Company provided me an iphone 8 plus - privacy issues? Posted: 26 May 2018 04:30 AM PDT So my company in London provided me an iphone 8 plus. I'm currently holding the iphone 6 and am thinking of taking advantage of the iphone 8 plus camera for my next travel trip.
but actually i'm really curious as to what data they can access on the phone? the IT guy says he will need to install an app for "email security" before he can hand it over to me. I wonder what that means. is there is any app or website that can track exactly what data is sent out to the company server?
I will still be using my current phone for personal stuff as it is good enough for everyday use. but I think the 8 plus will be a better one for taking photos especially when travelling.
what do you think guys? should i use the iphone 8 plus for my personal photo taking sessions? [link] [comments]
Screenshot UI regularly disappearing? Posted: 26 May 2018 03:39 AM PDT Im in an iPhone X running iOS 11.3.1 but this problem has been there for several previous updates, and on an iPhone 7 too. Randomly, triggered by some reason I haven't figured out yet, sometimes when I take a screenshot, there's no flashing animation, and no little image popping up in the bottom corner to enter the edit mode. It's as if it didn't actually take a screenshot, there's no visual cues at all, but it still creates a screenshot. It stays like this until I restart my device. Any ideas how to avoid it or how to fix it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 May 2018 02:15 AM PDT I've got an upgrade from an iPhone 7 in 2 weeks, my options are either the 8, the X or a S9. Is the iPhone X worth it? [link] [comments]
Iphone 6s free battery replacement Posted: 26 May 2018 07:11 AM PDT My uncle decided to give me his iphone 6s to me. After using for 2 days the battery percentage shows inaccurate measurement , sometimes the battery goes from 80 to 76 in just few seconds. Later I found out that my phone is eligible for a free battery replacement. My question is will apple replace it even it is out of warranty? [link] [comments]
iPhone 7 vs iPhone 8 battery life (real experience) Posted: 26 May 2018 06:00 AM PDT Hi there, I am thinking about iPhone as my new smartphone. I heard a lot of critics about battery on iPhone 7, so I can not decide if I should buy iP7 or iP8. I have requirement to my phone stands whole day (when I charge it to FULL at evening, I came next day evening from work with least 10-15%). Is it possible with iPhone 7 or should I go to iPhone 8? Here is my phone usages: 10-15 min. emails, 1 - 1,5 hours of music (spotify), 5-10 (taken photos per day), 3 hours of web browsing and messenger / instagram. What do you think? What are your experience with these phones? Thanks in advice for answers! [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 May 2018 05:34 AM PDT I just bought an iPhone 6s off eBay thinking it would be unlocked (I use Cricket). I called T-Mobile and they confirmed that it is not blocked but were unwilling to do anything without a T-mobile account. I just messaged the seller to see if they can do anything from their end (the posting did not state it was unlock and they are not under any obligation to do anything) so I don't want to rely on them directly. What are my options? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 May 2018 03:42 AM PDT Lazy because I haven't bothered to try it yet. Despite background process being allowed, OneDrive never uploads pictures for me unless I actually launch the app, which defeats the purpose of the entire exercise. I don't have iCloud for Windows loaded on every (in fact, almost any) PC I use and I have no interest at all in using the Apple cloud infrastructure (because it's shit), though I dutifully pay the however much it is for the 200Gb of storage so that I have a backup of my phones and media on them if nothing else. This morning I needed to show someone a pic I took a week ago (the last time I explicitly launched OneDrive on the X) on my laptop, and while I waited for the picture to upload from the phone, debating whether just to go to iCloud on the web instead (the upload ended before the internal debate finished - the OneDrive upload speed is quite quick now, but again, that's not the point) it's an irritation I can definitely do without. I just want it to work invisibly in the background all the time. I have the following subs:
