    RPGM types of games?

    Posted: 26 May 2018 10:17 AM PDT

I loved playing Doom & Destiny and I'm looking forward to playing Dragon Quest. Is there any other type of game that is 2D pixelated and I can grind to be more OP then the final boss?

My Rough Methodology For Recognizing Suspect Mobile Games (MRMFRSMG)

    Posted: 25 May 2018 03:35 PM PDT

Over the years, I've learned a lot about this industry, specifically regarding F2P games with "in-app purchases", and in truth, finding the good ones on your own is never as simple as finding ones that tick all the "right" boxes.

it's trying all of them and omitting the ones that tick the "wrong" boxes.

MANY of these mechanics are found in "Gachapon" games which you may be all too familiar with. I'm not hating on any game, nor would I fault anyone for playing any games that do these things.

But there are many non-gacha games, MANY, that employ these tactics as well.

often these mechanics are not bad on their own, but are helpful for recognizing games that are designed in this specific way. the kind of game that's just trying to get you to form a habit and make the game a lifestyle, all the while wheedling you to cough up some cash at every bend and turn.

these are suspect game mechanics, either part of the package of the classic "formula" proven to work, or are there to exploit human psychology in some other way.

    On to the list.

    • Getting this one out of the way, if the game icon is some yelling dude (bonus points if there's visible saliva) the game is probably one of the many "copycat" games, and is likely to be suspect, but isn't damning all on it's own.

    • If you open up a game and there is a star-rank system for characters, cards or items, it's suspect

    • If you open up a mobile game and see a 10+1 ANYWHERE it is SUSPECT

    • If there is a recharging energy system in your mobile game it is suspect. (habit-forming, wants you to constantly think abt and return to the game to "maximize energy efficiency")

    • If there are reward systems based on watching ads... only somewhat suspect

    • If you can only efficiently level up in a game by doing specifically "exp dungeons" or via fusion systems, ☠️Suspect☠️

    • If a game has daily rewards that's fine. H O W E V E R ,

    • If the game has sequential login rewards for playing multiple days in a row that is suspect

habit forming in a imo very intrusive way. players shouldn't miss big rewards just for skipping a day. good gameplay should be whimsical with no strings attached. again, it's trying to get you to think about it all the time. this is a bad design concept that, in the end, makes them money.

    • Many POSSIBLY suspect mechanics, i.e. prestige systems, instanced gameplay, ads or even the "incremental" genre doesn't make a game skeevy on it's own. these mechanics are bad when the "game" is nothing but padding for a company to work their formula on you.

these are all formulas followed by mobile game industries. most of them are deeply manipulative in nature, or very telling of their influences.

if a game employs even one of these mechanics I'd watch out. if more, possibly even uninstall on the spot if particularly suspect (though that's your call), definitely don't stop playing something you enjoy if you don't feel like there's a problem, just watch out for getting invested in something that is manipulative like this. it can be a slippery slope.

There are so many great games out there, but the mobile game industry is a sinister, slimy and almost completely unchecked demon, invisible to the untrained eye.

It's a machine. Don't get caught up in it

If you play enough you will see the patterns and know exactly when to nope out, sometimes within seconds of starting the game. sometimes before you even install it.

    Good luck out there

Using iNDS game really lagging and glitchy?

    Posted: 26 May 2018 03:32 AM PDT

Hi I'm trying to use the iNDS emulator to play a game but it's really lagging, super glitchy and it's making it impossible to play as the graphics are reappearing across the screen, it does have 3D graphics so that may be why. Anyone got any suggestions?

Has anyone played One Deck Dungeon?

    Posted: 25 May 2018 01:07 PM PDT

This game looks like it'd be up my alley, but it's pretty new and I can't find any impressions. At the $9 price point I don't want to buy without hearing anyone's thoughts. Has anyone played it?

    Plant based moba style game?

    Posted: 25 May 2018 10:24 AM PDT

Used to play this game maybe a year and a half ago and it was basically: you pick a hero which is like a plant, then you pick the critters that spawn out your base, and you fight AI until one team destroys the other team. Anyone know what the game is called?

It was usually one lane only where the two teams duke it out

    Posted: 25 May 2018 11:01 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I currently have an iPad Pro 10.5 inch, a Nimbus controller, and a good selection of great games. I'm wondering what the best way to play these games on my TV wwithout lag without having to purchase an Apple TV, and with being able to use the Nimbus. I currently have a Roku. Thanks so much for any advice and help!

Hey guys im looking for a certain type of game maybe you can help.

    Posted: 25 May 2018 10:48 AM PDT

Something that runs in the background and sends you notifications every 5-10 minutes with a simple task or objective. Chat Wars is kinda what im looking for but, honestly its pretty boring. even a genre would be helpful, im not sure how to search for this.
