I'm starting my Master's degree this year so I'm thinking about getting the new ipad mainly so I can write my notes on it. I'm looking for an alternative to the apple pencil because right now buying the ipad and the apple pencil is a little bit too expensive for me. Do any of you use other pencils/stylus with your ipads? | iPad 2018 9.7inch or iPad Pro 10.5inch Posted: 18 Jun 2018 12:01 PM PDT Hi guys. I'm in the market of a decent tablet. I haven't owned a tablet since the iPad mini, I thought after getting my iPhone 6S plus I wouldn't need a tablet anymore but I think I got the need again. In terms of what I will do with the iPad, mostly lightweight stuff, enjoy media, take notes with the pencil (which i heard is now supported in the 9.7 inch model), browse the web a bit. I own a really powerful desktop and a fairly powerful MBP (13 inch early 2015 with i7 + 16gb ram + 256gb ssd), I was using my mac a lot but I think if I keep using it as a "carry everywhere, fall asleep on it" type of device, I will deteriorate it rather quickly. I like having good performing devices but honestly if I do video editing, I'd either do it on my desktop or laptop. For pictures I have a DSLR. Basically my question is: I think a regular ipad 128gb wifi model will do the job, but is there any specific reason (killer feature perhaps?) I should choose the 9.7 inch over the 10.5 inch? Does anyone have any better suggestions? I have looked through Alibaba and they mostly have the same offerings as I've shown here. Big brand offerings (logitec etc) can be considered if they meet all the check marks. But I'm not looking to spend more than $100 on this. Posted: 17 Jun 2018 03:25 PM PDT Hi All I have have an Ipad 2 which is being used by my 3 year old right now, which is mainly only Youtube kids and its locked down just for that. We are going overseas in the next 2 days, and due to long air travel (yay 11 hours), I downloaded a whole bunch of kids shows on youtube to mp4. | Do the iPad Pro (2nd generation) models have a battery issue? Posted: 17 Jun 2018 03:18 PM PDT Today I went to my local Apple store to replace my iPad Pro under AppleCare+ for $50 deductible because a very small dent had appeared on the back of it. I figured I was a year in so I might as well use one of my claims. The lady was very helpful and said she was going to check the battery for me. Okay, I thought not expecting anything exciting, only to find out my year old iPad Pro was sitting at 80% of its original capacity with only 118 charge cycles. Keep in mind my iPad has never been subjected to extreme temperatures or over zealous charging habits. When needed <55% or lower, I simply charge it overnight. I know that isn't normal and had seen a lot of 10.5 Pro owners with similar or worse degraded batteries but I has dismissed it as an isolated issue. So right there that took my $50 replacement and turned it into a $0 replacement under warranty. I told the lady I will definitely come back in another year and have the battery replaced on the replacement iPad to prepare it for the years after my AppleCare+ expires. To summarize: The whole experience has left me wondering if the 2017 iPad Pro models have a battery degrading or quality control issue. In the next few years will we see a repeat of the iPhone 6 battery fiasco? What do you think? [link] [comments]  |
