Posted: 01 Jan 2018 09:04 PM PST Has anyone migrated a Boot Camp partition from one High Sierra Mac to another with only macOS? That is, without a supplemental piece of software like Winclone? Can't find any clear experience on this subreddit or the wider internet. [link] [comments] |
Trouble installing macOS on Macbook air (2015) Posted: 01 Jan 2018 08:43 PM PST So I reset my macbook air with disk utility and I am trying to install OS again. I encountered a problem when signing in to Apple ID and it says "This item is temporarily unavailable". I contacted apple support so many times, but to no avail. Can i create a bootable flash drive and install using a USB? How do I do it? I have a Windows PC. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jan 2018 10:14 AM PST Anybody else experiencing slow/laggy UI performance on Firefox 57 on macOS? It wasn't very fast in previous versions either, but it wasn't this slow compared to the Windows and Linux builds. I'm using a 2015 rMBP on 10.12 (fresh install, did it on 10.13 too). Even on default display scaling (I usually use 1440x900), Firefox struggles and lags horrendously. The only plugin I have installed on Firefox is uBlock, which does not appear to affect performance. System using 314 Gigs on new MacBook Pro Posted: 01 Jan 2018 05:27 PM PST I just recently got a new 2017 MacBook Pro fully spec'd with 1 terabyte of storage. I transferred my old 250 gig MacBook Pro time machine backup over and then over the last couple of days added some minor tweaks here and there but nothing major. My question is why is my new Mac using about twice the amount of space that my old Mac had on it when I just transferred it all over and why is the system using 314 gigs. https://imgur.com/a/h0IUt I should not I do have time machine backups on an external drive but I did not think that it would be using that much space for snapshots... Hiding Finder/Trash icons in Dock using AppleScript, broken on High Sierra? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 02:16 PM PST Applescripts on Github, that links to the Trash one however Finder is in the main directory. I'm hardly familiar with Applescript myself, however is there a way to make this work with High Sierra? It is the only constraint holding me back from upgrading, very superficial but that's just how I like my dock. Aside from the applescripts, does anyone know a method to hide these icons? Thank you. Posted: 01 Jan 2018 08:47 AM PST So...about a month ago, my mid 2012 13" MBP stopped recognizing my internal 2.5" SATA drive. I was running OS X Yosemite (10.10.6) - my favorite iteration thus far, and I was reluctant to upgrade. In order to have a working computer temporarily, I reinstalled Mountain Lion to an external and have been booting my computer that way. Last week, I sort of dropped my backpack with my MBP in it and my SATA connected for a while, with all of my files apparently intact. When I got home, it was no longer connecting. I've purchased an enclosure for it, as well as the two drivers necessary to remove the casing and drive from the brackets holding it in place. Anything I should know before I open the case for the first time? Also, assuming I can get my hard drive to connect externally, would it be possible to clone that drive to a new hard drive that I could then install internally? (thus eliminating my need for an external drive just to boot my computer). Another thing: Does anybody know if it would be possible to do a clean install of Mountain Lion and then upgrade to Yosemite? I don't want High Sierra. Thanks :) [link] [comments] |
