    What is the best approach to backing up a computer using Time Machine (w/ Airport Extreme ac?)

    I want to make this really straight forward. It is for a parent who uses an iMac.

    I was thinking of buying a dedicated external drive and plugging it into the Airport Extreme, is this possible? Alternately, I was looking into getting some sort of wireless backup drive.

    I think that having the drive plugged into the computer is too cumbersome for this person. So ideally it would be away from the computer

    I have a question about iTunes Match

    So I wanna invest in iTunes Match but I've heard there's still a few issues regarding when you upload an explicit song and iTunes matched the clean version. Has this been fixed? Are there any other known issues?

    What is the First Aid in the Disk Utility good for?

    Is it suitable for things such as accidental external hard drive unplug without safely ejecting it first while writing, power outages that shut down a hard drive immediately, and so forth?

    Web browsers using high CPU, eating memory

    I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I'm at my wit's end. Firefox and Chrome both are using far too much of my CPU and hogging my RAM.

    It can happen with anything from a news article to a YouTube video to Reddit. Even if I only have one or two tabs open, my computer's fans will gradually get louder and louder. When I open Activity Monitor, I see either FirefoxCPWebContent or GoogleChromeHelper running in multiple instances and using high CPU and memory.

    The fans get as loud as if I'm playing a game on Steam, but I'm only using a web browser. The only way to slow them down is to completely quit the browser.

    Does anyone have any ideas? Does this happen to other people? I'd post to r/Firefox or r/Chrome if it was happening exclusively to either browser -- but the fact that it happens to both leads me to believe there may be an issue with my computer.

    Specs: MacBookPro11,5 / 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 / macOS 10.13.3 (High Sierra)

    Hello, days ago I decided to downgrade my iMac (2011) from HighSierra to Sierra, because since I upgraded to HighSierra my Mac has become less efficient. Not having a foreign hard drive to backup, I partitioned the iMac hard drive and backed up here. After downgrading I can not restore the data from the backup partition because it says "this source contains a newer version of macOS" and to use it I have to update the OS of the mac, making my job useless. So I was wondering if there is a way to recover my backup without having to go back to highsierra again.

    can't sync contacts from iPhone to macOS High Sierra

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to move the contacts from my iPhone to my blank Contacts app in macOS. But it doesn't work. Any idea why?
    I remember being able to just hit Sync in iTunes and new contacts from my phone would appear in the Contacts app.
    Also I really don't understand the need to force us to use iCloud. It's a shit service, has been hacked many times and I see no actual point in FORCING me to use it. It should be stupid simple, just copy from phone to macOS via cable. What can I do? I don't want to use ANY service that sends my contact list to its servers. I need an offline method.

    Does anybody have problem with qBittorrent other than me?

    Last week I realized that qBittorrent is draining my internet speed somehow. I am not downloading anything, only seeding, but it makes my internet slower noticeably in some way.

    qBittorrent shut down I get 2 MB/s speed, with qBittorrent on I get 1 MB/s speed, or slightly higher speed. It does this constantly. Even when I am not seeding anything, it still makes my speed slower, it is very weird.
