Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion - What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend? - June 18, 2018

    Posted: 17 Jun 2018 09:09 PM PDT

Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!

As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!

Since this thread is likely to fill up quickly, consider sorting the comments by "new" to see the newest posts.

I just got a 256 GB phone so I set out to re-download all my previously purchased games, and I really hate how some publishers remove their original game but sell an updated version.

So far, I can think of Bardbarian, Machinarium and Icebreaker, but I'm sure as hell there must be more. I bought them at full price, and then I searched for them on the App Store to see that they were replaced by a new and "improved" version that I had to buy again. Also, so many of them are unavailable now because they're not 64-bit compatible. I guess that's not the fault of devs who don't stand to earn anything for updating their game so many years after release, but it would be really nice if the App Store had a "recently updated for ios 12 compatibility" section. That would motivate devs to update their games by giving them visibility for doing it.

    Best “idle games”?

    Posted: 18 Jun 2018 06:35 AM PDT

Games that you pick up for 2/3 minutes and then you're done, I like mostly pixelated games! Es Doug Dug or Tiny Tower

Looking for an RPG similar to Zenonia

    Posted: 18 Jun 2018 03:29 AM PDT

Wanna play an RPG that doesn't require an internet connection (sadly the latest Zenonia games require this) and has some sort of class system. Even something similar to torchlight would be cool.

Anything like the old Storm8 games out there?

    Posted: 18 Jun 2018 05:35 AM PDT

You know, like Zombies, Vampires, all those kinda-MUD games. I know of Zapoco, but there's not a whole lot to do in that one.

[DEV] This past weekend I released my first game, bird vs. drone! It's a casual arcade game inspired by two arcade classics can you guess them? It took me ages and is very simple, but I hope you like it.

Best games for someone who has done next to no mobile gaming?

    Posted: 18 Jun 2018 12:40 AM PDT

I am playing through the Phoenix Wright series again on iOS, and intend to get the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series eventually, as well as The World Ends With You.

What other games should I check out? Obviously I enjoy RPGs, but I'm not married to only playing that genre. Looking for games I may have missed over the years by not playing, as well as newer games.

The only card games I would be interested in would be ones that are pretty F2P friendly. I have played quite a bit of Hearthstone and Eternal, but have been a bit burned out on them.

I also like roguelikes, but I have never played one on iOS.

Playing on an iPhone, not an iPad, if that matters at all.

    Thanks. :)

Looking for good mobile games that aren’t card games.

    Posted: 17 Jun 2018 10:42 PM PDT

    Hey guys,

I've never used my iPhone to play games really other than Hearthstone and Eternal, so I was wondering what kind of games are out there that are worth playing.

I would prefer them to be free or on the cheaper end as I don't have a lot of money.

I really like RPGs first and foremost, but I liked Cookie Clicker on PC, and I like Roguelikes as long as they aren't too hard.

I suppose it could be a card game, but preferably one that doesn't require a lot of purchases like Hearthstone does, maybe more like Hand of Fate or Slay the Spire on the PC if anyone has played that?

Thank you all so much in advance. I really appreciate it.

[Developer] Ninja Masters - My Two-Button Take on the Fighting Genre

    Posted: 17 Jun 2018 09:09 PM PDT

Hi r/iOSGaming! After playing too many fighting games that felt oversimplified and pay-to-win, I decided to do my own take on the genre. It's IAP supported but it's not necessary and my friends have beaten it without spending any money. So why don't you give it a go?

    Radiation city questions

    Posted: 17 Jun 2018 07:29 PM PDT

    • Will there be a building mechanic similar to the one in radiation island? It's tiring having to carry all your stuff in car trunk and backpack

    • Will they re-implement a crafting system like the last game, all you make right now is meds, most of the other items are scavenged

    • Finally will they add multiplayer to Radiation City, would be much more fun if it were tweaked to be open world multiplayer survival A bit like rust

    Games like BTD6..

    Posted: 17 Jun 2018 05:23 PM PDT

I never played a Bloons game before, but I bought the new one a few days ago and have been playing non-stop. I really don't know how I missed the tower defense genre before, but I apparently did.

What other TD games are worth checking out? Is bloons 5 worth getting due to more content?

Provenance PSX control remapping with SteelSeries Nimbus?

    Posted: 17 Jun 2018 11:42 AM PDT

Hey all, what I'm trying to accomplish/figure out is how to remap the D-Pad Controls to the left analog stick on the SS Nimbus for the Provenance PSX emulator. Within the emulator, I can't find any settings for remapped controls, and any google searches were to no avail. Any help? Thanks!
