Due to there being quite a few different issues that people are experiencing and there is not enough room for us to sticky them all including the fixes, we've made this megathread to list them. Please see them below.

We'll continue to keep this updated as much as possible. If you see a post that you believe should be linked in this megathread, please send us a modmail.

[Discussion] Can we appreciate coolstar’s work?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 01:35 PM PST

Last couple of hours I am reading only things about messed jailbreak, how is coolstar's jailbreak bad etc.

He has done some amazing work during last 2 months or so and he deserves a respect for that.

Saurik released update of apt like 10 hours after Electra official release, which was just an "accident", right.

I stand on coolstar's side in this.

[Discussion] Why did Saurik wait until the actual Electra release to tell us to basically “stay away”..??

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 01:33 PM PST

I know he's "Saurik the Almighty God of Jailbreaking" and he was sick (glad he's getting better), but why wait until the day of release to write this big long drawn out post on Electra jailbreak?? I'm pretty sure he stays dialed into the jailbreak community, keeps up to date like we all do, and knows things. I feel like if he cared enough, he'd let us know. Like "hey, i'm sick, but i am working on a jb" or something like that. Throw us a bone every now n then to keep us updated. Don't throw it in the people's face that love jailbreaking and that's been patiently waiting, that's not fair; Or if it's really that big of an issue, he should have reached out to CoolStar about it. It's not like it's a shitty jailbreak. Seems like CoolStar did the proper testing and it's a pretty solid jb so far. It's okay to keep a low profile, but having NO profile is not cool. It's like he's kind of being stuck up about everything. We all know you're the originator and we're VERY grateful. Just chill though. and THANKS COOLSTAR.

We made it everyone! Cydia survived 10 years!

Through dozens of iOS updates, bootloops, and glitches at every turn Cydia has withstood the test of time unlike many that came before it. Still running great on every system iOS 2-11.

Let us thank Jay Freeman/saurik for getting us this far, without Cydia the jailbreak community may not have been the way it was today

[Tutorial] How to Install DEB’s not on Cydia on Electra with NewTerm2

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 10:12 PM PST

A lot of users are still struggling to install debs due to Cydia now being introduced, to cut down your time on extracting the debs files and placing them in their respected folders you can just use NewTerm2 to install the deb file and do all the work for you.

    1. Download and install NewTerm2 from repo: cydia.hbang.ws

    2. Copy your deb file to /var/mobile

    3. Open NewTerm2

    4. Login as root: su root

    5. Enter password: alpine (default) or whatever you've already changed it to

    6. Then run this command: dpkg -i yourdebian.file.deb

(yourdebian.file.deb is an example, copy/paste your debs file name after -i)

    1. Profit

All installations can be completely uninstalled from Cydia.

    Enjoy!

[Tutorial] Electra - Fix APT 7 Strict Issue

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 04:26 AM PST

Electra 1.0.2 fixes this issue. No need to follow this tutorial if you install the latest Electra build. Download from here: https://coolstar.org/electra/

    Simplified tutorial for noobs: https://s0n1c.org/electra/

    Updated GitHub link: https://github.com/ElectraJailbreak/electratools/raw/gh-pages/debs/apt/apt7-lib_0.7.25.3-16-coolstar_iphoneos-arm.deb

    1. Download https://github.com/ElectraJailbreak/electratools/raw/gh-pages/debs/apt/apt7-lib_0.7.25.3-16-coolstar_iphoneos-arm.deb
    2. Copy that file to your device via SSH/SFTP (You can use programs such as Cyberduck, WinSCP, etc).
    3. SSH into your phone as root (Using a program like Putty or OpenSSH).
    4. Go into the directory where you copied that deb file to.
    5. Run dpkg -i apt7-lib_0.7.25.3-15_iphoneos-arm.deb
    6. Fixed.

Do not update APT (Or any other packages from saurik's repo) next time Cydia runs unless the update is from Coolstar's repo.

If you receive this warning you can safely ignore it:

warning: unable to delete old directory '/usr/lib/apt/methods': Directory not empty

[News] If you get an update for APT 0.7 Strict on Electra, ignore it. I repeat, DO NOT UPDATE. It breaks Cydia, avoid for now.

[Release] NoMoreVillains - Cleanly hide the Telugu character on iOS

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 09:33 AM PST

This is a very simple DEB package that moves the Telugu font to a different filename to prevent it from mucking up iOS.

    Proof:

    Vs-iPhone:/System/Library/Fonts/Core root# ls -l Kohinoor* -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 552996 Jul 14 2017 Kohinoor.ttc -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 393760 Jul 14 2017 KohinoorBangla.ttc -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 406044 Jul 14 2017 KohinoorTelugu.ttc.no-more

(this is after installation of the DEB package)

If you uninstall the package, it will move the Telugu file back to it's original location. You will need to reboot after installation or removal (this is a full reboot, meaning you will need to rejailbreak using Electra).

This package can be found in my repository (open on your phone and click the + symbol, it'll automagically open Cydia). Look for "NoMoreVillains".

This is cleaner than manually moving the file, as this means the file modification is tracked by the package manager, which simplifies installation and removal.

