Final Work survey: Working out and app/wearable usage Posted: 12 Apr 2018 05:20 AM PDT Link to survey: https://goo.gl/forms/wN754dpYPlYdrj6D2 Hello! Some may have seen me posting in the past about an Apple Watch triathlon app as my Final Work for my bachelor degree, here I am again! The app is somewhat functional but still lacks a lot of things, and due to multiple reasons development has been on hold since January but I'll be starting again relatively soon. My professor told me I needed more research though, so I made a small survey that shouldn't take more than ~7 minutes. Everyone can fill it out and it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Do you have any damage on your Apple Watch? If you do how did it happen? Posted: 12 Apr 2018 05:07 AM PDT I don't have any major damage on my S3, just a few scratches and a small little crack on the screen. How it crack is that fell off my nightstand and hit my bed frame. https://i.imgur.com/9wwvKzd.jpg [link] [comments]
Big difference with HIIT vs. Other>strength Posted: 11 Apr 2018 09:08 PM PDT I switched over to Apple Watch from a Fitbit about 5 months ago. I would regularly use it to track strength training workouts in the gym. The Fitbit just used HR. I've been using Other>Strength Training in the exercise app on my watch when lifting and it'll record about 300 calories for a 45 minute session. I also rock climb and track that using HIIT since it involves intense periods followed by rest. I recently switched tracking my strength workout with HIIT and have noticed about 50-100 more calories burned for the same workouts I was tracking with the Other method. I'm not sure if I was under tracking before or overreacting now. Based on the info in Apple support, it seems like HIIT tracking would be more appropriate since its not continuous movement and the irregular movements will likely cause sensor misreading. TL;DR Has anyone found an accurrate, consistent sokution in tracking strength training with their watch? [link] [comments]

Preserving Apple Watch health and activity data during transfer to new iPhone Posted: 12 Apr 2018 07:11 AM PDT I have an iPhone 6s on iOS 10 and two days ago I backed it up to my Mac via iTunes with an unencrypted backup. I restored that backup to my new iPhone 8 with iOS 11 and everything went well. Today I've started using the 8 as my primary, and the one thing left for me to do is unpair the Apple Watch from the previous iPhone and pair it with the new one. I'm worried about all the health and activity data, though. According to this Apple Support page, I'm under the impression that based on my circumstances (iOS 10 instead of 11, unencrypted iTunes backup instead of encrypted), that if I pair my Apple Watch with the new phone, I'll lose all the data. Can anyone chime in and let me know the best way to do it? Thanks! [link] [comments]

How many people have problems with their Facebook Messenger app? Posted: 12 Apr 2018 06:30 AM PDT My friend and I have the identical issue: we've never been able to read a message on our watch. We can receive notifications, but when we try to open the message, it just churns. We both have the most recent 38mm model. [link] [comments]
Apple Watch + Spotify + Amazon Echo Posted: 11 Apr 2018 08:53 PM PDT One of my favorite things since recently switching to Spotify for my music streaming is being able to control native volume and playback on the amazon echo from my Apple Watch. It's such a small/simple thing, but I find it so awesome that I can do this without having to use Bluetooth. edit: how this works (requires spotify premium I believe)
or if music is already playing on echo
in order for this to work, "Device Lock Screen" must be turned on in Spotify app device settings [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Apr 2018 05:13 AM PDT Even though I knew it had gps I thought it still needed to be tethered. For some reason I thought it needed data to make it work but today it kept giving me all the info for turn by turn directions without a data carrier connection. The Apple Watch is becoming more and more useful. Rarely used mine before. Only time I don't use it now is when it needs charging. Edit: it can't - shame - still love it though [link] [comments]

Watch app is stuck on software up to date Posted: 12 Apr 2018 12:27 AM PDT When I was pairing my Apple Watch, it went along smoothly until I had to update. Which then resulted in it stopping at the point where it says "software is up to date". All I can do is cancel or continue update, which doesn't do anything. What should I do? [link] [comments]
