Apple now selling refurbished 12.9” iPad Pro (2017)

Best case for iPad Pro 12.9 inch?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2018 11:23 AM PST

Like the title says, I have a 12.9 inch Pro, and I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for a good shell case? I use my Smart Keyboard at pretty much all times, and I would like something that covered the rest of it.

The Tech 21 was at the Apple store, and it was lauded over by several employees. I don't mind spending 80 dollars on a case, but I want to make sure I'm buying the most-protective one.

Also, can you guys recommend any screen protectors? I currently don't have one, but I think I should. I have one on all of my other devices.

    OneDrive in iCloud

    Posted: 10 Jan 2018 11:27 AM PST

Is there a way to create a onedrive alias in iCloud storage? That is to say, have a folder in iCloud that holds all my onedrive files, and they're updated through onedrive but still linked in iCloud? Sorry if I'm not making sense. I looked it up on google and didn't find any answers. This would make my ipad much easier to use.

    OneNote Slow down after 11.2.2

    Posted: 10 Jan 2018 02:35 PM PST

    Hi All,

Wondering if others are having the same issue. I have a issue with OneNote performance after the 11.2.2 patch, in particular multi-tasking.

If I have iMessage in the floating window and I interact with it while OneNote is in the main window, when I switch back to OneNote, it takes a second or two and goes white for a "redraw" before I can interact with it. The same thing happens with iMessage in split screen.

    • Doesn't matter what secondary app
    • Does not occur with the native notes app

looking for an ipad pro 9.7 case

    Posted: 10 Jan 2018 02:22 PM PST

as the title says, I'm looking for a new case, i have a silicone one and it gets pretty dirty with fingerprints and stuff, so recently i bought a white poetic quarterback case from amazon and it looks amazing, the only thing that bothers me it's the fact that it makes my ipad a lot heavier, so I'm looking for a new one i need it to have a place for the apple pencil and that it leaves the space for attaching the smart keyboard if it doesn't cost more than 25€ it's even better! thank you

iMessage coming in out of order and keyboard not popping up

    Posted: 10 Jan 2018 06:38 AM PST

I was wondering if any of you were experiencing similar issues as me when it comes to iMessages. I have the latest 12.9 pro and my imessages are not showing in order they come in at.

Also 10-11 times a day i have to restart the iMessage app because the keyboard wont show when i tap the text box (where I write the message). I get the same issue with both the soft keyboard and the smart keyboard

Should the iPad 2017 stream and download Netflix in 1080p?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2018 09:49 AM PST

I took my 2017 up to Starbucks where they have 6MB wifi and downloaded a 2 hour movie, After it finished the file size was slightly less than 400MB. I downloaded the same movie on an Android TV box at SD and it was about the same size, maybe 10-20 megabytes smaller. I also streamed it for a few minutes but I couldn't tell whether is was HD or not. Is there any way to see what resolution it is playing at?

I am mainly interested in downloading in 1080p so I can cast it to my TV.

    Favorite apps?

    Posted: 10 Jan 2018 03:07 AM PST

I know this question gets asked semi frequently, but it's always super vague and sporadic. This might end up just like that, but I'm going to put a bunch of apps against each other based on my limited experience with them, and maybe you can add your own experiences as well :)

Background - I got an iPad (non-Pro) this Christmas so I can try and be productive when I'm away from home 3-4 days a week

    Productivity;

Duet - external monitor app ($10). Kinda disappointed in it, because you need to plug you iPad into your computer. Still cool tho, can drag and drop like it was a real monitor, though with some delay and scaling/resolution issues.

Workflow/IFTTT - I'm like a dog at a keyboard with these guys, I downloaded them to be all clever, but they're just chilling in my folder just yearning to be used. Someone give me a good formula/workflow I can use

Mindly/mindnode5 - a task app that I can actually use. I like to make to-do lists, but I get easily distracted about the details in the things I should do. These mind map apps let you expand on them. MindNode is 15, so I've put it off so far. Mindly is free, pretty cool, but doesn't let you check things off when they're done, which is going to make me add "check off when done" item to my other to do lists. Which brings me to..

Asana - pretty awesome, can make a todo list, make a todo board. Basically do a regular reminder like system, or be full on kanban and assign people to tasks on the board. Super cool app, though I wish I could combine it and mindly. Maybe I should just drop 15 on MindNode?

Pythonista = I want to teach myself to code, but I haven't. I thought getting this would put me on that path? Not yet. Cost $10, less than $25 coda, and is more my lane (python) than the other guy, I think it's textastic, which also cost 10. All of these apps may be awesome, I still don't know anything tho..

Py/swift playgrounds - oh damn I can kinda learn. That's all tho. I can get some basics down, but I can't compile, and unless you have a vision, these apps basically are like learning how to conjugate Spanish verbs... yeah you can understand some basics, but unless you apply it, you're not gonna retain much.

Games (my 2nd and last category)

GTA SA - Damn I can play me ps2 on my iPad. $7? All day, easily worth it, and I don't even have a controller. This big ass screen has more than enough real estate to let me drive around. Though I'm not that far and if I have to do intricate movements I fuck up. Still an awesome game.

Talos principle - genius puzzler, like 150 levels or something, pretty good story/lore, and can get you that portal/platforms/nintendoEmulator all in one, if you're into it. Definitely my favorite app purchase, and was only $5

Portal bridge constructor - pretty fun game, though it throws me off that money doesn't matter in constructing a bridge. But you make your bridge not fall apart while having 10 cars crash into each other because you don't understand how physics work. Super fun game. $5 holla gets you companion cube loving.

Goat simulator - GOAT simulator. Fuck Tom Brady. Fuck LeBron. FUCK HANK AARON Fuck Sidney Crosby. Fuck Federer/Nadal. Fuck Ronaldo/Messi. This goat is the real 🐐. Pay the $5 and elevate yourself

Human resource machine - another failed attempt at getting me to learn to code. You get things in the inbox, you put them in the outbox. But you have to do it right, based on code principles. It's actually pretty fun, and decently funny. I'm stuck at lvl 14 because apparently I don't understand anything, still worth the $5 to me

    That's all.

If I had to rank them [TLDR/TL;DR]

    Talos.
    Portal.
    GTA.
    HRM.
    Mindly.
    Duet.
    Asana.
    GOAT.

The rest, because I haven't fully utilized them yet.

    Thoughts?
