| I left the house with nothing but my watch today! Posted: 17 Jan 2018 10:41 PM PST It's crazy how much you can actually do with the watch. I took a risk today, and went grocery shopping with just my watch on me. No phone, no wallet. I was able to make texts and calls, show my loyalty cards, check my shopping list, shazam a song, and pay for my groceries all with my watch. It was a pretty cool experience. I love how "stripped down" the watch feels, so you have the bare bone essentials you need, but can remain involved within the real world. Best part about this, my watch doesn't have cellular. It's an S3 GPS. It automatically connected to a local wi-fi spot I've connected to before with my phone, so I was able to do all this at the grocery store while my phone was sitting at home. I got the series 3 for Christmas, and I already chipped the corner at work (CNC machining). I looked online for cases, and loved the look of the epik aluminum case. Unfortunately, the business is no longer, and that case is out of date. Could anyone recommend some cool looking cases (specifically more minimal, and not looking like a transformer), preferably that aren't overflowing with branding? Thanks in advance! It's handy being able to see that I got a text while driving and read what it says, but is there some way using Siri to reply to that text without having to take a hand off the wheel/eyes off the road? What bands work well? I have a relatively decent variety of (Apple) bands, but I only seem to like using the Cloud and Soft White sport bands with the Edition. | I need advice/help on dealing with Apple Posted: 18 Jan 2018 05:27 AM PST On December 18th I bought my sister a S3 Aluminum Sport Apple Watch from the Boca Raton Apple Store. A week ago my sisters frantically calls me saying her screen just popped of. She told me her watch was hot so she took it off and noticed the screen popped off. Now my sister does not have a great track record with tech products, but in this instance I 100% believed this was not here fault. The watch it not even 30 days old and I've had mine for a few months and beat the hell out of mine. I told her the watch has Apple Care, and just take it back to the Apple Store. After I got off the phone with her I checked into the issue and noticed has been a known issue here. I also checked on the watch to make sure it had Apple Care, just to make sure. Welp...it didn't. In my rush to get out of the chaos of the Apple Store, I didn't even check to make sure the guy added it. I called her back telling her about the issues of other watches I found and tried to walk her through buying Apple Care, just in case. We tried for an hour but the page would never communicate it had received the diagnostics. I told her don't worry, it's not your fault and they will repair or replace it for free. Also BUY APPLE CARE! She goes into the Apple Store at Boca Raton and after getting some shit that they cannot help her, she gets to talk to the manager. This manager tells her she has seen this issue before, but because this was an Outlet Apple Store, they can't do a replace or repair and will have to send it in...but don't worry it will be free. Today she gets the repair information back and now are trying to charge her $230 for the repair. On a month old watch. From seemingly a known issue..... TL;DR Apple Watch Screen popped off and Apple is charging us $230 dollars for a repair. What do we do or say? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 17 Jan 2018 06:50 PM PST My wife has an S3 and is having a hell of a time getting it to accurately record her workouts. She goes to the park daily with the kids and pushes the stroller for 4 miles. The Workouts App (on Outdoor Walk) consistently under reports the miles that she is walking. I assume this is because it is using "step" data rather than raw GPS data to track. I had her use WorkOutDoors and it worked perfectly, except it doesn't give her lap times, which she wants. I'm guessing WorkOutDoors uses GPS instead of steps like the Workouts App. Anyway to get the Workouts App to be more accurate? Or to use GPS data from the watch instead of steps? Or should I just beg the WorkOutDoors app developer to add in per mile lap times? [link] [comments]  | ||

Apps aren't talking either 3rd party or even the weather from Apple. Should I unpair and repair? I have cell plan for watch and process asks to undo that. Seems scary and hoping for advice.