Given how tiny of a package this is (it's literally a couple of bash scripts), I will not be submitting this to the BigBoss or any 'main time' repository. That said, I do believe this to be a useful package to share anyway.

    ~evi

    EDIT:

    Vs-iPhone:/System/Library/Fonts/Core root# ls -l Kohinoor* -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 552996 Jul 14 2017 Kohinoor.ttc -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 393760 Jul 14 2017 KohinoorBangla.ttc -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 406044 Jul 14 2017 KohinoorTelugu.ttc

[Tutorial] If you lost your Cydia.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:16 PM PST

Many people have been deleting some files without knowing what they are doing and end up with no Cydia and no idea how to get it back. Tried and has worked on:
    Iphone X 11.1.2
    Iphone 6s 11.0.2 & 11.1.2

    1. Get this sweet script from KirovAir
    https://github.com/KirovAir/delectra
    Download and unzip

    2. Use WinSCP (or other..)
Copy paste the script into the root folder.

    3. Use Putty (or other..)
    in root execute "bash /unjailbreak.sh"

    4. ReJailbreak
Stop panic (the most important step.)

If this works then thank u/KirovAir for everything otherwise bad luck.

    user:root
    password:alpine

[Tutorial] : Fix for Tweaks not working after installing via Cydia/Not Showing up in Settings

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 08:29 PM PST

So I ran into the same issue & while debugging found the tweaks to be working when I put the dylibs in the TweakInject folder in /Library. Which basically made me believe that electra had an issue while creating the symlink.

Please follow the below steps only if you are having the issue of tweaks not working/not showing up in settings.

    • SSH into your phone as root (Using a program like Putty or OpenSSH).

    • Type rm /Library/TweakInject

    • Type ln -s /Library/TweakInject /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/

    • Type killall SpringBoard

    ENJOY!

Do this at your own risk & carefully

[Discussion] If you’re sitting on the fence about updating to 11.1.2, do it now.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 09:52 PM PST

    Hey all,

I didn't see any of these posts recently, but have seen a lot of people on twitter/discord being unsure wether to update to 11.1.2 from 9.x or 10.x. In this post, i'd like to clear some things up.

If you have blobs for 11.1.2 (or any version of 11 for that matter), get to 11.1.2 WHILE THE SEP for 11.2.6 is still compatible.

The Electra Jailbreak is finally ready for end-users, and we have cydia! We can rejoice with freedom for our iPhones, and truly enjoy our iPhone X's!

    Key Points

    1) The 11.3 SEP is not compatible with 11.1.2, and once 11.2.6 is unsigned, you'll be SOL to get to 11.1.2.

    2) Electra is safe. The worst thing that can happen while jb' ing, is it'll fail. (now, once jailbroken is a different story)

    3) Cydia works. With the betas of Electra, it was simple enough to extract a deb, and drag it to SBInject, but with a fully working Cydia, there's something magical. (also, it's super fast!)

    4) It's extremely easy to uninstall bad tweaks. Simply reboot, open Electra, and disable tweaks. Launch Cydia, and uninstall the bad tweak!

    5) Everything is reversible, thanks to the APFS snapshot! Any changes you make to the system will be un-doable, thanks to the snapshot!

    6) More and more tweaks are being updated every day. We've already gotten AppSync updated, (yay for no bootloops like with 10.2!) and many more great tweaks are coming.

    7) Futurerestoring is so easy. Grab the Encounter fork, dependencies, and set your nonce. Grab 11.1.2's IPSW, and restore! Simple as that. (There's many guides here on futurerestoring, so I won't worry about writing one.)

    8) The community. ETA kids may be at their worst, but we as a community have really come together and made this possible. Christ, just look at the credits on Electra! I'd take that any day over seeing "thanks to ...".

    FAQ section

    Q: "I'm on 9.x/10.x, should I update?"

A: This is all your decision, I would personally update ASAP, 11.1.2 is very stable for me personally, and I can see this being one of the last jailbreaks for a while.

Q: "I'm on an iPhone 5s. What should I do?"

A: Stay on whatever version you're on. Having personally used a 5s on 11, it's not a good experience.

Q: "I'm afraid i'll mess up the restore and be forced to go to 11.2.5. Where can I get help?"

A: You can join our [discord server](discord.gg/jb), where we have a team of 12/13 geniuses who are there to help you with anything jailbreak related!

I hope this helped some of you, and if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a dm on discord!

[Discussion] method on how to completely erase cydia and electra to start fresh. Might help with to.panga problems but haven’t tested

    Posted: 27 Feb 2018 02:56 PM PST

    Use this tool from @k1lll0y

http://www.mediafire.com/file/0z8m8w88zsajs70/Clean-2018228-Killy.zip [edit] link has been updated with more compatible tool

I thought i was doomed last night when installed a couple of tweaks in cydia using Electra to eventually find cydia had nothing in it at all. So rebooting my device and rejailbreaking with Electra 1.1 failed as it would get stuck on 2/3. I tried everything to fix it, Unjailbreaker from i0n but eventually I reverted back to Electra beta 11 to enable ssh and to completely delete cydia, topanga, liberios and Electra with @k1lll0y's tool and it worked perfectly. Just had to update Electra and re jailbreak. Hope this helps people
