:14 PM PDT

Does anyone get this problem? I've upgraded to HS from El Capitan and most of my custom App Shortcuts now appear as "...". When edit, it becomes a tiny input box, though the menu items are still there unchanged.

PSA: If you are considering running MacOS Mojave with Discord / Discord Canary

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 02:12 PM PDT

    As of the right now:

Discord WILL run on 10.14, but there are a few issues.

    • Canary version will cause your computer BATTERY temperature to spike hard and rapidly
    • The icon will vanish when the app is running
    • Canary version, video calling does not work
    • Auto-update crashes Discord (this is assumed to be the random crashes, seen more frequently on Canary than regular).

Discord has stated that they have no plans to support 10.14 at the current time, or fix these bugs in the near future, claiming most of them are not their problem (blaming Electron/Apple/etc.).

Mid 2012 MBP 15” Retina frozen after login on macOS Mojave

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 06:47 AM PDT

As title states, my MacBook Pro freezes after login. I sign in and get to my desktop with all my files there, but my login items start running (Palette peripheral, Garmin watch app, and Spotify) and then it freezes within 10 seconds.

I have rebooted in recovery mode and got to the desktop again but never fails, it freezes.

Anyone having this issue and or a way to work around, or should I go back to an old backup in recovery mode?

The light wallpaper works for darkmode, but could be a glitch?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 04:35 PM PDT

Could have been talked about, but opening my mbp screen while using a monitor during dark mode shows the monitor with the dark wallpaper, but the mbp wallpaper is the light one and turning dark based on time.

Is this a glitch? Or can anyone confirm?

[10.14] A long list of bugs in macOS Mojave.. anyone who knows how to help?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 03:57 PM PDT

[MacBook Pro 15", mid-2015 (pre-touchBar)] So I jumped the gun and installed it because I just couldn't wait to see that spicy dark mode, and here's what I've got so far: -to begin with, pretty much every app is just slow and freezy -safari is buggy inside and out, i can't use google at all because it just freezes the whole window, other websites load perfectly fine and are completely usable. YouTube has the same issue, it won't even load -audio is completely broken, I get the grey volume overlay with a Ø in it whenever I use my volume buttons on my keyboard, and the only options in the volume menu bar icon are a bunch of nonexistent airplay options, such as 8 "Apple TVs" (which I don't have) and one called "Bedroom" and one called "2048". I have reason to believe that these are somehow demo items, and I have no idea how to get rid of them. I can't play any sound at all out of my Internal Speakers, nothing whatsoever. -System Preferences is extremely slow and usually freezes completely as soon as something requires authentication (for some reason most settings are locked by Parental controls even though i dont have that set up). -iTunes won't open, it just bounces hopelessly in the Dock -probably a lot more that I'm forgetting but let's just start with these

    THANKS!!!

This is how to install macOS 10.14 right now (Mojave)

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 01:50 PM PDT

    Hey Guys,

in case you can't wait to use dark mode and other cool features, I found this link -

    https://beta.thuthuatios.com/en/ (I already tested it)

    https://i.redd.it/17ev8t657n211.jpg

It works like magic, you just clicked on install and following the DMG wizard, then iTunes will appear and start to download the OS, after 1-2 hours (download and installation) you will enjoy Mojave ;)

if you have any questions - feel free.

    Can't log in on Mojave...

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 06:50 AM PDT

I've got a Mid 2012 MBP. Installed Mojave and it seemed to go just fine, no errors popped up. I can get to the login screen, but when I put in my password, it goes to the grey screen with the Apple Logo and a 3/4 filled progress bar, and then bumps me right back to the login screen. Any ideas how to fix it? I've already tried reinstalling Mojave from recovery and get the same problem...

Will performance change if I upgrade a late 2011 MBP from El Cap to High Sierra?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2018 12:39 PM PDT

I know the rule is that performance gets worse to make hardware obsolete, but I'd heard recently that some OS's actually are getting leaner now. Should I stay put or upgrade? I have intergrated graphics. There are some nice new features but don't want to pay with a slow machine.
