Extremely difficult to clean iPad Pro 10.5 display

    Posted: 05 May 2018 09:56 AM PDT

So, I like to keep my iPP (all of my devices, really) very clean. I wash my hands frequently and I don't eat while using any of my tech. But I've noticed that it's incredibly difficult to clean the iPP display from fingerprints. When rubbing the display with a microfiber or cotton cloth, it just infinitely spears the fingerprints everywhere. I was only able to completely remove them after about 15-20 minutes straight of trying to get them off, which is pretty excessive. So much for the display being oleophobic.

I have the Smart Keyboard, and I wonder if when it's closed that it might press the fingerprints in, making them more dense and harder to remove. This would make sense since it's the only device I have this issue with.

Does anyone else have this issue? What do you recommend?

Just got a new iPad. What is one thing that I absolutely need to do with it right now? Apps, settings, whatever. It's just sitting there and once I got my e-mail and contacts set up, it's kinda just sitting there, looking at me like wtf. I'm excited but now that I've got it I'm not sure what to do.

Which iPad should I get ?

    Posted: 05 May 2018 06:52 AM PDT

    iPad Mini 4 128 GB for $354

    iPad 2017 32 GB for $297

    iPad 2018 32GB for $341

I will mainly be using it to watch stuff and study and read manga .

I'm leaning towards getting the 2017 one but I'm concerned about whether 32 GB is enough or not .

Change iPad “connection” from wife’s phone to mine

    Posted: 05 May 2018 10:35 AM PDT

    Hey y'all,

My wife didn't want her iPad anymore, so I've got it now. Problem is, when I moved the data from my phone to this iPad, it moved everything but iMessages (although there may be other things that didn't). I tried to change the iMessage number from my wife's to mine, but it won't let me - it says I have to turn off iMessage on her phone, and then I can change it. But I suspect that that will make it so she can't send HER own messages.

Will doing the above steps mess her up in any way?

I know an alternative is for me to get a separate Apple ID. If I do that, what will THAT mess up? I don't want to lose any emails or texts or apps, etc.

Any help appreciated. Sorry if these are real noob questions.

Need help choosing between keyboards for my iPad

    Posted: 05 May 2018 07:30 AM PDT

Portability isn't really an issue because I'll be lugging it in a backpack anyway. I care more about the typing experience, compatibility, and consistent connectivity. I won't be pairing it with a case because I'm a klutz who requires my rugged case on my iPad lol, but this will be paired with my iPad placed on my Lamicall tablet stand. So far what I've narrowed the choices down to are:

    • Logitech K780
    • Logitech K480
    • Apple Magic Keyboard

How to ideo chat and do other things at the same time?

    Posted: 05 May 2018 10:00 AM PDT

I feel like I must be missing something. What app can I use to be in a video chat but to minimize the other person's video to a picture-in-picture? Skype seems to have no way to minimize without turning my camera off and hiding the video stream. FaceTime as well, and also Duo and everything else I've tried. Is this a limitation of iOS?

    Apple Pencil Home Button

    Posted: 05 May 2018 02:54 AM PDT

Am I the only one who would like the Apple Pencil to have a button at its cap which would act as a home button?

I use the Apple Pencil a lot with my iPad Pro 10.5" and I find it to be quite unintuitive pressing the Home Button or do gestures in order to switch between apps or go to the home screen while holding the pencil...

I think it would be faster and more convenient to have a home button at the Apple Pencil's cap.

Is 32 GB enough for an iPad? Are NAS devices easy to work with on iOS?

    Posted: 05 May 2018 11:20 AM PDT

I am considering an iPad. Likely the 2018 model because of Apple Pencil support and the upgraded professor (which should last longer). I would like to use it for notetaking, typing up documents, presentations, video/photo editing, and media consumption.

I've been able to get by fine with 32 GB on my current tablet, but I haven't done as much with it as I would with an iPad. I'd like to build a NAS for most of my media storage/backup, so ideally most of my content would be kept there. I am a new iOS user, so I'm not sure how easy it is to work with a NAS on iOS.

If I keep most of my content on a NAS, is going for 128 GB still worth it?

Is it easy to work with a NAS on iOS? Any recommendations for apps/services to streamline NAS access on iOS?

Where to find new IPad mini shell

    Posted: 05 May 2018 10:58 AM PDT

The cutout on my plastic IPad shell has become too worn to be able to attach it to my Filofax case (it's one of those cases which you screw onto the iPad shell). I can't find replacement shells with a cutout anywhere - any ideas? TIA!

    ProCreate questionnaires

    Posted: 05 May 2018 03:25 AM PDT

    Het Guys,

I maar thinking of buying ProCreate and u was wondering if the app was also good for drawing scetches. I plan on using it to design ui and other stuff for games. Would Anyone recommend the software for these things? Is it also to export the drawn images as a photoshop file of perhaps png?

I hope that someone can help me answer these questions.

Pages on 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9 "Draw" mode issue.

    Posted: 04 May 2018 10:39 PM PDT

    Hello,

Since the new pages for iOS came out I've always had a issue with the "draw" mode feature in it. After a couple of pages of hand written tex/drawings (4 or more) the app starts to lag when drawing a line for example it will take 2/4 seconds for the line to show up and typing text lags too...

I've reported the bug to apple and the developers and engineer are working on it and they where able to replicated on there end on a 12.9 1st gen iPad Pro, but I was wondering if anyone else is having this same issue? I would really like to use Pages as a digital notebook since I love the line drawing mode like from notes and smart annotations to allow me to draw anywhere on the same.

Thank you for your time and I hope you have a great day.

Best place to sell Apple Pencil?

    Posted: 05 May 2018 01:12 AM PDT

I somehow ended up with too many apple pencils and now I don't know what do with them! Other than craigslist, is there anywhere that you guys recommend for selling them? I'm getting zero bites on Craigslist. Thanks!

iPad for drawing and raw editing (2018 vs 10.5 pro)

    Posted: 04 May 2018 02:56 PM PDT

    Hi guys,

I'm gonna keep it short: I want an iPad for browsing, watching youtube/netflix, drawing (procreate) and photo editing (affinity etc.).

Originally I planned on going with the iPad Pro solely because of the screen. According to practically all reviewers the lamination of the iPad Pro makes for a much more natural "feeling" when drawing or writing with the pencil, whereas the iPad 2018 has a rather slippery screen that feels weird to draw on.

But what if I put a screen protector on the iPad 2018? Surely there must be one that provides a rougher, more tactile feeling for the pencil. That would be cheaper than buying the iPad Pro and I don't need the additional processing power anyway.

    Opinions?

tl;dr: Does the iPad 2018 + screen protector feel similar to the iPad Pro's screen?
