How to repurpose older Apple TV? Posted: 02 Jun 2018 06:20 AM PDT I happen to have an older model Apple TV unit, and I'm wondering what else I can do with it. Ideas? [link] [comments]
Issue with network speed and resolution Posted: 02 Jun 2018 01:47 PM PDT Hello all, I'm having a weird issue and I was hoping someone could help me out. I have a 90m connection and a cable connected directly from the router to AppleTV. For some reason I wasn't getting 4K in some movies so I've decided to enable the developer mode so I could see what was going on and what I saw doesn't make any sense. Depending on the content I get different results. Sometimes there's a movie, like "Atomic Blonde", that won't scale up to 4K no matter what. When I check the network speed, the speed won't go up above 15m, so that would explain it, right? But if I chose another movie, like "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", the speed is even lower around 10m but I get 4K to show in a a minute or two after the streaming started. Now, you would say that there's something wrong with my connection because the network speeds are low, despite getting full speed on speedtest. But the weird part is that if I stream a SD concert or a 1080P movie or "Jumanji" in 4K, the network speed goes up to 50m on the screen stats. So, depending on the title that I'm watching my network speed is higher or lower, for instance, "Atomic Blonde" around 15m and "Jumanji" around 50m, according to the developer mode stats on the screen Also depending on the title I can get 4K with a much lower speed than other title that wouldn't get scaled to 4K despite the developer mode showing a 40m streaming speed. It doesn't make any sense. Why the speed variability depending on the title chosen? Any ideas? Thanks! [link] [comments]
ATV Gen4- Distorted Sound with 11.4.1 Beta 1 Posted: 02 Jun 2018 06:51 PM PDT I installed the first beta of 11.4.1 (15M5054b) on a 4th Gen ATV (non-4K) and notice that there's a consistent low level buzzy distortion that happens at all volume levels with lower frequency sounds (both DirecTV NOW streaming content and system sounds). I do NOT hear the issue on a 5th Gen ATV 4K running the same build. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? [link] [comments]

Airplay 2: Siri can’t find my Apple TVs Posted: 02 Jun 2018 06:02 AM PDT I've updated all of my devices to the latest software. All works fine when controlled manually, however if I ask Siri to play something to the Kitchen TV it says 'I can't find that speaker'. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just not able to connect to Apple TVs using Siri? [link] [comments] |
