When has any other model of iPhone plagued with widespread "Unexpected shut downs"?

    Posted: 18 Jan 2018 07:12 AM PST

I totally think this was a manufacturing/design defect. Several other phone models (nexus 6P, note 7, etc) which released around the same time have been plagued with battery issues. It could definitely be a wide spread part manufacturing fault. I believe Apple is not coming out straight and saying there is a battery defect and they are doing all they can to keep this under wraps (secret under clocking, overly sensitive temperature related shut downs.) No other models of iPhones in the past has had such severe battery issues after only a year and a half of use. Theyve lasted much, much longer. We saw many users cling on to their iPhone 4-5s for several years without major issues.

In addition to your feedback, my question to you is that with the announcement by cook that new iOS updates will give us the ability to turn off throttling, (https://9to5mac.com/2018/01/17/turn-off-iphone-battery-performance-throttling/), do you believe that the overall battery issue will still remain, if not get worse? Phones can start dying at 40-60% causing people to upgrade regardless? DO you think the battery issue is not a defect but it is designed to fail after a certain period of time? I cannot recall any other Li-Ion batteries with battery issues as such over it's lifetime...

    Building iPhone as productivity tool

    Posted: 18 Jan 2018 05:14 AM PST

Recently back to using an iPhone after long hiatus. Want to make it a productivity tool instead of a time waster. Have been listening to the excellent Cortex podcast https://www.relay.fm/cortex to pick up some tips. using folders with verb and action oriented labels, using Omnifocus (although not convinced I should switch from Things), deleting ALL apps that are unessential are a few things I want to try. So I'm asking the community. What are some

1- MUST HAVE apps 2- apps you should delete ( or at least hide) 3- Organizational tips (folder naming and layout, etc)

As for the latter, please feel free to share screen grabs of your iPhone, iPad desktops!

I turned on reduce motion on my 7 Plus (11.2.2) and the results have been great :D

    Posted: 18 Jan 2018 05:11 AM PST

The lack of long, drawn-out animations when you turn this feature on under accessibility makes a HUGE difference to your device. I know his has been posted on here before but I thought it'd be great if more people heard about it.

My phone never quite felt the same once I had upgraded to iOS 11 and I wanted to go back to iOS 10 very badly. After turning on this feature last week I no longer feel the same way and my phone feels new again, or even better in some ways. Everything is snappy, there are no annoying stutters and everything is faster in general. I guess it also helps with increasing battery life in some way as the lack of animations lessen the load on the CPU/GPU.

Try it out if you haven't already and let me know how your device feels! I also turned reduce motion on on my old iOS 7 iTouch and it made an ever bigger difference in terms of speed!

    Posted: 18 Jan 2018 08:52 AM PST

I just reset all settings and stuff on my iPhone X on 11.1.2 and now my messages are gone. I knew this would happen, but when will iCloud iMessages be a thing? Is it in progress?

Has anyone else went from Android to iPhone, then to Android and finally back to iPhone?

    Posted: 18 Jan 2018 08:06 AM PST

Used to be an avid Android user, then I got an iPhone 7 Plus because I wanted to see what iOS has to offer (and I got tried of factory resetting my S7 every six months). The iPhone was great but I hated its limitations for quite some time (most notably, the 100mb download limit from the App Store on cellular. If someone knows a workaround please let me know ASAP) and decided that my next phone would be a stock android phone.

About two months ago, I abandoned the iPhone 7 Plus and I got the OnePlus 5T. I liked it for the first few minutes but after a while it just felt too "raw" and unpolished. Everything was harder to do and felt like more effort. It's not that it was slow—the phone was crazy fast and smooth. It's just that the refinement was missing and everything felt put together crudely.

Then I returned the OnePlus 5T and got myself an iPhone X. Quite happy now because I appreciate the refinement that iOS offers far more now. Apps just seem to fit it perfectly and everything is effortless to do. The whole experience and UI just feels fresh.

Well that's my little story. Interested if others also try to go to Android but end up back in iOS territory.

iOS 11.2.2 slows my iPhone 7

    Posted: 18 Jan 2018 12:46 AM PST

Since I updated to the last release of iOS I'm experiencing some lag when using my iPhone 7. Is it only me? Because I read that iPhone 7 shouldn't be affected by this update in that way.

Is it happening to some of you as well?

Have more saturated colors in iPhone X

    Posted: 17 Jan 2018 03:17 PM PST

Idk if this works on other iPhones but going into Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accomodations... Turn color filters on and touch on Blue/Yellow Filter. This will give your device more saturated colors. Although i haven't compared the colors to a Samsung Galaxy S7 or 8 they look very vibrant and you can customize the saturation level

Does 11.2.2 fix the audio bug?

    Posted: 18 Jan 2018 09:43 AM PST

So the audio bug in question is when I receive a Snapchat notification, my music will stop playing. This can be fixed by a restart but it only fixes the issue for a day if not less. I'm currently on 11.2. and I don't want to update to 11.2.2 if I don't have to because of the possible jailbreak that's coming. Any suggestions?

Why does my screen Auto-Lock when using Maps and plugged into power in my car?

    Posted: 18 Jan 2018 09:35 AM PST

Is this a feature, bug or something unique to my iPhone 6S+?

My iPhone will auto-lock after one minute (which is what I have it set to do) but in prior versions of iOS, if I was plugged into power and using Maps, the screen wouldn't lock. This is particularly maddening with Maps as sometimes I want to zoom in or out on Maps and then have to wrangle my finger onto Touch ID while driving, now creating a more dangerous distracted driving situation than in prior versions of iOS.

Also, I have Do Not Disturb while Driving set to Manually.
