Posted: 27 Jan 2018 04:49 AM PST I'm trying out the Siri watch face and the only thing that shows for me is weather and sunrise. I know it can do much more, so I'm wondering what sort of ways so you all use the Siri watch face? [link] [comments]
Big differences between iPhone only and iPhone+Watch calorie burn Posted: 27 Jan 2018 04:23 AM PST Hey, I record my caloric intake like it's my religion, it's the only thing that keeps me in shape, so I've always recorded my calories burnt as best I can, is the Apple Watch (S3 if it matters) more accurate in determining calories burnt than just my phone deciding I did XXXX amount of steps and based on my weight and height, I burnt XXXX amount of calories? When I record to myfitnesspal automatically,if it decides I've burnt 100 extra calories through steps walked with my phone,my watch might say two or three times that in the activity monitor - I'm assuming that's more accurate because of the heart rate monitor? It's confusing me that there is such a huge (yet consistent) difference. The difference is huge. Thanks! [link] [comments]

My S1 AW isn't tapping me while its in silent mode. Whats wrong? Posted: 27 Jan 2018 05:59 AM PST I have haptic strength all the way up and I feel it when its not on silent, but when I'm on silent mode I get not taptic feedback. Am I doing something wrong or have a settings on that shouldn't be on? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Jan 2018 07:51 AM PST I have a passcode and wrist detection turned on and some days it works fine but others it locks whenever the screen goes off and I have to unlock all the time. The strap is on the tightest setting and I've even tested but making sure it's in contact with my arm when the screen dies and it still locks Any ideas? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Smashed my AW twice... in my dreams (nightmares?). Posted: 27 Jan 2018 07:29 AM PST Well, in the past two weeks I've dreamed twice of accidentally smashing/cracking my AWS3 screen. This comes after literally smashing my AWS2 in reality, without having AppleCare+. Yes, I have it now for my new watch. Ironically, I wear the smashed watch to bed to track sleep while my new watch charges at night. May be this is subliminally seeping into my consciousness. I wonder if I should take the resulting real feelings of stress that results from these dreams seriously. May be I should try one of those screen protectors... they just look so janky sometimes. Seemingly, more often than not it, makes a nice watch look like a piece of shit. But, $70 is not free... torn. [link] [comments]

Apple watch running app or similar for remote real time location? Posted: 27 Jan 2018 06:58 AM PST My wife has asthma which last year we dealt with ok, but I was really thinking of getting her an Apple watch. I figured that if there was some way to only turn on some kind of tracking while she was running, (No interest in following her around all day) then I could make sure she's ok on ever longer runs. That and just the general peace of mind for other things that could happen, which I'm not as concerned about as her mother, but that's a different story. But here's where I come up short: I would get the LTE model through Verizon. But it seems like no app has an automatic feature that does this. She uses Map My Run, which will only run if the phone is present. Strava for some reason doesn't seem to support an automatic way to use the watch for "Beacon". Nike+ is a no go, I believe. I don't understand enough about Apple's built in products to know whether or not they would work for something like this? And if I do use those, is there some way to turn it off easily so it's only for her run? Again, I'm really not interested in knowing her precise location at any other time than this. Thanks! TIL if your watch face comes on and you want to immediately turn it off, rest your palm on it. Posted: 27 Jan 2018 05:35 AM PST Even if just a quick sec, cover the watch with your palm (the palm should rest on it). It turns the face off immediately. I assume this is what happens if your watch detects your jacket on its face. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Jan 2018 04:43 AM PST So I went to update my watch before I went to bed last night and got up, took it off the charger and now I realize that it must have stopped the update or something because it still says I have 5 hours left!? The Watch works fine, but no update. Two questions: how do I finish the update? Will restarting the watch mid update brick the watch? Help! [link] [comments]

How is Apple Watch for Google services users? Posted: 27 Jan 2018 04:20 AM PST I am considering an Apple Watch but am pretty heavily invested in Google services (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Photos, etc...). These things all work fine on the phone but I am wondering if I will notice a lack of support if I get the watch? Do you have to be fully invested in the Apple services to get a good experience with the watch? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Water Lock works less well than before. Posted: 27 Jan 2018 04:09 AM PST I've had my watch for about a month, and water lock used to clear water out of the speaker fine. But now every time I wake a shower and use water lock, sounds are muffled as if there is water in the speaker. Sometimes I can get it back to normal for a while and then a minute later suddenly it will sound like the speaker is filled with water again. Is this normal? [link] [comments]

Tip for former Fitbit users (or how to exercise with your AW the wrong way) Posted: 26 Jan 2018 12:02 PM PST I've had my AW Series 2 for about 4-5 months and I absolutely love it! Prior to my AW I had a fitbit. I did like my fitbit but (for me) calibrating the thing to measure my steps properly was something of a pain. I could never get it to count them properly, it was either to high or felt way to low. After getting the AW i think the "3 rings system" is a much more "complete" approach to fitness/wellness goals. At least for weight loss. Anyway, one feature I did like of fitbits was it's ability to determine what exercise I was performing. For example if I decided to jog on my treadmill it would track that without me doing anything, which i found convenient. When I got my AW, without even thinking I started jogging on the treadmill and I saw my exercise ring fill up. I assumed that my time on the treadmill was being tracked as a workout and I didn't need to do anything. Fast forward 5 months and a few days ago I took a look at the apple health app and noticed the 30 minutes of exercise I was doing was each day was being logged as 30 consecutive 1 minute exercises...This was the reason I wasn't getting any of the exercise achievements because it didn't look like I was doing any workouts! Lesson learned. TLDR; If you're going to exercise with the AW, don't be like me. Use the workout app. [link] [comments]

How fragile is the screen on the aluminium AW? Posted: 26 Jan 2018 04:17 PM PST Whenever I'm considering getting an AW I browse this subreddit for a little while and I always find posts about broken screens. I like wearing watches (normal ones) and I've hit quite a few of them on tables, ground and what not. I have, however, never scratched/broken the glass on a watch. So how easy does the screen break (I don't really care about small scratches)? Consider the following things: When I take my watches off I throw them on my desk (small distance - max 10cm) or I sometimes bang the glass on the bottom of my desk when I raise my hand.
