FaceID on iPhone X is getting so smart! Posted: 12 Apr 2018 07:50 AM PDT I got so excited about this I had to tell someone. FaceID is getting seriously smart with machine learning. It's a little clunky when you first start, but once it really gets to learn your face, it almost always works. Case in point: I've had FaceID open when I was covering one eye. Had a tissue over my eye because it was bothering me. Got bored, bc ADD, and went to check my phone, and it opened up no problem. It happened so fast, that before I even realized I had something obscuring my face and it might not work, I was already in! [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Apr 2018 08:18 AM PDT My phone's battery life is shorter with the 11.3 update. In battery settings under 'Time since full charge - in use' says 19 hours. I haven't used it for that long, so it seems some background process is draining the battery. [link] [comments]

iPhone 7 Battery drains like crazy + phone gets very hot. Both for no reason Posted: 12 Apr 2018 09:19 AM PDT So this began today and I can't figure out why. Seems to be a software problem with 11.3. when I'm using my phone pretty lightly or even not at all the battery drains really fast and the phone gets hot. Now My phone is at 2% and it's connected to the charger but it doesn't charge it just stays at 2%. Is the battery draining that fast that it can't charge? Nothing wrong with any apps no unusual things in battery settings. [link] [comments]
Is Apple replacing iPhone X’s with cracked screens? Posted: 11 Apr 2018 05:21 PM PDT Are Apple Stores in the US replacing screens on then iPhone X in store or are they just swapping out the whole phone? [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Apr 2018 06:29 AM PDT I use Chrome on iOS primarily, but I have seen this on Safari as well. How do you get rid of the ads that say "you're a lucky iPhone owner" and tell you you've won something? I feel as if I can't actually use the browser on the phone for the most part for how frequently the things pop up. You can't get rid of them without completely closing that tab, either. If you try to go back, it just keeps demanding that you claim your "prize" and won't let you back out. Is there an ad-blocking app for iOS that gets rid of these? I don't normally have issues with ads, but this particular one is kind of frequent and obstructive. [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Apr 2018 02:59 AM PDT Just got a new 8 plus, should I update it? Or are there new issues introduced with the newer ios version? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Spam Call-Blocking with Wildcards! Block entire area codes and prefixes. Posted: 12 Apr 2018 09:33 AM PDT I have wanted an app for this for a long time and I just discovered it exists! WideProtect DownloadWith WideProtect and you can enter your own phone number prefix to block all numbers to it. Or, as I have done, get a phone number in an area code where you don't know anyone and just block the entire area code. Also you can override the wildcard by still allowing anyone in your contacts to call you. The app is $2, but that's it. There's no monthly fee like Nomorobo. There are definitely some hacks used to get around iOS limitations, but worth it. It does take ~5 mins to add 10 million phone numbers to the block list, and if you switch to a different app while it's running, iOS seems to put the app to sleep, causing it to error, and causing you to have to start the process over. So, you need to keep the app awake and at the forefront while it's running this process. You can also block text messages that contain certain words or phrases. Which means that you can also block the transcribed texts you get from Google Voice telling you that you're wanted by the IRS. I have no affiliation with this app or it's developer(s). Just wanted to share. This app just made my day! [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 06:19 AM PDT What app could I use in place of MyFitnessPal? It gave my battery fits, even after deleting and redownloading. I had background refresh off as well as notifications with no luck. I liked being able to track food and weight easily. [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Apr 2018 06:02 AM PDT Long time Android user here who just bought a used iPhone 6s Plus. I was wondering if anyone knew about any cool things I can do with iOS that I can't do on Android. I know about imessage and how Snapchat is better. But are there any cool features that are less common knowledge? [link] [comments]
So I'm looking for a location based app to do the following. Posted: 12 Apr 2018 03:33 AM PDT Open the app> mark a location in a map view. Do this for multiple locations and make it remember all the locations. If the app has ever opened in a certain location again. The app should give a banner telling how long ago you last visited this location. For instance "Last time you've been or used your iPhone here was 2 weeks ago. I need this app to remember some of my visits and events. Since it seem that I'm not able to keep track of them myself. I hope it's somewhere in the wild or someone consider making it. I also don't know why Apple made location history and didn't even made any use of it. Our data is being abused more than being used these days. For instance see what's happening with Facebook these days. [link] [comments]

Best VOIP/2nd Phone number phone app suggestion? Posted: 12 Apr 2018 04:37 AM PDT Going on a 2 week overseas travel. I've been using Sideline as a 2nd phone number and forwarded my cell to sideline to make and receive phone calls back home while using local sim cards. Just tried to reuse the Sideline app, and it seems like it's no longer free, and I need to pay $10/month. Is there any free solution that's usable. I just downloaded and installed Talkatone and it's filled with so much ads that it almost makes the app unusable. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
Should I get an iPhone 7 Plus or an iPhone 8 Plus? Posted: 11 Apr 2018 11:33 PM PDT I'm planning to upgrade soon from my sluggish iPod touch 5g 32GB, and I plan to get an iPhone, which I plan to use like an iPod, with no cell service. I'm interested in the 256GB capacity, but I'm torn between the two. Since the 7 Plus 256 isn't produced anymore, my most reasonable option is to buy a refurbished one from Apple for around $850. I really don't want to pay $1000 for a new sealed one from a third party seller. On the other hand, is it worth paying slightly over $1000 for a new 8 Plus? Is the new A11 chip really worth the extra price? Is the performance really that much more noticeable? I plan to use it mostly for games, email, social media, and to store my massive music library. I've never used either of these phones in my life, so I'd like some advice on which one to get. I'm also planning to get an unlocked one, so would I need a SIM card to activate it? Thanks in advance! Posted: 12 Apr 2018 09:42 AM PDT Hopefully, someone can help me here but when I try to download an app on my iPhone 6 it prompts me for my password. When I enter it the prompt goes away and the app hesitates like it is going to begin downloading then prompts me for my password again like I never entered it. Anyone else have this problem? Do you all have any recommendations for a wireless charger for the iPhone 8+? Posted: 12 Apr 2018 05:32 AM PDT Hi all, I'm going to be upgrading from the iPhone 6 to 8+ and was hoping I could get some insight on the current wireless charging market. Have there been any significant improvements since last year? Do you have any recommendations for certain wireless chargers/wall adaptors? What are some spec I should look for when purchasing. Thanks everyone! [link] [comments]
