    [Question] I have the Apple TV 4K, my TV supports HDR 10 but not Dolby Vision, if I buy a film that’s Dolby Vision will it just revert to HDR 10?

    I know I'm not the first to have this problem, but I haven't been able to find a solution online or with Apple support, so am trying it here.

    I have the Sony XBR x900e and it was working fine with my Apple TV 4th gen. I recently got the Apple TV 4k (through the DirecTV Now promotion) and it's had 2 significant PITA issues since I set it up:

    1. Sometimes when I turn on the TV (especially when it's been off for at least a few hours), the Apple TV home screen blinks on and off and it is not responsive to any button on the remote EXCEPT that I can restart the Apple TV by pressing and holding the menu and TV buttons. If I do that, or unplug the Apple TV and plug it back in, it restarts and then the Apple TV works fine.
    2. Sometimes when I turn it on, I get a blank/black screen with a "no signal" message. The same fix - restarting the Apple TV - works for this problem as well.

    One or both of those problems happens pretty much every day.

    I've updated the software on both the TV and Apple TV, factory reset the Apple TV (a couple times), and swapped out the HDMI cable with a different one. I've also played with the HDMI CEC settings. Nothing has worked. I haven't bought one of the new fancy ultra high speed HDMI cables, which is the only thing the guy on the Apple support phone suggested. I'm willing to spend the $30, but from what I've read that doesn't fix this problem.

    Any thoughts or other things to try?

    Unless anyone has a good idea, my next step would be to go to the Apple Store and see if they'll replace the Apple TV and I can find out if it's a hardware issue (which seems unlikely). If that doesn't work, my final step would be to use it for target practice with my nail gun in the backyard.

    Need help with the Apple tv and the Harmony universal remote

    I am using a Harmony 650 universal remote with an Apple tv 4k and the Youtube tv app. Right now when I'm watching a show, the only way to fast forward is the fast forward button, which skips forward 15 secs. Same with the rewind button. Holding down the fast forward/reverse buttons does not do anything. So if I start a 2 hour movie and I want to fast forward to 1:45, I have to hit the skip forward button 630 times. On the Apple tv remote I can scrub forwards and backwards with my thumb and go the entire 2 hours in a second. Is there someway to do this with the Harmony 650 remote?

    Airplay to airport express using iPlayTV

    A long shot, but is anybody having issues with airplay not connecting to an airport express when selecting channels using iPlayTV? I cannot find out if it is a bug in the app, or a bug in tvOS 11.4.... any takers?

    Alternatively is anybody using airplay 2 with this app? I'm thinking about buying stereo HomePods to replace the airport express...

    Hi. Im a (poor) college student going to tech school. I could greatly benefit from scooping up an apple TV just for airplay. The media features of the 4 don't really interest me. Is the Apple TV 3 able to not only screen mirror, but also give me an extended screen? I can't seem to find any specs on that specifically.

    [Question] Recently bought an Apple TV 4k, can anyone recommend some games and a controller?

    Just bought an Apple TV 4k, and I am loving it so far.

    It turns out a lot of my iPhone games are also available on the Apple TV. Currently I am looking to get a controller for some casual gaming, would really appreciate if you guys have any recommendation on what controllers I should get and what more games I should grab.

    App doesnt respond to volume control

    Issue with HDMI that I’m not getting

    So I bought an HDMI cable that's rated for 18GBps and says HDR 60Hz compatible on the box. I plug it into my TV's 4K 60Hz port and according to the manual it's also an HDR port.

    What does my AppleTV 4K say? 4K HDR 60Hz not possible, defaults to SDR 60Hz. Any idea why?

    TV OS 12 - When/How to enable Dolby Atmos?

    So my question is this. I have TV OS 12, but cant see any option (yet) to enable Dolby Atmos? I assume that the videos need to support this, and that this will happen in the future.

    Can someone confirm my understanding please?

    Before you say it, yes I have a Dolby Atmos receiver etc..

    I've been using AirVideo HD to stream video files from my computer for years, so I haven't looked for anything better. Is there anything better than AirVideo?