Is Dropbox likely to work any better as a camera backup setup if you almost never launch the app from the phone, or is this an Apple limitation in terms of how they try to save power in the OS, only giving their own services preference? I do notice that e.g. while I also launch Pocket Casts far more often and it should be checking for episodes in the background, it's often not always up to date. If this is the case and if Dropbox doesn't work any better, does anyone have any tips for reliably getting the camera roll on non-iCloud storage that dosn't involve an external solution (like trying to get a Mac to use something like Chronosync to keep iCloud and OneDrive / Dropbox in sync)? Posted: 26 May 2018 02:32 AM PDT The weirdest thing happened today. My parents were in the living room with there phones on the dresser and suddenly they both received a call on both of their phones at the same time. On my moms phone it said it was a call from my dad and on my dads phone it said it was a call from my mom. The strange thing is none of them had even touched the phone. Does anyone know what this may be [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 May 2018 10:01 AM PDT Currently on an s7 and thinking about upgrading to an 8+ and maybe even the X. Is it worth it to buy one now or wait for the price drop with the new ones coming out or the new ones themselves? [link] [comments]
Question Regarding Iphone X Case??? Posted: 26 May 2018 09:52 AM PDT Does anybody have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case or the Spigen Neo Hybrid Case? Which one would you recommend? Which has a better grip? Or if not spigen, what case would you recommend? [link] [comments]
How’s your battery’s health? What do you do to preserve it as much as possible? Posted: 26 May 2018 09:51 AM PDT As you may remember, Apple introduced an option to see the battery's health in the 10.3 update. After 5 months with my iPhone 8+ my battery is down to 95%, which seems odd since friends of mine have had their phones for much longer and have a better battery health. What do you do to ensure a better battery health after a long time of usage? [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 May 2018 01:39 AM PDT OK so we all know that poor old Siri gets quite a bit of criticism for being dumb. While that fact cannot be disputed in comparison to other AI assistants, she also bears a misfortunate name... Don't take me wrong, I actually like the name it's just that it sounds so close to something else. :) As it happens I attempted to ask Siri a question in front of my 4 year old boy. He is not familiar with the name Siri so when I yelled out "Hey Siri!" he immediately started to copy me but by saying "Hey Silly! Hey Silly!" I thought it was really funny, especially when taking into consideration all the criticism that Siri gets. The punchline! If you say "Hey Silly!", Siri will actually wake up on your phone and ask for your instructions! 😀 P.S. I thought Siri was only supposed to be activated by your own voice. I have two friends that can wake her up with voice and their voices are very different from mine... [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 May 2018 08:24 AM PDT Hey guys so recently I've been having some problems with charging where it would tell me that "The Accessory May Not Be Supported" and I would have to unplug and plug the cord in a few times to get it working. Also, sometimes when it does start charging and I go to sleep and when I wake up it only charges partially and does not go to 100%. Is is something wrong with the phone? Or just the cord? Could it be something else? [link] [comments]

Instant Hotspot issues.... or working as intended? Posted: 26 May 2018 04:06 AM PDT I'm running into three issues regarding Instant Hotspot. I'm using my iPhone 7 and iPad 2018, both fully updated. WiFi and bluetooth are turned on for both devices. 1) I can connect to my iPhone's data no problem using Instant Hotspot on my iPad. However, the connection is lost after my iPad screen is off for a couple minutes. This makes it really annoying to use, since I have to go into WiFi settings and reconnect to my iPhone every time. If this is working as intended, how do I get around it? 2) I keep Personal Hotspot set to "off" most of the time. I understand that Instant Hotspot will turn this on, as long as both devices are logged into the same iCloud account. No problem here. However, my personal hotspot will start broadcasting for all devices within range, not just my iPad. I would like for my iPad to be able to connect to my iPhone's data using Instant Hotspot, but for my personal hotspot to be invisible for everybody else. Is this possible? 3) After I'm done using my iPad and disconnect from Instant Hotspot, I notice that Personal Hotspot on my phone is now set to "not discoverable" instead of "off". I have to manually toggle it back to "off" on my iPhone. This seems like a security flaw for me. Any way to get it turn completely off after disconnecting the Instant Hotspot? Thanks!
